  1. My point was Thai children are taught to call gay men ladyboys from a young age and that term is accepted in Thailand. I think you should get used to it if you live in Thailand and interact with Thai people and stop casting aspersions on Thai people identified as ladyboys by calling them straight men (I think that was you, my apologies if I got it wrong,)

Haha. So if Thai people start jumping off the cliffs I should also follow?

  2. Gay and ladyboy are not one of the same. People happily accept gay, people do not accept men who look like women and yet act like men and are notoriously known for their crime activities.

Just because you confused, does not mean others arethumbsup.gif

When I was teaching in Thailand the children called all the gay boys, "Ladyboys." Were all the Thai children confused too?whistling.gif

Thai culture traditionally has a place for transgender men (that's about gender identity). It does NOT have a traditional place for the more modern concept of gay male identity (that's about sexual orientation), which came from the west. So not sure I would say they are confused. They are Thai. The western view and modern view which more modern Thais are aware of as well, is that gender identity and sexual orientation are very different things.

Of course there has been gay sex through the ages in Thailand and everywhere, not talking here about gay sex when referring to the modern concept of gay male as an IDENTITY.

Seems the only question then is are we discussing traditional gays in the West or in Thailand. You are of course correct in the West, however this is Thailand and when Thais refer to a man as a ladyboy they mean gay (except the modern Thais of which there are 3 in Bangkok and 2 in CM).

To the best of my knowledge, there are no Thai kids who are members of this forum or posting in this thread, so would be safe to assume we are discussing from Western point of view, Being ignorant is never really something to be proud of. even when it comes to kids

Thai kids also do not know geography, does that mean there are no other countries in the world?

  4. Oh so fags don't have mothers or fathers, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, colleagues, and others who might want to attend their funeral...so you subscribe to the canard that all queers and homos lead empty solitary lives of quiet desperation (preying on little boys no doubt) and die alone (by suicide right). You're truly one sick <deleted>...and if that opinion get me a suspension I'll gladly wear it with honor.

Well, planet where i come from, parents usually get older before kids and die before kids, leaving kids to bury the parents.

Seems you have some serious issues, perhaps best to take it up with medical professional instead of leashing out at people.thumbsup.gif

  5. I'm sorry if my post was offensive to you. It certainly wasn't my intent...but a sincere inquiry. To be perfectly frank, on this topic, I find little difference between your posted opinions, couched in slightly more polite language, and the out and out trans-bashers and haters speech posted throughout this thread. With the latest being some kook wishing them cheap funerals, whatever that's supposed to mean.

Maybe it's time to close the thread as any topic concerning ladyboys seems to bring out all the homophobes...seemingly because they know they can't openly bash gays on the forum without drawing a red-card or worse, so they double down on the trans bashing as an acceptable substitute.

No we leave the breeding and expense of raising our young to you heteros, that's why we have fabulous cars, homes, and vacations ?

You forgot to mention, great cheap funerals toothumbsup.gif
I hate to contemplate the meaning of your statement...maybe JT can explain it as he seems to be one of the haters now. Maybe I should just report it as hate speech.

Not too sure why you struggle with understanding or why you think JT would need to explain.

Its pretty simple, you stated unlike heteros who raise kids, while you(whoever that may be,, from my understanding ladyboy lover) has great cars, homes etc.

So you do not have kids and when you die, funeral would be cheap, because no family to attend, memorial would be cheap because no need to engrave the name of kids. So basically die alone, so again no need put on a big wake.

I do struggle to understand though, you prefer man who look like women,, is it confusion? or something else?

  8. Thought do an update.

Refund was received 7 days later, though it was not a refund to my original purchase but a new refund, which means due to currency changes( i paid with foreign credit card) i lost about $12.

Anyhow, 10 days later, i received my welcome letter along with policy.

Here is a funny part, actually 2 parts

    1. They had promotion where if you paid in one payment, you get 1000 baht fuel voucher, NO voucher with policy

    2. I had purchased policy on the 6th, Customer service swore my policy was effective from the 6th, only the policy i had received from Falcon started from the 10th.

SO if i was to let it go, and have an accident before the 10th, in fact i was not covered.

