  1. I sincerely feel sorry for the Thai people, especially anyone working for 300 baht/day. Prices everywhere are going up, especially food, so I just don't know how they survive. Here in Canada, one could say the minimum wage is very good compared to Thailand, but if you don't own your own house or condo fully, rent and heat costs alone could almost take away all your months wages. Many people here are in the same situation in that they owe a lot of money to the banks. On top of that Winters are very long and there is no beach or sunshine to cheer you up.

Thai minimum wage workers are no different to other countries minimum wage workers.

The only difference is a large number of minimum wage workers in other countries take a second job to earn more, while in Thailand, its hard to get them to do OT let alone work on day off with extra pay.

  2. Do not hold me to it, but i believe most bars were bought up by 1 middle eastern gentleman. Since then prices have doubled if not tripled, and clientele base changed from expats to middle eastern.

When i refer to prices doubling, i do not mean drinks but fines and "private time"

  3. My guess is that the stress is from fear in losing one's job when one is also drowning from debt repayments.

    Your guess would be wrongtongue.png

Stress is from Facebook being down for few hours, slow internet to access facebook and fear of being caught playing on facebook during working hourslaugh.png

  4. 1. So to solve debt, their idea is to pay more? instead of teaching to live within means or how to plan the money?

    2. More benefits such as? How about some benefits for the businesses? Say employees actually working instead of playing on the phones or sleeping

    3. What happened with the last wage hike? price hikew00t.gif

    4. Since last wage hike, number of people in debt increased dramatically, why? because after being paid more, they spend more

    5. Being an export country, what would happen to the prices? Price Increase, what would happen with the buyers? Go shopping elsewhere.

    6. What skills minimum wage workers poses? answer is hardly any.It requires 5 people to do the job of one.

People who stay working with the same company for longer than 1 year and are useful do not get minimum wage and usually have pay rises every year, plus bonuses.

  5. Sitting down with loans officer as i want a loan for a big bike.

The bike i wanted is made by Taiwanese Company

He tells me, bank not lend money for foreign bikes, ONLY for Thai brand.

I was puzzled, so i asked what was the Thai brand and with a big green on his face, i was told Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki are ALL Thai brands.

I did try to explain, all of the above were Japanese, but were manufactured in Thailand,

However was interrupted and advised otherwise, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki are Thai brands, facepalm.gif

  6. So here you go OP, out of 11 posts, 3 people had nothing but unpleasant experience.

PS. This was not my first purchase, but is the last, as each time something goes wrong, they always make sure to make it into a bigger problem and stretch it for as long as possible

Keep trying Konying but that is still 73% satisfied or better and If a few of us add up all our purchases it will be nearer 90% satisfaction.

You are jinxed, don't use Lazada, but don't try and poison other peoples minds.

    Ra Ra for Lazada clap2.gif

Do not try to poison other people's mind?

Have you actually bothered to read at all?

All 3 have had similar experience, wrong products sent, moths of <deleted> around and waiting for refunds.

No problem, keep on buying, until you have a problem, but then do not make posts how to deal with it or what to dothumbsup.gif

  7. Another point to consider: when a customer buys using a card, the shop owner has to put the sale in his books (and then becomes recorded revenue). When it's cash payment, it could be different...

    :-)

Not the only or main reason.

With Thai banks, on top of credit card charge, bank withholds some tax on every transaction as well, so 3% turns more into 5 at least

Then accounting also gets more complicated, because monthly statements require passbook update and transaction receipt, should this transaction be refunded or partially refunded later, books do not add up and more headaches.

Easier for company's with inhouse accountants, but big headache for smaller businesses.

  8. I know only about Visa, M/C and Amex. It's strictly in violation of the store's merchant agreement. Of course the credit card issuers don't want them doing that and discouraging use. They would lose their merchant status if caught so if you want to go to the trouble of reporting them including sending in documentation go ahead. It isn't worth the hassle to me.

If merchants lose their ability to take those cards their sales plummet so it's a two way street. The CC companies are very strict about this and the merchant pays the fee to make the sale.

    Up to you.

    Merchant would never lose anything.

First Master or Visa will contact the bank, bank then will contact the merchant.

Merchant states there is price for cash and price for credit cards, case closed.

Do you honestly think bank or master card willing to lose a customer? as a merchant, we pay 3% , plus in many cases annual fee as well.

All car dealers in Australia put on a surcharge if you want to pay with a card.

Cheap shops set minimums to purchase or extra % or set amount is added to the total.

Electronics and IT sellers offer discounts for cash payments, which happen to be about the amount of master or visa charge.

The only ones who do not set limits or charge extra are large supermarket chains, because they get a discounted rate of like 0.5-1% charge for every transaction, plus other promotions from the banks and master/visa.

  9. I'm spouting the reverse of what most people have been bashing on about in this thread which is the sorry state of Thai employees. The three guys I mentioned have all done very well and become billionaires using Thai employees. When confronted with facts you start trashing success saying it must be dirty.

What we have on your part is jealousy because you could not compete in the real rough and tumble world of Thai business. Of course it's not easy. Some win some lose. Every dollar made in the commodities market is lost by someone else. There are always winners and losers. Losing economies run out of jobs not people hence the labor shortage in Thailand.

Again, they did not do well because of employees, they did well because of "dealings"

No, we do not have jealousy, i do not want nor need that much money.

One thing you fail to realize, this much money does not fall from the sky, nor does it come from employees,

Rest assured many people have been hurt, scammed and killed while above mentioned climbed.

