  1. Sorry to say that is high on the gross level. I bet i know where he met his darling. Don,t be shocked when her Thai boyfriend suddenly arrives at your door.

    I believe the story.

I have met just so many wacko falang over the past 30 years in Thailand. Some are so unstable that it is more than likely that they are going tap themselves, given the right amount of emotional push. The writing mostly is already on the wall. And Thai women are more than capable of pushing unstable guys over the edge.

However 40 year old guys who take on 20 year old "girls" need their heads read. And they are only girls, kids even. Look at the amount of fluffy toys that they always have in their bedrooms, or dangling from their handbags. You very rarely can get a decent conversation out of a 20 yo Thai bird, even when she speaks reasonable English, or goes to Uni. (many of the very young girls in Soi Cowboy are Uni students getting by). The generation and cultural gaps are just far too wide. Most falang only having them hanging around as trophy gf's.

Boy am I lucky then turning 77 this year and my g/f turns 26. Her brain is mature for her age. Been together 4 yrs. still going strong. I still better check under the pillow in case she has a gun there. Ah heck I am getting paranoid.

Elgordo, you must be so proud of yourself. Your kids would be so chuffed too. You 77 and her 26. That is just so wrong on all counts. She is probably younger than your grand kids. bah.gif

  2. I think you hit a nerve. How you seen how some of these pigs/losers treat Thai women ?

    <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

yeah as if,more like he was pissed of with her attitude, told her to pack her bags and go,she saw the ATM was closing so decided to close her account permenantly

...or she was pissed off with him screwing anything with a pussy & a pulse whilst being in a "relationship" with her.

Thailand is the best and the hardest place in the world to be in a faithful relationship.

However, I might be wrong on that, but I have heard a thousand one-sided sob-stories whilst living in this beautiful country! (Almost all of them from farang men).

I assume it was the male version of the thousand one-sided sob-stories that you heard. (Ooops, just saw most of them were from farang men!)

Never had a problem with relationships in this country (apart from the normal little mutterings that come from 16 years of marriage), so now at least you have heard at least one from the positive side......................wink.png

Bit strange that you might believe that the girl might be pissed off if he was screwing anything with a pulse, as I'm sure that idea would not have been mentioned too much in the other one thousand one-sided sob-stories you have listened to........................rolleyes.gif

  3. how hard is it to read up on the customs of a country you plan to visit ? I was also speaking of the foreigners that have lived here for years that don,t get it." Holier than thou " No Smarter than thou YES.

No they have finally reached their limit with us and i can,t blame them. Sister sounds like someone i would want to avoid being around while in Thailand.

my older sister came in the 70's when it first opened up

she had a friend film her standing on a bhudda statue in a singlet top and shorts, obviously horribly insensitive bah.gif

    no thais made a fuss

these days, with all the unrest its always easy to blame/take it out on foreigners

Oh dear.......another example of a farang with a "holier-than-thou" attitude who is in touch with his "Thainess".

You have probably spent years in Thailand and expect people new to the country to have the same awareness and knowledge as you.

    Bit unrealistic, eh?

  5. Does not matter how smart you are if you have no common sense which is serious lacking with many foreigners. The so called dumb Thai bar girl wins every time. Thai Bar girl. Score 1,000.000.000 Foreigner with no common sense. 0

Why on earth do well-educated men ruin their lives over scamming bar girls?

Speculating perhaps but the odds are this is the fact

    "well educated"???

Agreed, where in the article does it indicate that this guy was well-educated!?

aren't all Germans well educated compared to a Thai Isarn girl who left rural school at 14.

  6. From all the years that i have lived here there is no doubt in my mind the tourists and expats are the cause of most of the problems. It seems the foreigners are just getting more and more obnoxious and disrespectful every year. I don,t even deal with most foreigners and all my foreign friends which are few here feel the same. I learned long ago to get as far away from the tourist slums or anywhere listed in Lonely Planet . The foreigners i strongly believe after witnessing their behavior are their own worst enemies . Zero common sense, expats tend to make no effort to learn Thai, most make no effort learning about Thai culture, and many i have seen are non stop drunk. This common behavior is both men and women of all age groups. As long as the government keeps pushing for more and more foreigners the situation is likely only going to get worse. Mass tourism has destroyed this country. Stop bitching about how bad the Thais are. No Thai is holding a gun to your head and there is always NO!. Like i said i just avoid the foreigners as much as possible. Guess what ? Next to zero problems with the Thais. I repeat as i have said a thousand times. This is THEIR country and YOU are a guest here. Can,t deal with that fact and obey the rules and behave yourself than leave.

