69 days until Christmas. Feelin festive yet?
Moonlover replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
My Buddhist wife makes more of a fuss about Christmas than I do. I keep trying to tell her that there's no need for her arrange anything on my behalf. She knows full well that I'm a none believer, but as always, she takes no notice. You know what Thais are like, any excuse for a party, even if its some one else's excuse! -
Workers evacuated from Israel worried about their outstanding debts
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So what's their problem? Thai evacuees can return to work in Israel, no re-entry visa required I'm somewhat unsympathetic here. They get offered good salaries to go work there on the understanding that there's an element of risk. If they were not aware of that at the time they really did have their heads in the sand! Many of us on this forum have done the same, including me. I didn't cut and run the first time a SCUD missile went bang in Riyadh. Now did I when there were car bombs going off and western compounds being attacked. It goes with the territory. And I note that something like 25,000 Thais have opted to stay in Israel and tough it out. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. -
Lazada Wallet - Is this only available on the Lazada Android App?
Moonlover replied to connda's topic in General Topics
A good ending for you. I'm glad to read that you've resolved the issue. Spurred on by your good self, I decided to tackle this issue myself. I've long been puzzled by the wallet and how to activate it. So last night I downloaded the app, (yet again) fiddled around for almost an hour until I finally found out a. how to switch it over to English and b. how to register for said wallet. I finally succeeded and noted that I would have to wait around 48 hours for them to complete the registration process. I await with baited breath! BTW, I empathize with you regarding eye sight. I'm long sighted at +7.5 and have astigmatism. I also prefer to use my computer when browsing Lazada. As soon as the wallet becomes active and I've confirmed that it functions I shall bin the app. -
Well done @BE88. You obviously didn't bother to read you own article before typing your misleading title. This article (to which there is no link BTW) is about where the ultra rich own properties. It has nothing to do with where they (might) take their holidays. Of course, one could argue that they don't visit Thailand because, as we all know, foreigners are not allowed to buy property here. Although I'm sure they could find a way round that ruling if they really wanted to, but we mere mortals would never get to here about that.

There's a few cats fertilizing our garden. That's how nature works.

Oh weep, weep, my handkerchief is soaking already. Could you make it a bit sooner please. April seems such a long way away. PS. Did you miss this bit? Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand.

It looks like folks are not reading the full article again. You can learn quite a lot with just one click 'Pornchai Sitthikaset, director of Protected Area Office 4, said that installing electric fences against wild animals is a serious offence, adding that legal action will be taken against the plantation owner'.

Where did you read that? According to Al Jazeera, it is the airlines that are suspending flights, out of an abundance of caution of course. And that will be why 10,000 Israeli tourists have suddenly found themselves stuck in Thailand. (and no doubt in other countries as well) Major international airlines suspend flights to Israel

I’m having bouts of Anxiety – Need advice .
Moonlover replied to Captain Disorderly's topic in Health and Medicine
Let me first say that I did qualify my suggestion with 'if possible'. I do appreciate not everyone has access to nature. I'm fortunate in that regard. I live in the countryside and have plenty of options. Where there's farmland, there has to be access and where the farmers go, so go I. -
Palestinian envoy pledges help for captured Thai workers
Moonlover replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Ah, on further inspection, it will be the Palestinian flag. Ignore my earlier post. He is, primarily the ambassador to Malaysia, so they would be the correct flags if he was interviewed in his office there. -

Some good suggestions here, but I don't agree with the treadmill idea. A daily walk in nature, if possible, is I believe much more beneficial. I walk for at least an hour every day, weather permitting. -
I recall a few years ago someone writing to say that the DWP had told him, by phone, that they could not pay his pension into Wise. At that time that was exactly where my state pension was being paid into! I agree with earlier comments. Don't ask, just give them the account details ask them to 'get on with it,. And another bit of advice. Stop worrying about things that may never happen.

I’m having bouts of Anxiety – Need advice .
Moonlover replied to Captain Disorderly's topic in Health and Medicine
I've tried to get into sitting meditation many times over the years, but it never suited me at all. Like you mentioned, 'the shoe doesn't fit'. Qigong, the method I use now is a moving meditation, so I get exercise, breathing and meditation all in one package. It suits me much better. So much so that I've stuck with it for 10 years or more now. -

Have a read of this website. If it ticks a box or two with you and I'm sure it will, get the book. It's defiantly worth a try. https://flowingzen.com/start-here/ -
Over a thousand Thais in Israel want to be flown back to Thailand
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Didn't you read the article? To reach the border with Egypt, they would have to be bused back through the hostile area (the Negev). Not a very smart move. I doubt if the IDF would permit it anyway. They have enough security issues on their hands already. -
As should everyone, always. Great to see that Supornnee recovering well and keeping a positive attitude. One of the great aspects of Thai society is the family support that they always seem to have when it's needed. 'She thanked her family, including her three children, and medical personnel for their moral and physical support, which gave her the strength needed to overcome her ordeal'.

But I do have a UK taxable income, 3 pensions in fact. But the last word that I had from HMRC on this topic was that I don't need to file a return. So they don't get one. I check my tax codes and tax paid every year and it's always correct. I do agree with you though. If they request a return, you should comply.

Shame on them. There's too many over the top hygiene rules around nowadays. I last enjoyed this wonderful dining experience in Kerala. The real authentic stuff.
