  1. As you mentioned, international speeds are (at times) at dial-up "modem" speeds.

    from Ji-net's web site

DSL-Compax 256 limited data transfer for 5 GB per month, The surplus user may cause to reduce speed to 25 Kbps(True and ADC Only)

DSL-Compax 512 limited data transfer for 10 GB per month, The surplus user may cause to reduce speed to 50 Kbps(True and ADC Only)

    :o

  2. The "Visa Shop" charges 2200 baht all inclusive but no breakfast or lunch is included... they normaly make two refreshment stops on the way to Cambodia and two stops on the way back. I believe they only go to Pong Nam Ron on Mondays. No need to show funds on the 8th of November.

  3. I went there on a visa run ( with the " Visa Shop " ) on monday the 8th of November.

It was much much better than Aranyaprathet, no beggers no kids no other tourists/ visa runners at all. I think (could be wrong ) everyone of us was on 30 day visa's the imigration officers on both sides where very friendly,

all smiles it probably made thier day to have some work to do :o

  4. I'm in Pattaya........accessed it no problem just now. I/m using T-Net on a T .T &T phone line
How strange !! I'm using the Hi-Net service from TOT with a TT&T telephone line.

I also had to use a proxy for Betfair when I was using Ji-Net as an ISP

The Hi-Net service does seem to block more sites ( but it's cheap ) recently they had a spate of blocking sites that listed proxy servers like

    http://www.publicproxyservers.com/page1.html

    and

    http://www.stayinvisible.com/index.pl/proxy_list

Ministry Of Information and Communication Technology

    What a bunch of wowsers!

    Agreed :o

  5. The IP addresses are the same on both the Zyxel and the Linksys

They should not be the same IP address you should set one to something like 192.168.1.1 the other 192.168.1.2 ( if your lan is using that ip range ) and make sure no other piece of equipment on your lan is using those numbers.

Your lan could be using one of the other private address spaces don't use 0 or 255

    for the last number.

    10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)

    172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)

    192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)

  6. TT&T / Hi-Net was fine for me on wednesday.

Whenever I have problems I pull the phone line out of the wall socket and wait 5 minutes put the phone line back in and "viola" it works again, well it works 99% of the time :D

Today they where playing around with google :o

  7. What's that Thai beer like then? Anything alog the lines of Leo?
It's stronger than Leo and more bitter tasting but cheaper at 35 baht per big bottle.

Goes well with something hot and spicey (food)

3 bottles and your pissed? Not much of a drinker then.

Yep 3 bottles of Thai beer and I'm anybodys , however I can drink half a litre of 40 % vodka and just feel a slight buzz , strange that aint it ? :D

Ohh and Jockstar you drink too much :o

  8. The prices for used cars in Thailand are just crazy, you will often see twenty year old car with a for sale sign in the window 70,000 baht !!!!!!!!! it would sell for at most 200 UKP.. 14,000 baht in the UK.

Also the roads are very harsh on suspension components and crash damaged repairs using two or more pieces of different cars (cut and shut) seem common

however they normaly come with a nice new coat of paint :o

Be very carefull buying a used car in Thailand, take a Thai mechanic with you if you can. Get a Thai to do the haggling.

a 10 year old mazda for 60,000 baht

Sounds like a good deal (in the crazy over inflated Thai used car market )

  9. Old computers ( generally ) will consume more electricity than newer ones, but

    50 % higher than ??????

If your last electricity bill was 100 baht and it's now 200 then I'm not surprised.

However if your last bill was 2000 baht and it's now 4000 baht :o

  10. Agreed TukCom Sri Racha is the best place check out the top floor

for cheapest second hand gear only one shop up there ! they don't always have much stock though.

The TukCom in Pattaya is very badly behind schedule, will it ever open ????

  11. liberiosyah :

For over 18's wanting to play Ragnarok after 10pm they must first go to the post office and fill out a form (proof of age is required) they then get a special username and password that they can use after 10pm when the normal Ragnarok servers are shutdown. There is of course nothing stoping an under 18 using his or hers older friends account to play after the curfew :o

For (some) game licenceing you need to look here.

http://www.bmmedia.co.th/shop_spec.html they only seem to have the rights to a few games though so what happens when you want to have a game like "Need for speed" ???? I don't know.

Ha ha answer my own question http://www.ea.co.th/

From what I have read the closing at 10 pm is still voluntary to do with the "Goodnet" scheme.

  12. I thought that was a promotion they ran during the summer.

Yes you could well be right I did sign up about 3 months ago.

The strange thing is the picture I posted for the T speed /Hi-net came with this months phone bill, so I asumed it was still available.

I thought the promotion was... free set up fee and free ADSL modem