  7. So sad seeing so many foreigners settle here both men and women that make no effort to speak or understand Thai in any way. They bitch and moan how horrible it is here, how expensive everything is, how lonely they are, how the Thais are constantly ripping them off, walking around with a constant scowl, treat the Thais like crap. And make zero effort learning about anything that goes on around them. The men have bar girls to translate for them and wonder why shortly after they are penniless. If you not willing to learn the language you really have no one to blame but yourself and your best option is to go back where you came from. Stop blaming the Thais for all your problems the problem is YOU.

  8. Good point. Since it seems most foreigners that live here understand a few words. Beer and more beer. Without Miss bar girl they are totally helpless.

Forget the book! Attending a Thai language course is the BEST you can do. Even just a 20 or 40 hrs course helps you a lot. Otherwise the Thais will treat us Farangs like a kwai (buffalo) because we need their help for every little thing we do, even just to order our food. What a shame!

  9. You and me both. They are everywhere and Pattaya ,Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai tend to be their main hangouts.

When one arrives at the airport in Thailand, the immigration pulls your data up on a computer.... are they not checking to make certain, there's no interpol data? It has always amazed me, how many criminals slide into the country.

  10. Your joking right ? A bar girl for a girlfriend or wife ? Shows some high quality. Would you marry or date a hooker back home ?

Another dead foreign alcoholic found dead in a hotel room. Happens every day in Thailand. More foreign alcoholics per square mile than anywhere on Earth.

As I have said many times to mates who have no death wish, why do so many ferlung over here top themselves. Is it that they have been sending money to their one and only ,only to find their one might have more than one. Go to the next bar along the way , find your true love.

  11. Agree to a point. Most DO NOT have any creativity , ambition or vision that move here. They tend to have two things on their minds. Having said that you need a good hobby to stay here for any length of time. I have ambition , creativity and vision. done just fine after all these years.

Sounds like you are making an emotional decision, which usually brings tragic results. Now is not the best time to live in Thailand. Also it is not for those who have ambition, creativity or vision. Everywhere outside of Thailand is. Chinese or Bahasa Indonesia is far more useful languages and bring opportunity.

Learning Thai is a distant third. But if you love the place than spending two hours a day learning is nothing. You should want to spend three times that amount of time unless you have no ambition, no creativity or no vision.

  12. I can only say that when I came to Thailand, there were no, signs. I was trained to speak and not to read. but after awhile you need the reading. Wow. 1972 there were signs in Thai on the highways. It helps you, if you are going the wrong.way. As far as I am concerned, if you plan to live in Thailand, it is your responsibility to learn a little Thai. "I am too old. bullshit!" It is called lazy. You want to be a lazy ass? Be one. It does not take much effort to learn a little Thai.

You don,t happen to live in Chon Daen do you ? The idiot drunk foreigner i was speaking of was visiting Chon Daen with his bar girl covered in gold. Another i met said. " I am too old to learn Thai. Her job is to speak English" My hunch is another two years his bank account will be dry and he will no long have someone to translate nor be his sex slave. Then they bitch and moan how all the Thais took their money. if you can,t speak even some basic Thai you really should not be here. i can see already the Pattaya Flying Club will soon have two new members. Going down ! Enjoy your last free fall.

  13. Lonely Planet is by far the worst. What a joke. Had some tourists trying to speak Thai to me out of that God awful book. As i often suggest take that book and burn it. Always can tell a newbie doing the LP spin as they are trying to read one of the maps to their over priced and crappy guesthouse.

To start with, don't do Pimsleur for Thai. It is full of mistakes. Blatant ones. I'm serious. It won't just waste your time, it will set you back!

The books, CDs, and software of Paiboon publishing are to be recommended.

For me, I found it much easier to learn to read than to speak and comprehend. The words sit there on the page and I can take all the time I want to work it out. Knowing the writing system will also clarify and lot of distinctions of words that sound the same (to us) but are actually quite different. For example, there are something like 32 different words, with very different meanings, that could all be romanized as 'sai'.

  14. Yes. there is no reason why you could not learn to improve speaking alone.

    Hi

I respect all what you say.. but I don't feel like learning to write and read.. I just want to be able to communicate with people and speaking 4/5 languages I pick up quite easily the accent..

I am looking for a teacher who would help me out going on learning phonetic thai in Pattaya (I completed the book "assimil" and a second book doesn't exist).. In case I saw someone talking about an english method.. Is it available in Thailand and does it have several steps which could still improve my current level ?

    Thanks

    Best regards
