  1. I don't think dentist did go ahead with the extraction. He was obviously well aware of the risk involved if he had. Why on earth would he proceed? Dentists have to swear the same Hippocratic oath as doctors do.
  2. Almost certainly not and reason is right there in the description, Travel Insurance. These policies cover periods of varying lengths of travel which commence and end in the UK. You would not qualify.
  3. The driver driver did NOT admit it was his fault. He admitted to consuming “a small amount of alcohol” prior to the incident.
  4. I'm basing my judgement on observation. Most vehicles that pass me when I'm riding or driving at the posted speed limit are pick ups. How would I know whether it applies to you? Regarding weight, 1550 Kg is not exactly light is it.
  5. I like the idea, but I don't see it coming to a temple near me in the near future.
  6. No it doesn't, it indicates he was going fast. That should be no surprise, it's standard behaviour for pick up drivers as we all know. A stopping distance of 100m would not be unusual for a heavy vehicle travelling in access of 100kph
  7. As I've already said I do not condone drunk driving any more than you two, but in article: 'The driver admitted to consuming “a small amount of alcohol” prior to the incident'. Nowhere in the article is there any suggestion that he was actually drunk. So I'm withholding judgement in that regard, although I do acknowledge that even a small amount of alcohol can affect ones judgement.
  8. Obviously I do not condone drunk driving. It is totally irresponsible. But this accident occurred in the right hand lane and involved 'two women who were crossing the road on a motorbike'. It seems clear the rider was not being very vigilant. Keeping a good lookout is paramount when riding a motorcycle not just here, but in any country. It's your survival that's on the line.
  9. You could pop along to Lazada and buy one of the many Bee Smokers that are available. There's plenty of instruction sites on the web to advice you how to use them. As I understand it, once you've smoked them for a while , they become calm and soporific for a while. Bit like smoking a dong I guess. ????
  10. Whenever I send letters to the UK, Thai Post are always conservative with their estimates. Probably so that they can't be accused 'under estimating' the time it takes. The 3 to 4 weeks that they quote has always turned out to 8 to 10 days, So don't be too concerned about the time factor with Thai Post unless your items really are time critical. You will pay a lot more if that's the case. You don't get cheap and fast. They are mutually exclusive.
  11. Plenty of drivers manage to go bumping into things whilst on the phone.!
  12. I wasn't using a stopwatch at the time, (for obvious reasons) but quite obviously you cannot bring such a weighty mass to a halt instantly. But the power was definitely switched off instantly. Can I get back to my Sudoku now please?
  13. I once hit the emergency stop button on a vey crowded down elevator in London after a lady had fallen at the bottom in an incident very similar to the one that happened here. The elevator stopped instantly and as best I recall no one fell over. But a more serious incident was almost certainly prevented.
  14. I live in Issan and you couldn't temp me to fly to Pattaya if the fares were zero!
  15. Thanks for your engineering input. This is very informative. As both a former engineer and a curious 'people watcher, I think I can narrow down what really happened to cause this accident. In my 'people watching' mode, I've noted that passengers, when moving around the concourse with 4 wheeled carry on bags, almost invariably have the bag alongside themselves, much in the manner of 'walking the dog'. That is, IMO an important clue. I would posit when this unfortunate lady reached the end of the travelator, her and her bag arrived at the off ramp simultaneously. The front 2 wheels of the bag caught in the comb plates and forced the plate that both the bag and lady where standing on down. Her foot then slipped through the gap that had opened up and we all know the result. As so often , it's a culmination of little incidents that result in these tragic accidents. And as a footnote, those who claim this wasn't an accident need to go off and look up the meaning of the word. This is my final word on this topic now. IMO it's been done to death.
  16. Er, you've got one small fact wrong. I'm not Moon, that's the other half. ????
  17. Read headline, jump to conclusion, type response. A common occurrence on ASEAN NOW.
  18. Yes of course it's predictable, because it's undoubtedly true. It's standard practice.
  19. Or even better, carry it. After all it is 'carry on baggage' that passengers have at this stage of embarkation.
  20. Well done Dr. B. Avery long explanation which will probably bore the pants off most of the sceptics here. However I completely agree with you.
  21. Who said anything about her falling forward? Mr. Dome I am speaking as an engineer for almost all of my career with a strong suit in trouble shooting. Her pink suitcase was lying beside with the wheels broken off. I would hazard that it was the wheels that jammed the travelator and consider this to be the only possible explanation for this accident. Come up with a more plausible explanation if you can. I would welcome your input. P. S. Please read Dr. B's account before replying.
  22. That small object appears to have been the wheel off the lady's own suitcase if the BBC's report has any credibility. which I believe to be so. (see my post at the top of this page) The airport is being is diplomatic here. They are not blaming the passenger, but not accepting responsibility either. But do note they have said that they will fully compensate her. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-66062753
