  1. A couple of days ago I ruined my Epson 830 :o by messing around with the print head.

So today I went Tukcom in Pattaya to look for a new printer...they don't seem to have a very good selection but in the end I bought a Canon IP4000 as it's had good reviews.. 7000 baht OK it's not the cheapest , but cheap isn't always cheap in the end.

  2. Sorry, I don't know how much they charge to park your car at Bangkok airport.

Recently left mine in a petrol station near the airport for 2 months !!

On my return the owner of the petrol station had towed the car away.He thought it might be a bomb as one would ha ha it's a wreck of a car.

Cost me 2,000 baht to get it back ... he said if I had parked it on the other side of the forecourt that would have been no problem :-)

Next time I'll be getting a Taxi ... driving in Bangkok is a nightmare.

  3. useless for small network as it had been asked

Francois was the above a typo ? I hope it was or poeple here might get the idea that IPCop is useless.

I have been using IPCop since it branched from Smoothwall, and although my Linux skills are useless, Ipcop has certainly been very usefull for me.

The best things about it are that it takes an old pentium low spec computer and turns it into a firewall/router internet gateway,DNS server,Web proxy/cache, NTP time server etc very easyly. (use new hispec hardware if you want)

If you run into problems there are many support groups that offer quick and free support. If you don't like something about the way IPCop works you can change it. There are many addons that enhance it's features. http://firewalladdons.sourceforge.net/index.html (hope the mod is ok with that :o )

  4. Maybe you could try changing the encoding in your browser setup from Thai to Western European, it should autoselect but seems to get confused sometimes.

For internet Explorer its View -->Encoding --->Thai or Western European.

  5. Can't see anything about money at all !

It says you can put the sender name in English only upto 9 characters

the message can be 135 characters (English) one Thai character = three English.

You can send to AIS and DTAC contract numbers with about 70 percent success Dprompt and One2call 5 percent success

    Orange 0 percent

Then it says we won't keep your details.

Ah ha now it says บริการฟรี! ทั้งผู้รับและผู้ส่ง free service for sender and receiver..

    That's enough isn't it ??? :o

  6. I used Skype today to call England and Sweden PC to PC and used the Skype out PC to landline with no problems I'm using TT&T / Hi-Net.

Also a friend called England today using Skype PC -PC

TT&T/Ji-Net 256k and it was fine.

    We are both in Pattaya.

  7. As you mentioned, international speeds are (at times) at dial-up "modem" speeds.

    from Ji-net's web site

DSL-Compax 256 limited data transfer for 5 GB per month, The surplus user may cause to reduce speed to 25 Kbps(True and ADC Only)

DSL-Compax 512 limited data transfer for 10 GB per month, The surplus user may cause to reduce speed to 50 Kbps(True and ADC Only)

    :o

  8. The "Visa Shop" charges 2200 baht all inclusive but no breakfast or lunch is included... they normaly make two refreshment stops on the way to Cambodia and two stops on the way back. I believe they only go to Pong Nam Ron on Mondays. No need to show funds on the 8th of November.

  9. I went there on a visa run ( with the " Visa Shop " ) on monday the 8th of November.

It was much much better than Aranyaprathet, no beggers no kids no other tourists/ visa runners at all. I think (could be wrong ) everyone of us was on 30 day visa's the imigration officers on both sides where very friendly,

all smiles it probably made thier day to have some work to do :o

  10. I'm in Pattaya........accessed it no problem just now. I/m using T-Net on a T .T &T phone line
How strange !! I'm using the Hi-Net service from TOT with a TT&T telephone line.

I also had to use a proxy for Betfair when I was using Ji-Net as an ISP

The Hi-Net service does seem to block more sites ( but it's cheap ) recently they had a spate of blocking sites that listed proxy servers like

    http://www.publicproxyservers.com/page1.html

    and

    http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/proxy_list

Ministry Of Information and Communication Technology

    What a bunch of wowsers!

    Agreed :o

  11. The IP addresses are the same on both the Zyxel and the Linksys

They should not be the same IP address you should set one to something like 192.168.1.1 the other 192.168.1.2 ( if your lan is using that ip range ) and make sure no other piece of equipment on your lan is using those numbers.

Your lan could be using one of the other private address spaces don't use 0 or 255

    for the last number.

    10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)

    172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)

    192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)

  12. TT&T / Hi-Net was fine for me on wednesday.

Whenever I have problems I pull the phone line out of the wall socket and wait 5 minutes put the phone line back in and "viola" it works again, well it works 99% of the time :D

Today they where playing around with google :o

  13. What's that Thai beer like then? Anything alog the lines of Leo?
It's stronger than Leo and more bitter tasting but cheaper at 35 baht per big bottle.

Goes well with something hot and spicey (food)

3 bottles and your pissed? Not much of a drinker then.

Yep 3 bottles of Thai beer and I'm anybodys , however I can drink half a litre of 40 % vodka and just feel a slight buzz , strange that aint it ? :D

Ohh and Jockstar you drink too much :o

  14. The prices for used cars in Thailand are just crazy, you will often see twenty year old car with a for sale sign in the window 70,000 baht !!!!!!!!! it would sell for at most 200 UKP.. 14,000 baht in the UK.

Also the roads are very harsh on suspension components and crash damaged repairs using two or more pieces of different cars (cut and shut) seem common

however they normaly come with a nice new coat of paint :o

Be very carefull buying a used car in Thailand, take a Thai mechanic with you if you can. Get a Thai to do the haggling.

a 10 year old mazda for 60,000 baht

Sounds like a good deal (in the crazy over inflated Thai used car market )