While the life of rich looks great from the outside, it is far from great on the inside.thumbsup.gif

I am certain you will still struggle to understand, so make a visit to any super store and watch lazy ass employees playing on their phones without a single clue where anything is or what they are selling.

You do not think business losses money?

Many including myself, did not say we lost money, we all said staff are useless and cost money.

    Do try to keep upfacepalm.gif

There is no morality in business that is what lawyers are for. Stop your off topic rantings. Tan started out as an unskilled laborer at 17 before purchasing his first business -- a newstand --and eventually moving into real estate. He lost it all in 1997, then rebuilt his fortune starting with a chain of wedding studios now he has almost a billion. Money are the check marks that measure success in business. Bad businessmen go out of business good businessmen get rich.

There are successful people in Thailand and lots of them that know how to work with Thai employees. You don't. If the Thai employees were that bad there would be high unemployment instead Thailand has low unemployment and labor shortages. Try and stay on topicgiggle.gif

    My off topic ranting?

Let me get this right, you start to troll that some people are super rich and that somehow translated into everyone else loosing money, to then translated them being able to manage staff?

    But i am off topic.

How about you pull your head out of that place where sun does not shine, stop trolling and try to at least understand.

Success has little to do with managing Thai staff, i am certain even an idiot can comprehend that by now.

These people could be 3 times richer if they had reliable staff. or 100 times poorer if they were not related to some general or senior government official,

  11. I got a friend he is the sixth of 11 children of a poor street vendor who migrated to Bangkok from southern China. He left school early, at the age of nine, to work. He never seemed to have a problem with Thai workers.

Another guy I know started with a 2,000 dollar loan and a bunch of Thai employees.

Then there is this fellow; Malaysian-born Tan started out as an unskilled laborer at 17 before purchasing his first business -- a newstand --and eventually moving into real estate. He lost it all in 1997, then rebuilt his fortune starting with a chain of wedding studios.

    You might know their names.....

Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi Net worth US Dollars 12.2 billion.

Bill heinike Net worth US Dollars 1.1 Billion

Tan Passakornnatee: Mr Oishi Net worth US Dollars 640 million

I guess some people know how to handle Thai employes and some don't.

    When you're hot you're hot.

LOL, you actually think your "friends" made money the "clean" way?giggle.gif

LOL. So? What does that have to do with anything? giggle.gif

If you wanted clean why on earth did you come to Thailand?cheesy.gif

Three self made men. From nothing to mega rich in Thailand. There is a lesson there for those wise enough to learn it. The three men above did not wine and moan they worked. They failed and fell down and got back up again dusted themselves off and went on. wai2.gif

Perfect example of someone not having a clue.

Were you under illusion rich men else where make billions by running clean business?

No one makes that kind of money the "clean" way.

Self made is what you think, it is far from truth. That is not to say there are no business people who do run good businesses.

Why do not you read up for example how CP operates and makes money, before spouting nonsensethumbsup.gif

Thaksin also went from nothing to mega rich, i am sure it was clean all the wayw00t.gif

  13. Money Number ONE!!!!

If the old man had plenty of money they would never let him go...........So much for family values THAILAND.crying.gif.pagespeed.ce.kh9vLpJQkUs49400angry.gif.pagespeed.ce.l3zkt7JShRzHMKd9L

Not typical here and far worse in the west.

"Granny dumping, as it's called, was unheard of 15 years ago but now the anecdotal evidence tells us it has become somewhat of a trend," said John Meyers, a spokesman for the American Association of Retired Persons, which has 33 million members. "Not a day goes by when a hospital emergency room somewhere in America doesn't have a case where some elderly person has been abandoned, usually by the children."

Although precise numbers are not available, the American College of Emergency Physicians surveyed hospitals and concluded that up to 70,000 elderly parents were abandoned last year by family members who were unable or unwilling to care for them any longer.

Your not allowed to post facts pertaining to the west, ThaiVisa is for slagging off Thailand and Thai people at every opportunity whilst forgetting this goes on all the time in other countries too.

The problem is that in most Western countries there are some social programs and some welfare system.

For example in Australia, putting aside the pension and discounts on pretty much everything for the elders, there are a number of homes, including state owned, private organizations, and charities which all come to help one way or another, churches that provide food and bed and so on.

When my mother was sick(and did not tell me for at least 1 year) without me knowing, she had some animal welfare group come on daily basis to take her dogs for a walk. Another welfare group sent someone over on daily basis to clean and cook for her, including shopping, another one arranged for car to take her to the doctors and doctor also made home visit once per week, while nurses did daily visits to make injections. All of that was 100% FREE, because she was an elder lady.

Once i knew and went back home, support services did not stop

In Thailand, i did not even know such homes existed, right up till now reading this OP

  14. You can easily add a Zero to the numbers; we're closing down our operations and shall never ever do any business here in Thailand again which requires labour. Possibly the most overpriced arrogant ignorant labour force I ever came across. Hardly anybody resigns normally but just walks off the job and if they don't steal something worth six digits it is obsolete to file anything with the authorities.

The chicken come home to roost; lets see how the Thais are in, say 10 or 15 years. Yet, as mentioned, not they are to blame but the system is a total failure. Some 30 years ago, when I came first, I was talking to the parents of today's employees. They knew likewise little to nothing but were willing to listen and to learn. Over a generation that went down the toilet again. Pathetic!

    I am with you there.

After 10 years, i can not handle it anymore, honestly.

I am looking to sell all and not sure if i ever want to do any business here.

I have been short staffed for at least 4 years, and every new staff is as bad as the previous one.

Theft is beyond annoying, when police refuse to take any action, yet labor department expect you to pay them full wage.