Now i also realize i cancelled the policy so no petrol voucher, HOWEVER i cancelled the next day the 7th, policy was actually issued on the 10th(3 days after my cancellation) and posted to me, so voucher should have been included.

If assuming cancellation was received, so voucher is void, then why would the policy be issued on the 10th, and posted out?.

Not too sure if i would feel safe if i had to lodge a claim with this company.

PS, ended up getting policy from AXA, about 3500 baht more but at least i know i am safe, plus free road side assistance and towing.

  9. Maybe Jews aren't supposed to be black...at least according to the police officer...probably mistook him for an Arab.

Actually you would be hard pressed to find a group more racist against blacks than the Arabs. Their word for black and slave are one and the same. They were far more prolific in taking slaves from Africa than the West ever was. Indeed when the Libyan regime was toppled I suggest you check what happened to black sub-Saharan Africans working there.

P.s Don't tell Boko Haram or the Nation of Islam though or their heads might explode.

Cant find the Nation of Islam on the map. Must update it

  10. So are you saying, as part of granting judgment for the plaintiffs, the courts in those two cases also required the defendants to cover the plaintiffs' legal fees above and beyond the judgment amounts?

I can only answer you with certainty from personal experience.

I sued for losses plus legal fees.

I was given all legal fees, but not the full asking amount for losses.

When you file a case, you have option to ask for legal fees, all depends on courts if it will grant all or partial fees.

In Thailand, similar as in most other country's, the person who wins the court case will get awarded legal fees. Unfortunately in Thailand, similar as in most other country's, the rewarded fees are only a fraction of the lawyers real cost.

Not true!!... In my case... I was awarded full reimbursement of all costs and principal debt...

So in Thailand a lawyer can charge whatever he likes and the judge will award it?

That isn't what a Thai lawyer told me a few months ago, when I asked him about, and also doesn't seem to be what is quoted in Langsuan Man's post .

The lawyer in question answered me the same, as what is my experience in the western courts, and that is that a judge awards a certain amount as litigation costs, but the Lawyers real charges are likely to be higher than the awarded amount.

I am guessing lawyer you spoke to was either a scammer or not experienced in court litigation or was not sure if he could win.

In my case, legal fees were agreed upon before filing , contract signed and money paid.

Courts awarded my costs. May be if your legal fees are by the hour, then you would be out of pocket.

I have visited Israel, and found it to be an extremely racist society.

By contrast I have travelled with many delightfully civilized Israelis who helped me find the summits of Mt Kackar in Turkey Mt Tronador in Argentina, and the Lamayuru trail in Zanskar amongst many other very pleasant encounters.

I wish for a better less hate filled future for them.

Not too long ago, you claimed to have been to Palestine, and now its Israel

    I wonder whats next?whistling.gif

Now you have found it to be racist?

Dex, i am sorry, but you really are laugh.thumbsup.gif, great imagination and selective reading

PPS. So mother does not need to be Jewish, only the Grandmother?facepalm.gif

In answer to your question I have visited Israel extensively and also occupied East Jerusalem and parts of the Occupied West Bank.I have have also traveled widely in Lebanon as far south as Tyre (Sour), Syria, Jordan and Egypt. But have not been to Gaza.
In several conversations with young Israeli Jews I was shocked at the vehemence of their racial hatred towards other non Jews in view of their own historical Jewish persecution. I was never discriminated against myself as a non Jew in Israel by anyone Israeli Jew or Palestinian.
In a taxi ride up to the Golan Heights all hell broke loose with other Jewish passengers when I criticized aspects of Israeli history they regarded as politically incorrect.
I suggest you consult www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/whojew1.html to discover who exactly is defined as a Jew...not even a maternal grandmother apparently!
The Ethiopian Jews in the OP whom you disparage as non Jews easily qualify; many of them of course were born in Israel, have fought in the IDF, but are still discriminated against.

You do have creative imagination, so please forgive me for not believing a single word.thumbsup.gif

Thank God for Google and moderators.giggle.gif

One thing i do find somewhat interesting is your own contradictions.

First you proclaim to be jewish grandmother must be jewish and back up your cliam with a link.

Now you do a uturn and claim that not even grandmother is enough, with another link

So is it safe to assume you normally post incorrect information? Rhetorical question,, no answer is requiredwai2.gif

  12. Some inexperienced drivers may allow you to open it before receiving the payment , but usually they will not.

Try to open a COD package in your home country, before paying....impossible in my country.

