Why is it always so hard getting information out of people? Instead of saying "where I go to" why not just name the city? That would make it much easier for people to give advice. Saying how long you want to stay would also be helpful.

Thank you KK... but I have done the Math (as our American friends would say, as I have been doing this route for 19 years now) --I can go into directly to Brisbane on a normal but restricted amount of airlines actually just 1... Thai  Air. So you see it wasn't to difficult.*

Budget Airlines don't go into Brisbane international at all, but into the Coolangata  some 110 Klms away.

I can do the fly over the Airport wait in Sydney/Melbourne etc then fly back to Brisbane trip, which turns the 9 hour into a 12-14 hour. I have flown the Budget airlines around Asia but they do not have business class option on board for me to go and look at, hence the enquiry .

But thank you for taking the time to post the Malay Air tip.

**Austrian Air do a direct flight @ 400% more then Thai.

  2. Progress huh..... went to look on Google---could only see some that were in Eastwood, but a bit like we had in our back garden, they were on wheels at the sides, & when they filled them up you didn't get any daylight ...but the council compensated you by reducing the rent by 19 pence....

Anyway lets get back to these 10 million Baht condo's in BKK.

Go ahead & buy mate---some people on here live their lives like they have another one in the bank.....

I think the 16% you quote as the law, is an annual interest rate, but Thai's get confused between Daily, Weekly, Monthly. and Term rate.

Yes it is the annual rate cracker --which is always quoted in the west--but you are right they (the private loaners ) do mainly quote monthly rates.

There are 3 types of loans here (Thailand)

Kai-Far ...which is 100% safe so is often quoted at a much lower rate.

Jum Nong...which is much like a Bank Mortgage---not as safe as the first

Gooul Ngein ....completely unsafe, with no goods or collateral to back it up, therefore very high interest rates and big men to enforce.

I am sure I have spelt every one of them wrong---its just how I hear them pronounced to my tone deaf ear,,,,

My confusion (yes, I know anything can be bought in the legal system here) is how the hell can police/court pursue criminal charges to enforce a criminal act from one law breaker to another law breaker? It's like one criminal who wasn't caught just walking into a police station and pointing the finger at someone for doing the same thing, they implicate themselves in the process.

Prostitution is illegal here---try not paying the girl the next morning--& the police will sort it out for you. On loans--if it goes to court they can sometimes reduce the % (dok Beer) to 16% which is the highest amount you can legally charge. But they do take the view (I think correctly) that with prostitution or Loans -- that you are an adult that entered into an agreement, that agreement should be honoured, not slipped out of on technicalities or small print.

  5. Anyone done the Air Asia--or any of the budget Airlines Flat-beds.? I am doing an Oz trip with the wife about March, where I go to in Oz its over 9 hours, & its a night flight.

So...contemplating should I take a mortgage out and go business on one of the standard airlines -- around the 70K-80K each mark, or try to get some feed back on the budget airline flat-beds. about 30K each.

    .

    Welcome any feed back.

  8. Surely the bigger story here is a 10 year visa for ex-pats over 50--for 10,000 baht.

It get a 2 line mention here--makes the headline in the Business section of the Thai newspaper we can not quote. 3 million in the bank or 100,000 a month income.  You must have health insurance, for at least US$1,000 for outpatient care and $10,000 or more for inpatient care per policy per year.

Where does that leave their elite card.

No I haven't been driving around counting buses, but previously whenever you were in the traffic jam on Nua road or Sukhumvit there would be plenty of buses in front and behind you. Recently that is not the case anymore.

Well that's it then, No buses in front of you or behind you, no washing. They must have cut their holiday short and all gone home. Please tell me you don't work in Thailand with anything to do with figures.

How many people are actually morbidly obese ?

I don't know---JT has banged this drum for so long but has never mentioned what his weight & hight is, it seems like every week or so he comes up with a new way to lose weight, that doesn't involve sweating. "We can breath deeper & the fat will go" --"we can sleep longer & lose weight" etc   etc

& I think Robblok, is right he does see himself as the victim, not the perpetrator. With quotes like some people can not lose weight--Really show me one picture of a concentration camp with a fat man in it. Show me some photos of an African country whose crop has failed & point out the big Jolly fat man in the Pic who doesn't eat anything but has a size 50 waist. After reading so many posts from JT I would say, you don't have the will to lose weight-so get ready for obese life style.

    .

Do I know you--no,   but I have known so many  people like you , male & female who always look for the easy way out-the 2 minute exercise routine that doesn't make your heart beat too fast, How to eat doughnuts the right way & not put on weight.

No wonder the fat industry is worth billions in America, UK, Oz etc etc

Its really not science JT-its just the will to do. And when you go back to your keyboard  & slag off at me--just think, shouldn't I be out having a stiff walk instead.

  14. Any Advice for going to Siem Reap via Aranyaprathet

    .

Yes stay away from the girls in Poi Pet....it was number 1 for HIV now downgraded to 2nd in the world, thanks to some little town in Africa. last time I went-it was 7 years ago but I got a great deal from the travel agent on 2nd road opposite top of soi 7......gave us a van to the border, a van with guide to Siem Reap, 3 days including hotel all food at night--and a guide around Siem Reap, which is nice to have someone explaining it all to you, plus a pass to the temples (was $us20 then) there was 4 of us in the van, all friends so we took it over, as we didn't want to see the death camps and big piles of sculls etc from war. Just done more temples.

7,000 baht each-- It was 7 years ago but check the Pattaya Travel agents out they usually do have some good deals, & its great being taken to the place, and driven around as its quite spaced out. Have to look at getting there getting back etc.

    .

Some wonderful stuff there----I do wish they would protect it better, people are putting their hands on the carvings (millions of them) with the sweat etc.

Have a look at the pink temple all built by women---and of course everyone wants their photo taken at the Laura Croft (tomb raiders ) temple.  It is quite amazing though---- I wonder what they thought when they started to clear away by that tree, and went down and down until the tree sits on the roof with all the roots running down the walls.
