  1. Sounds like a good plan. I lived in Udon Thani for 3 years and found some great places to visit. I'll run a list up for you later. In the mean time look up UD Car Rent at https://www.ud-carrent.com I've had great service from them in the past. BTW you do not need an IDP.
  2. I wouldn't know and I wouldn't care if I did. We can neither control our dreams nor remember them for any length of time, in my case about 5 minutes.
  3. What I find disturbing is that this guy has been report several times for the same behaviour since 2020, yet he's still out driving taxis!
  4. I always submit my report on the 1st available day, like 2 weeks before the due date. I then have plenty of time to chase it up if I don't hear back from them. My wait has been as long as 4 days and as short as 5 hours, but they've never let me down. I do wonder whether our office in Sakon Nakhon does a batch of report checks maybe once or twice a week resulting in the spread of results. Some people, in the past have quibbled about doing the report early saying they loose out on a number of days. Wow, it takes 5 minutes. What's the issue?
  5. 44.7 is the mean rate. That's the exchange rate that Wise always use in their transactions.
  6. Acer Aspire and have be for been for almost 20 years. I'm on my 3rd one now, bought here with Windows 11 installed. I began to have problems with the previous one, mainly overheating and shutting down. My new one. with SSD runs quickly smoothly and very quietly. It's a joy to use. It even has an illuminated keyboard.
  7. Lovely story. It just lends weight to the old adage: If you don't ask, you don't get'. Well done.
  8. Thanks for clarifying that. I was getting a little confused by all these conflicting posts. I'll have my passport to hand next time around, just in case. ????
  9. An interesting tale. I think all this worrying that they display is down to the fact that they simply do not like taking responsibly and will look for any excuse to 'slope shoulder'. Glad to read you resolved the problem and was able to laugh it off. I think I'm able to get anyone in the village to sign mine for me now and I'll just call them 'Village Mayor', whether they are or not! I always put the address of the local government offices, as it appears on Goggle Maps. That seems to keep them happy.
  10. There is no logic to that whatsoever. A full bladder is still a full bladder, no matter what medication one might have taken.
  11. A completely medication free solution that I've proved will work every time. It takes a bit of practice at first, for some folks, but it's well worth persisting with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5dE25ANU0k
  12. Yes you're right there. I lived in China for a year and the noisiest place in the world outside Cape Canaveral during a launch has to be a Chinese restaurant in the evening. I've never any other race who can eat, drink, shout and smoke all at the same time.
  13. Have a read of THIS website. It's not recent, but it's still applicable.
  14. The easiest way to contact the IPC is via this web site. https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/ipc/personal-details
  15. Actually I find difficult to see what anyone is doing inside their vehicle, given the prevalence of very dark tinting.
  16. That's my route as well. I actually write Phu Yu Ban (Village Mayor) on the form. No problem.
  17. I suspect that the embassy do not report the death of a British subject to pension providers and I do wonder whether they are mandated to do so, after all there are a lot of providers out there. I'm basing this on the small number stories I've heard were the pension has continued to be paid for quite some after death. You're unlikely to here of them on this forum of course for the obvious reason that the recipient has died! The DWP have in fact stated that they loose as much as 45 million pounds over 2 years and have proposed sending life certificates out every 2 years. https://www.expatriatehealthcare.com/expat-pensioners-to-require-life-certificates-from-next-year/
  18. If the British embassy inform the 'relevant departments' in the UK of someone's death, there sould be no need for life certificates. So I suspect that there's a flaw in your logic.
  19. I've been receiving life certificates since I was around 45. I started to draw my military pension when I left at 40 years of age having served 22 years. 2 years later I went to work overseas and have been doing so for much of the time since then. It ain't how old you are that counts, it's where you are.
  20. Not if you're related to yourself. ????
  21. Good to hear that it was sorted quickly and efficiently for you. ????There have been similar reports of good service from them in the past.
  22. Try a doctor in one of the many small clinics that are around, a pharmacist, especially if you happen to frequent one regularly, or a friend as previously suggested. The DWP offer you many choices and they're not actually too fussy about whom you choose. I use our village Phu Yu Ban. The bank's advice is wrong in one respect. The British embassy will not sign life certificates. That should, at least save you one wasted journey. The argument about whether the form should be stamped or not is bound to crop up. Although there is a space for a stamp is not mandated in the letter that you received and folks have had then accepted without one.
  23. Consider this. How many people are likely to make the type of enquiry you are talking about? Not a lot I would imagine. Creating data bases and search engines costs money, lots of it. I wouldn't think there's much profit in someone asking 'what's the cheapest ticket to anywhere'.