Here, I had never any problems, to check the items for correct delivery, before paying.

But you probably can't open/destroy the cartons to do a functionality test.

And if something is packed in a "neutral" carton, I would decline the payment until I could check what's inside the pack. (Never happened until now)

I think with COD you are 99% safe.

I tried a few times and all times driver insisted if i opened i would have to pay as they could not take it back "opened"

  13. Welcome to the world of Lazada.

    Too many topics praising them.

Every time someone has a problem, others just laugh it off.

Bottom line is when order goes smoothly everyone is happy, the moment something goes wrong, Lazada turns it into a nightmare.

Posted on another thread, ordered dog bed, received wrong bed.

5 weeks to have it collected back, over a month in "inspecting " and still no refund.

This was not the first time for me, each time wrong order was sent it was the same headache and time wasting.

Use to buy a lot but now stopped, way too often wrong items sent.

You making a good fist of balancing up the positive posts with a repetition of your own experience.

I guess that, like me, you can only speak as you find.

In my case I have bought over 20 items and not had any issues.

    This is my latest experience.

If you like to hear about previous ones, here you

    1. Ordered blue shoes, received green ladies shoes. about 2.5 months to get refund

    2. Ordered water filtration system, filters can not be changed, again 2.5 months foe refund

    3. Ordered one of those expansive coolers, which was suppose to have FREE rice cooker, no rice cooker received. 3 months to get refund

    4. Ordered Dolce Gusto coffee set with machine and coffee, only instead of 30 boxes, received 10.2 months of arguing, i just gave up

    5. Ordered 30 remote controlled fans. Driver refused to unload and bring it in, demanding and expecting i do the work

I can go on, but i am sure you can see the pattern here

  14. COD every time, if they don't accept COD for the particular product you want then you have to ask why ?

I suspect Lazada is fighting some of their own drop shippers who are abusing the system and not sending the goods as they should.

If they don't accept COD then I would treat it as suspicious and not order.

While COD sounds great, in reality driver will not give you back the money once you opened the box and found its the wrong item .

Some inexperienced drivers may allow you to open it before receiving the payment , but usually they will not.

I also do not believe they need to fight .

Lazada gets paid and then pays the retailers less Lazada fees.

  17. Politically unstable, corrupt country with archaic laws.

I'd think its in the best interest of ex pats to keep assets in the west.

Everyone needs a home but considering the limitations here, isn't it better to avoid tying up large amounts of capital you'll possibly never realise?

Each to their own but I've met several who wished they didn't buy/build the big house.

They want to sell but can't.

    Worn out excuses.

With all the corruption and unstable laws and all the rest, hardly anyone was kicked out or had their property taken away from them

Now with ASEAN coming in,there would be more "renters? so expect rent prices to go up as demand will also go up.

If demand for rents go up, so will the property prices.

Thailand has experienced development boom, yes, but once all land is built up, there will be no more new condo's or housing developments.

Anything new would be deep into jungle, outside city circles.

Sometimes have to think 10 years ahead, not just 1-2 year prospects.

I am thinking 10 years ahead, not less.

ASEAN and its advantages will have an affect on the property market but not in the short and possibly intermediate term.

There is more competitive (cheaper labour) in countries either side of us.

Yes, Thailand does have better infrastructure and a strong manufacturing base but it will not grow fast enough to impede the current supply of property, hence rental costs and property values rising significantly.

Since the inception of ASEAN i can only think of an increase in the commercial aviation sector and just several in manufacturing that have increased GDP and more specifically jobs here.

..."but once all land is built up, there will be no more new condo's or housing developments."

That's a long way away yet. I live near Chatuchak and there is still a lot of undeveloped land. Not far from home there are new build condominiums in the making but there is no great demand from buyers yet, however some there are.

Chaeng Wattana saw many new builds several years ago that are still unoccupied and remember the new BTS is covering this area.

I'll keep my 2 properties in Australian city fringe locations.

My situation doesn't warrant either as I live with my wife in what was originally her home; now it's our home.

If I could buy land and dwelling here in my own name with favourable lending, perhaps I would. But since I can't, I won't.

