The benefits of living alone as an older man
atpeace replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I don't talk much to the locals because my Thai isn't good and there English is worse. They are pleasant enough and haven't had any issues with them. As for Expats, they are fine to talk t but as I mentioned, there aren't any 🙂 Life is perfect but I'm fine with the imperfections and choose to live a life without expats or real friends. Been 4 years and arguably my best years so no plans on moving. My woman has other homes where tourists reside and we go there once or twice a year for a month and that's is fun. Also travel more than most for events or whatever. -
The benefits of living alone as an older man
atpeace replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That is me with the exception of getting out. I'm OK with my situation. I really don't have a choice other than moving to a place with other expats. You need to be able find hobbies(even one can suffice ) that are satisfying and having an incredible partner is the most important. I just came back from Laos and bumped into an Expat eating lunch in a crappy Lao restaurant. 3 empty beer bottles on the table and just got the impression he was just wasting away. He wasn't a bad bloke but felt sorry for him. I don't know but simply being aware enough so you can realize you are unhappy alone and trying something else would be the answer. Most lonely downers don't even have a clue there are options. -
Been hearing that for 50 years now. Your the guy that thinks wife's don't get social security benefits if they haven't worked. Been posting this nonsense repeatedly on this thread. Hard to take you serious. So many fixes and most probably wouldn't impact my benefit much. Simply trimming benefits for high earners or increasing the SS tax cap on high earners for example would probably extend the program out another 25 years. Literally millions of fixes that in the end won't be too painful. I can't wait for you to call me a foo which seems to be a habit of yours.

Wow. You have no idea how social security works and you are collecting from the system. Simply amazing and not only that you are insulting others in previous posts that do understand the system. His wife does not and let me emphasize "does not" HAVE TO PAY INTO THE SYSTEM FOR 40 QUARTERS. He has to pay into the system for 40 quarters and his wife will receive up to 50 percent of his benefit. There are restrictions but in most cases she will receive around 50%.

Nope, where did yo get that info. Millions of stay at home Mom's are collecting social security and never have worked a day of there life while their husband is still living. My Mom would be one of those and my Dad is still alive. Google is your friend - try it out. Here I'll help and don't worry about apologizing for being a foolish know it all. https://www.kiplinger.com/article/retirement/t051-c032-s014-stay-at-home-parents-can-still-qualify-for-social.html#:~:text=social security-,Social Security for Stay-at-Home Moms (and Dads, just like any other worker.

I'm an idiot. I find the above post hilarious and the last sentence as a rub on an earlier poster was good.

When you hand your condo back
atpeace replied to JoeyMac's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
He is referring to the air filter that I clean every month. Takes 5 minute and the AC functions a little better. -
For your type, 100% agree. Not the case for many men here. Even for them I think their odds of finding a good match is better outside of the bars that exist today (nothing like 25-30 years ago). I haven't been to bars in many years but there were always plenty of women that were only mild drinkers and never drunk. Every bar had the annoying drunk girls and many men gravitate towards them. That high pitched inauthentic laugh can be annoying. Think the OP is missing bygone times and knows finding a good women in a bar would be nearly impossible.

I'm slow tonight. That went over my head. Dummy it up a little please.

Interesting video that shows how easy it could be to swap batteries in EVs. It is already being done in China in mass. The battery component is really the only EV risk IMO and that will be eliminated or greatly reduced in the next 5 years. There were going to be repair shops popping up everywhere soon enough that will drastically reduce battery repair cost . This happened with the Nissan Leaf in America and will happen in Thailand. This video shows how easy the process could be. Low tech video which makes it more real.

You see the guys zooming around on their motorbikes. 7 years back there were many and bet they accomplished what they were tying to accomplish. Can't just walk into a bar now and expect to find someone interesting. It was funny to witness - they looked like chickens with their heads cut off but with mobiles phone ready to record prospect contact info. To each his own but at this point in my life, I would rather just take it slow and go the traditional route. Not single so maybe I would also join the moto-love seeking group. As for online - boring as fffckk. Fun 10 years ago but now it is a shhhtt show online.

