Buying A car from a Thai that has a loan
atpeace replied to atpeace's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Thanks. It is a good buy and I have the CoR but I think I can do it without the seller. I just need a sales contract, copies of his ID, and power of attorney. I don't want to register in Chon Buri but I can if I have no other choice. Not even sure if I can register in Chon Buri my immigration office is in Ubon. You're right this is confusing... -
Assume I go to the bank with the owner and payoff the loan. We will need a purchase contract and ID's. The Thai seems like a nice guy but with too many cars 😉 He is a little clueless so I want make sure I get it right on my end. I live in Ubon and the car is in Sri Racha which means I will have to catch a flight and don't want to spend days finalizing this ownership transfer. I have another flight to America later this week. Does the bank send the updated car book to me after paying it off? I will get the appropriate docs from the seller to switch provinces. Sales contract, copies of house book, ID, and seller power of attorney. Am I missing something? Thanks

He is stating it directly goes to the corresponding bank without transfers. E.g., Interactive forces you to go through Bangkok Banks New York branch if using swift. Put in Bangkok Bank's Thailand swift code and are directed to the corresponding bank in New York. No choice and they could care less about the additional fees and it is only a wire transfer to the corresponding bank and not to Thailand. Sometime it takes days for the New York branch to send to Thailand.

Just made a appointment at the Savannakhet Thai embassy. In the small print they stated to put in the correct visa type or the appointment could be declined. Most Embassies don't list the type but I found a couple (Las Angeles and Jakarta ) that listed it as a non-immigration visa and that is the type I used for the appointment. Would have been nice if they asked for the specific visa as they do in Vientiane. What type of visa is the DTV?

Travelled all around Thailand with my ex for my first 20 years. Lived in Chiang Mai for 6 years and it was great until the tourism became excessive and driving 1 kilometer could take an hour and the pollution was terrible. Isaan is interesting but you need hobbies and a great partner (mine was not so great 🙂 ), Pattaya is fun and my 6 years living in a place with an incredible ocean view a couple kilometers away from the city center is definitely something I'll never forget. Now living in the nowhere Thailand on Mekhong river and these last 4 years here have probably been my best years in Thailand for reason that would bore everybody to describe. Nobody can tell you the best place. It is a moving target. If you enjoy nightlife, go to a place with nightlife. If you need a change move somewhere else...

Half a liter of coffee, banana, 1/3 of a can of tuna, and swallowed the daily scoop of disgusting pea protein mixed in water. Lunches are when I feast.

Smart Home automations - anybody using?
atpeace replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Beautiful setup! I just have a simple setup in the sticks. I use Sonoff smart plugs for my 220v smart devices and misc Chinese smart wifi relays for my 12v lights, water pumps and ice bath components. Also Sonoff motion sensors for security. Security lights turn on/off depending on motion. Also one of the smart plugs is attached to a recording of me talking loudly when we are out of the house and motion is detected. It is all powered by solar and a battery so power outages aren't a concern. After putting Google nest speakers in each room the system became easy to use. I got rid of most the motion sensor determined lighting, AC control, etc and found it easier to use a light switch, remote, or voice. -

That is a nice looking interface. I get all the above data using Sonoff smart devices and Anern's inverter app but I have to open different apps and not as clean. Do you use Google nest devices? That was the game changer for me. Just created simple commands and the wife can now easily turn on/off lights, play music, etc. and the kids that come around enjoy the "Hey Google" experience. -

That is expensive! I have a thread on my install last month which is similar to yours. I bought the components and found someone to install. Where do you live? I just woke up one morning after debating for months and jumped in a car and drove to solar panel shops. Three shops and chose the shop I liked the most. Purchased the panels with the agreement they would install asap. They charged 2 baht per kw for wiring and putting on the roof. The wires and the framing were extra. Think about 7k. The panels were on the roof in a day and everything was ready to go by end of second day. Total cost for my system was 130k. I have more power than I know what to do with and am going to buy an EV. As for the battery being able to run all night. Yes, I use 50% of the capacity and I also have a 48v/280 ah battery. I'm still on the grid but haven't drawn any power from it in a month. Here the thread on my install. It is not as complicated as it seemed going into the project. It is simply putting the panels on the roof then plugging them into the inverter, and lastly connecting the inverter to the grid. IMO, you need a cost breakdown because because something doesn't add up. Panels are so inexpensive and that inverter is super expensive for your needs. You mentioned you just need a backup and you are getting a premium install for a large house. Knowing what I know now, I could put together a dependable backup system that could handle 5,000 watts for around 95k and it could be expanded in the future.

You have lost me. Probably obvious but really don't get why you posted the link to substantiate an opinion of yours with another link to another persons opinion. I guess you substantiated two people share the same opinion 🙂

Latest carmaker to scale back its EV ambitions amid slowing sales
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That is insane pricing. The individual cells are cheap and they are connected in series and then the modules again are connected in series. It is what it is but that pricing will drop once batteries start to fail. Can you imagine the battery shops popping up in towns throughout Thailand 10 years from now? You can buy the BYD cell online and I think they are under 3,000 baht. -
Think you are referring to my molar. Don't have real dentist offices here and have to do it at the hospital(shack). last visit was painful and the pain dragged on for weeks. I have good teeth and that was my first painful dental visit. On second thought, the debate can't be that painful.