I use to live in Bkk, about 6-7 years ago in Asok area.

In that area anything new was sold out pretty fast.

I no longer follow BKK market, but seeing some prices, i think it is way over priced.

Many new developments, while nice, are asking Australian prices, which is crazy, considering its Thailand.

Condo where i lived for the entire time, prices doubled if not tripled in 6-7 years i was there.and it was an older building (sukhumvit soi 10)

I am in Pattaya, and while some are overpriced, many are well priced.

  18. anyway, the logical conclusion (neither assumption nor speculation) is that nothing will happen based on the wishi-washi ASEAN declaration of intention as far as the "managed mobility or facilitated entry for the movement of natural persons" is concerned and further hampered by wide-open backdoors such as "according to the prevailing regulations of the receiving country" as well as "engaged in cross-border trade and investment related activities".

    Ok, if you say so

  21. Perhaps this demonstration will be a wake up call for Israelis to see the racism in their midst. When people are unjustly persecuted and repressed long enough, eventually they rise up in anger and cry enough is enough.
I didn’t realize just how badly Ethiopian Jews were discriminated against on the grounds of their race. Interesting item in Al Jazeera about the background to the OP
    Ethiopian Jews: Not Jewish enough
"My blood is good enough for army service, but not good enough after," shouted a woman at a line of riot police last Thursday in Jerusalem.
"My brother is in Golani [an army unit] and so was I, but I can't get a job; I face racism when I want to move into an apartment," said another man in Tel Aviv on Sunday night.

    Yeah,nice try.

Its a fact, do some light reading. A huge number of Ethiopians who came to Israel are not and were never Jewish.

People were starving in Ethiopia and Israel open doors for Jews, gave free airfare and start up money.

Many Non jews took advantage of it, many still trying to enter illegally.

A large number of them hardly keep any jewish traditions, because they are not jewish.

    Naturally all suffer from generalization.

But even with all that crap, their life's are much better than back in Ethiopia or even better treated than foreigners in Thailand.

If you really want to see discrimination and mistreatment, look at the neighbors where Palestinians are kept in camps for decades and not allowed to leave the camps.

No rights at all, no chance of ever becoming a citizen or perm resident

What are your sources for these claims? Or is this myth about Ethiopian Jews part and cause of the discrimination problem?

Did the diaspora only reach white areas of Europe or Asian areas of the Middle East. Could it possibly have reached African Ethiopia which is much closer?

It certainly begs the question, What is Jewishness?

Is it simply having a Jewish grandmother, while descendants can be secular or even atheists.

Would a white secular or even atheist Jew in an IDF uniform have been treated the same way by the police as the Ethiopian?

I would suggest you visit Israel, instead of referring to Jihad or Hamas mediathumbsup.gif

It begs the question of what is Jewishness? are you kidding me? or ran out of bashing material?rolleyes.gif

Jewish grandmother? you are joking right? For someone with such extensive knowledge of Israel, its policies and even use of "jewish" words you sure failed to learn the basicswhistling.gif

What is the difference here being secular or atheist? was he "beaten" because of this or because of being black or because of refusing to follow police direction?

Again, i would suggest you watch the video of so called "beating",is one punch now a beating?blink.png

  22. To your last question about ASEAN.

What measurements? simple logic and common sense.

More people come over to work, more people free to move around= more property is needed for them to live, unless you think they would be living under palm treeslaugh.png

Prices decreasing at the moment, because its a low season. Check the price of the same condo in 6 months time.

    Pattaya rentals have gone up

Sorry to be pedantic; however, logic and common sense are based on assumptions. If the assumptions are incorrect, logic and common sense can fail dismally.

The Thai economy is not performing well. Personal debt levels of Thais are very high. So, my logic and common sense is expecting a recession. I think we need data and information. ASEAN could well fail to percolate into the Thai economy.

    "All crows are black"

    "That bird is black"

"Therefore, that bird is a crow"

You assuming personal debt is in property.

3 of my neighbor at the moment have cars worth 6 million(each),while the house they live in is worth 2.5 millionthumbsup.gif

Recession is also not a permanent factor, it does pass. If you buying to flip then yeah, but if you buying to live, i would be looking at, at least 10 years before i would be selling.