Thinking about taking my long time GF to the USA. What do you think the odds are to get a tourist visa? Leaving in a few weeks for America and not going to try this trip but was thinking next year for my parents 65 wedding anniversary. We are both in our 50s (no kids ) and she has travelled 10-15 years back to England (work obtained her visa) and of course Asian countries. She has homes worth probably 5 million in total. She doesn't work now other than 1-3k online income and 15,000 baht in rental income.. She only has about 600k baht in the bank.

Italian Tourist Locked in Office Over Visa Refund Dispute
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Her lower back looks sexy. She probably doesn't like be pushed around and has the temper of a wronged Isaan girl. In the moment some just see red. I know better than to mess around with the type and would have just left and come up with an alternative means to get my money or revenge 🙂 or most likely just walked away from the transaction. -
It would work for me I think if I was inclined to make the effort. I'm 57 but get the impression while out and about that 20ish women are interested. Not all but some hotties seem to be. Strange for me to comprehend but it seems to be the case. Not sure about you but assume the same would apply. Where it would end, who knows...

British man, accused of drug dealing, arrested in Phuket
atpeace replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
You have never been on the lamb which is a good thing. Do you really think the countries above in 99% of cases regarding drug traffickers would have an issue extraditing that person. North Korea might be a challenge but even then it would probably happen for a convicted drug dealer. -
Plus and minuses I guess. 99% of 18 YOs would be hard for me to deal with and just can't fathom how you pulled it off with a 16 YO. They are evolving at hyper speed and you can't lock them in a closet when they have a tantrum or just wish to be a normal 16 yo. I think you just got super lucky or are some sort of mental giant that knows all the intricacies involved in a 16 YO's mind. The odds for success in my case would be close to ZERO.

I've been here since 1998 and I kind of remember very young girls but not my type so probably just looked past them. I do remember asking for IDs a few times so it definitely was on my mind. My American GF was hot at 16 so I understand the attraction but at 32 when I was in Soi Cowboy I found even 18 frustrating vs 25. Maybe the 18yo had fake IDs. Now I'm into women close to my age+- that are beautiful and healthy mentally which is EXTREMELY hard to find. It would take a decade or two using online dating services IMO.

Not too old at 57 and been here since 1998 when I was young 🙂 The late 90s were completely different and incredible women working in the bars. Not just looks but personalities. Not all by any means but it was easy to find women that were fun. Been about 6 years since I went to a bar with working girls but it was losing its attraction even then and assume it has got much worse. I found I mostly just went to people watch after around 2015 and the women weren't attractive with the rare exception. The exceptions were in high demand and that seems to not end well for them. It became creepy. I'm not looking down on those that frequent bars but for me it just stopped being a good experience. It would be impossible for me to reenter the bar scene. At the end of my single life in Thailand I was meeting quality women at health clubs, markets, etc. Normal places is where I would start looking if I ever find myself looking for love.

I have some years to go before SS. I'm 57 and was thinking of not collecting until 70. I have only worked for 10 years so my benefit isn't big but with that said the social security system benefits those with shorter working years ( not fare IMO but I'll take the money 🙂 ). I think my check would be around 2,300 at 70 in todays dollars.

Usage and production isn't linear in regards to solar as you know. I built my system with the intention of meeting 95%+ of my energy needs, and a byproduct of this type of build is huge excess production in the afternoon (~25kWh's extra on a sunny day for me - 7.8 kW panels and 6.5 kW inverter). I really didn't understand the possibilities of harnessing unused solar output/potential until I installed my system weeks ago. You can just let the extra power potential go unused or find a use which is free , not considering derating (that's for you fruity or whatever your name is ), free. Thinking about a miniature water park during the hot season. Might need a few more panels.

So genius, please explain how my 14k baht inverter that will probably last at least 10 years can't charge my car for basically free. Remember the primary use is for the home energy. Do I need to derate the energy the sun provides? Just admit it - you made a stupid comment and get over it. Like I mentioned previously, you're right, it would cost 15 baht a month to charge my car. Maybe we should leave it at that - you are right and I am wrong.
