The names of posters responding to a topic seem to have disappeared. Any particular reason for this?

Naked man smashes up convenience store before "mumbling in Arabic"

I think that his heart (publicity seeking? Possibly/probably) is in the right place, and to stand up the way that he does and openly criticise the corruption and inadequacies within the system is to be applauded, not criticised. I don't think he cares one way or the other about farang problems, but there again, why should he? But as I have said before, he had better be careful about the toes that he stands on!

"...............not bad people, just bad owners." And just how many examples of the above do you reckon there are in Thailand? Just how many more tragedies waiting to happen because of "not bad people"? Personally, I think that Pit Bulls should be banned, but some people think that owners should have a licence for this breed. To own a gun legally in this country you have to have a licence and how many of those are illegally owned throughout the country? Licensing is obviously not the answer, and I am sick of hearing that they are very friendly, affectionate dogs if looked after correctly. They are huge, unpredictable animals that were originally bred to KILL, and unfortunately, they seem to be doing so on a regular basis, with little or no provocation, but it's not bulls that they are killing! Incidentally, regarding your statement that "Pit Bull attacks are less frequent than those by other breeds", I asked the question on Google - "Which breed of dog attacks humans most frequently?" Here is the answer:- "Pit bull. No dog breed has a more ferocious reputation than the pit bull, being recognized as the most aggressive dog breed. According to Canine Journal (an organization that collects and analyzes dog bite attacks in the United States), Pit bull attacks are responsible for the deaths of 185 people in the last ten years ..." Hmmm?

AGAIN! When will the Government realise that something needs to be done about these dogs, especially when they have bitten people in the past? "There had been many warnings about the dog after it attacked more than ten people over the years,..." "Phatsorn, Mana's wife, arranged for the dog to be looked after by kind people who offered to help." Unbelievable! I wouldn't go near it with a bargepole!

110 Thai immigration police officers charged in visa scandal

I hope that Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn has a top notch security team looking out for his well being! He seems to be stepping on an awful lot of toes! -
"Therefore, the customs officers will not search for tourists entering Thailand." TAT has spend a fortune persuading tourists to visit Thailand, and here we have a Government Department who seem to have been spending their time trying to find them! ???? Maybe their time might be better spent searching for human traffickers or illegal immigrants? ????

"Video: Russian airline aborts takeoff after tire explodes on runway at Phuket Airport" "...........after the Azur Air aircraft right jet engine malfunctioned during takeoff." It took roughly 40 minutes to move the aircraft to a taxiway junction, where it obstructed other flights from landing or taking off. You couldn't make it up!

American tourists spend more money than Europeans in Thailand: survey
sambum replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe because their currency isn't $'s - it's Euros or British Pounds etc (Just joking - I'll get my coat on the way out!) -
I see your point, but unfortunately for this country to move forward, it will take a lot more understanding from those in positions of authority that "it's not always just about the money"! In fact, most/many of them would probably say that it is always about the money because that is how they got their positions in the first place!

".............no females were to be appointed to 'inquiry' roles for reliability reasons." What they mean to say is that no females can be trusted to keep their mouths shut! ???? Seriously, there are female Police Officers, but maybe they are appointed merely to search and accompany female suspects as is probably required by International Law/Human Rights.

"Videos showed the men being led from the Bangkok Remand Prison to a special, relatively new court that deals with corruption cases against bent officials." Going by the information in the article, and what seems to be common knowledge about widespread corruption in the RTP, it shouldn't be long before a committee is set up to discuss the viability of setting up such courts in every province in Thailand!

I remember reading a story a few years ago about a BIB helping a lady change the wheel on her car after she had a puncture ! Mind, as I said, that was a few years ago!

The first line of my post specifically mentions that my wife is Thai, and I didn't say it was my land! And I wasn't contradicting your post - if anything, I was supporting it - by pointing out that the (THAI) family had to pay the (THAI) Land Registry Department twice for a job that should have been done properly in the first place! (I mentioned the fact that a member of the family had to check "what was happening" more than a year later, only to find that the original paperwork had not been filed/or had been "lost", so THEY (The family!) had to pay for the job to be done again)
