  1. and yours is not ? Trump is just being Trump and this will an interesting 4 years. I was hoping he wouldn't pardon "all" the rioters, except 14 Proud Boy members that were released from prison and I assume will be pardoned in the future. This is going to be a fun ride!
  2. 55 just now 🙂 It's coming but not here yet and I hope it is only a month of over 100. Location matters! Only 200 meters from Laos and much of the pollution will be coming from there. Fires here can be put out quickly because it is rocky and not as much to burn. They actually put many of the fire out if it is spotted in time and they can get water to the location.
  3. Really? Air purifiers I use help substantially even with a windows open a crack. Not ideal but still make a huge difference. Any Thai built house even with bad insulation would benefit IMO. Probably be blowing through filters but the aren't too expensive.
  4. Wish I had your pollution fighting genes. I'm in exceptional shape 🙂 but Bangkok pollution wrecks me. I might be able to do it for a day or two but inevitably the sinuses will start to act up and from there it usually progresses into at times a hellish experience.
  5. Not a good look for Biden or the democratic party. I voted for this idiot in 2016 and he has tarnished my reputation 🙂
  6. I was out in the hills today in the NE and it wasn't bad at all. I think it is improving the last few years but still awful. There definitely is more enforcement and fires are put out in many cases. In the past they just let them die out. Don't think we will see the mass burning in 10 years but might just be a hope...
  7. He hasn't figured out a water filter in all the years he has been here is strange. Also don't get the can of tin beans comparison. I've never bought a can of tin beans. I think he has been here so long he has doesn't grasp how expensive back home has become.
  8. Enjoy Danang 🙂 Nice to have options.
  9. Really! That is not an official Thai document but simply a guide to help international execs in Thailand file taxes. In the three examples for 3 tax years there is no mention of cap gains -555. They do quickly go over cap gain but simply state it isn't taxable unless you bring those cap gains into Thailand or they are earned locally. How would you conclude that all cap gains earned will also be taxed at 30% vs the USA cap of 15% is nothing but insanity. Calm down and re-read the article. Is that article the reason for your fear?
  10. Hmm, and for some reason those saving have disappeared? Is there a reason you can't keep sending prior years savings?
  11. What ever. You know exactly how capital gains taxes that were paid in America will be handled here in Thailand. Keep at - it is entertaining.
  12. You don't know this and you stating your beliefs as fact is what make these threads so entertaining. This law is not new and I assume you are also back filing past returns where you didn't pay the difference. It was due by your definition and you are going to have a big tax bill.
  13. What about short term caps gains that are taxed higher than Thailand? What about income in different tax brackets that are taxed different? What about exclusions in one country vs another? What about prior year losses that are treated differently? The list could go on. IMO, Thailand isn't going to tax income that is already taxed. There was a reason for tax treaties and the above what if scenarios was the reason. Up to you and you may be right. Again, I'm not going to lose any sleep over something I think is very improbable.
  14. I think what others told you is probably true. They aren't sure and nobody is at this point in time. Common sense is where they arrived at their opinions.
  15. I get it but seriously doubt you will be taxed twice on the same income. Might happen but in my estimation the odds are tiny. Personally not going to lose any sleep over it.
  16. 2k a year isn't bad and I don't have to find a 7 year old.
  17. You telling me they aren't charging me 2 baht any longer. You look at your receipt?
  18. Agreed but am I the only one that enjoys other people becoming unglued. Not that I'm proud of my behavior but these threads always brighten up my day.
  19. I agree with all the above. As for most of us living here off of saving, this will IMO be a nothing burger 🙂 Could be wrong but what is the point of worrying about something that we really have no way of forecasting the final outcome. For a couple years now these debates have been happening which is entertaining. I'll miss them but still think this topic has ways to run.
  20. That makes sense and depending on the paperwork, it could become a real hassle. What is the fine for not doing the 90 day reporting?
  21. Tax dodger? I'm not worried at all about any new taxes in Thailand. I would bet you would fall into the category that earns income and resides here to avoid paying taxes on that income. If you have paid taxes in another country, I would chill and wait and see. Doubt your tax bill will more than zero assuming you aren't a freeloader. Severe anxiety sucks dude!
  22. Over 25 years in Thailand made many of the common mistakes. Really didn't see them as mistakes the first 15 years and just rolled with the up and downs. Great times but at 52 (5 years ago) I was lucky enough to be able to walk away from all my stupid decisions and only lost 50% of my wealth in the process and started fresh. Now with a new Thai woman and making all the right choices. Life is good. I didn't learn from others specifically but life itself. As I got older, it becomes easier to do the right thing or at least it did for me. It started with seeing a woman walking in a market and then everything after just became easy. I started doing everything for us and not mostly for me.
  23. Never thought I would be in the group doing the bowing but a quick bow and wait and see what happens is where I was at. The democratic party lost its way. People calling others racists for making choke, a few posts above is a good example. Four years for the dems to start being "real" and stop the shenanigans to get my vote back.
  24. Not going to waste my time replying other than advising you to reread prior threads going back years with your same argument above and "no" real knowledge has been gained. As I mentioned prior - carry on for the many AN members that find these threads hilarious.
  25. Yawn and it is obvious you think you know much more than you actually do on this subject. Your above posts are hilariously void of anything other than the story you have made-up in your head on how "all" things regarding expat taxes in the future. How can you not see this? Carry on - these threads are fun.
