Moving homes and notifying immigration
Maestro replied to MarcelV's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Section 37.2 or the Immigration Act requires you to notify immigration of your change. This is independent of the TM.30 notification under Section 38 by whoever is doing that notification. The immigration office has a special form for this. immigration_act_b.e._2522.pdf However, some immigration offices apparently no longer enforce this requirement, wherefore it is best for you to ask your immigration office how they handle this. -

From the way I understand the OP, he has not yet moved to the new address. -
Moving homes and notifying immigration

Ah, now things ate getting clearer. Due to the scarcity of information in your opening post of this topic, I and, it seems also other readers, have made two mistakes: 1. I assumed that you were renting the dwelling to which you are moving; 2. I assumed that you were enquiring about the legal requirement of the notification of the arrival of a foreigner at a dwelling to be made by the householder, possessor or owner of the dwelling, in this forum generally referred to as the TM.30 report or the TM.30 notification, for short. I now ask you to ignore everything that I and others wrote about the TM.30 notification. Going back to square one and looking at the information you have actually provided so far, ie "... just changed my address...", "should I notify immigration immediately", and "I am not the owner of the new home. My partner is", your question is about the notification of your change of address to a new address within the area of responsibility of the same immigration office where you currently live. The deadline for complying with this legal requirement of notifying the immigration office of the change of address is the same regardless of whether or not the new address is within the area of responsibility of the same immigration office. I believe it is 24 hours but I am not sure. As not all immigration offices apply the rule in the same manner, you are best advised to contact the immigration office for guidance. -

@MarcelV Officially, you should do it immediately but some immigration offices do not mind if it is done with the next 90-day report or the next extension of stay, whichever comes first. Best do it right away. -

The householder, who in this case is the tenant, MarcelV, should do it. -

From what has been said or published by government sources so far, retirement is not one of the activities that would qualify for the DTV. At present, the DTV is still a project under discussion by the government and we have to see what criteria and conditions apply if and when this type of visa gets implemented. -

Big Thailand visa changes from June 1

The validity period of any visa starts on the day the visa is issued. What you are talking about is the validity period of the permission to stay, ie the "admitted on" date in the arrival stamp an immigration official puts in the traveller's passport, what you call getting "stamped in" -
A dictionary definition won't do for Thailand's visas. Basically, in Thailand, an immigrant is the holder of a certificate of Permanent Residence, what we call a Permanent Resident on the this forum. This permanence ends when he leaves Thailand and if he wants to return to Thailand with the intention of resuming his immigrant status, he must, before his departure, apply at his immigration office for a non-quota immigrant visa valid for one ore multiple return entries into Thailand within the validity period of the visa. Non-immigrants are all foreigners who are not immigrants, some of whom have a non-immigrant visa, depending on the purpose of their trip to Thailand or the rason for their stay in Thailand.

I don't read it as being in force only for a limited period of four months, but we have to wait and see the official announcement in the Royal Gazette. It would be interesting to see the Thai text for what has been translated or interpreted as "This change to the Non-O-A will be implemented between September and December 2024", particularly the word "implemented" as you have highlighted. On the basis of currently available information I take it to mean that the change will be put into force sometime between September and December and from that point forward will remain in force until it is changed again.
