IMHO the site is getting a lot better with it's 'crowd control'. If you think it's rude here, you ought to try logging into a few of the lesser Thai expat sites.

You only need Lao in the boonies, in civilization everyone speaks English. Went to the vet today, she speaks English. Went to my physiotherapist yesterday, she speaks English. My wife, son, stepdaughter speak English. Why the need to speak Thai?

Suspending Pension, suspect that would be against their own rules, but I have 4 years living expenses sitting in my bank (and less than a 2 year life expectancy) so no potential problem. 3. There are no direct links to my life outside the UK (financial or social), certainly not through my bank account. Better for me to worry about drowning from sea level rises, which is more likely than my pension being stopped.

I scan the QR code on my bill, why use any other method? No need to even do that, save your last payment as a 'favourite' on your bank app (water and electricity), the correct payment amount appears every time you select it.

My misses pays 3kbht/month for police to patrol our housing estate 2x a day. Actually cheaper than the private security we previously used.

So get them to pay the pension direct to WISE.

Open a WISE account, pay from HSBC to WISE by free bank transfer. WISE charge 7 pounds for 1200 pounds to transfer to a Thai bank at XE rate, no other fees. As a bonus HSBC (and DWP) have no record of where the money is going.
