  1. Seems the white thing I saw in a power outlet was not eggs but a busted off prong from an extension cable plug.
  2. When the Sparky wired my house I counted the red wires and black wires (old power cable colour code). All added up but 2 less blacks as had 2 three phase heaters.
  3. B4I(square root sign)U RU/18?
  4. I've got the leakage current down to 0, at the moment, need to buy a couple of plugs and a socket tomorrow. Wish my beautiful wife would tell me when sockets are broken. 🙂
  5. Too much for my 80 year old brain.
  6. J/8 still don't get it. 😞
  7. One more go and I found the cct. 🙂
  8. As god would have it, I've filed the circuit....somewhere and not sure where the middle is. I have 3 rooms in the garage so should have installed 3 breakers in the CU which would have made tracing a fault easier. This was the first time I've power wired up the whole building (as you can probably tell). 🙂 I see some egg shells in one of wifeys outside water fountain, so may do that first. Good suggestion thanks. 😉
  9. Removed the power connections from the plug to the pool pump, chlorinator and pool lights. Fault still there, so it's in the power plug feed. I've lots of plugs everywhere, so will start from the plug nearest the CU disconnect the wiring and see when the fault disappears.
  10. While looking for my garage wiring circuit I found this about about a home built RCD test device. The web site is This is Prathumthani, I think. The information may be in the pinned threads at the start of the Electrical Forum as is from Crossy I think.
  11. White ants, flying ants, all termites me thinks. The expression 'that person is being white-anted by Bob' should be "that person is being termited by Bob". Yes but you are correct.
  12. You need to start a new thread as you suggested so people will see your problem. My threads go too long and your post will get missed. 🙂
  13. I found it, unfortunately the neutral goes to the pool pump and chlorinator. 😞 Enough for today, beer time 🙂 More tomorrow.
  14. Ants to me are a general classifier for termites as well. Yes I am sure there are many Thai electricians with Meggers. An 'off the cuff remark'.:)
  15. From the garage the power goes out to the big ON/OFF switch, then branched to lights behind the garage and to a CU on a pole then to another CU in the greenhouse. Looks a bit of a mess but those ant tracks maybe a clue. Tomorrow I think I'll start just disconnecting the wires to the ON/OFF switch first. Thanks again. 🙂
  16. Great thanks. I think I know where it could be coming from, my greenhouse. It's still a bit boggie there with 1 extension lead. That Megger you suggested is only B1000 something, so will buy that if no luck today. Probably the only person in Isaan with a megger. 🙂
  17. Nice bike seat to let your 'luk mark' (prostrate) hang free in the breeze. 🙂
  18. No. with all the breakers except the MCB double pole breaker removed from the garage CU and MCB on it trips. With the MCB off it doesn't trip.
  19. The new 30mA RCBO trips. But I'll try the "rel" function. 🙂
  20. No. I will do that today.
  21. Looks like I need a Megger. Leakage current now.
  22. My Thai friend does solar and I asked him for a price to initially install just one inverter so that I could get the fish tanks, green house and aquaponics setup going again (off at the moment as costs too much running air and water pumps 24/7). So he would install all the panels etc but 1 inverter instead of 3. Cost was around B90000 and his cost was B20000 labour, which I thought wss OK. No batteries.
  23. Why have 3 phase? We had a rice mill in the compound and the 3 phase PEA box was already on a power pole. When the rice mill was decomissioned we just moved the box to a new pole. As Crossy said it's great to have for redundancy. Just had an earth fault in the garage on one phase, so power off for to the garage for a couple of days, but the house was still powered up. Also when a phase goes low, can swap the phases around. Power, lights, aircons etc are split between the 3 phases, so losing 1 phase doesn't cause a big problem. Probably didn't need 3 phase multopoint water heaters, but the elecyrician said they were the bees knees. Has a lot of help from Crossy, including connecting my single phase genset to 3 phase house. Manufacturers said it couldn't be done then Crossy weaved his magic.
