  1. An important note for you @Siddharta. When you return to Thailand, make sure that you open up your passport and point out your reentry stamp to the IO. That will ensure that you get the right date stamped on the entry permit. They have been known make mistakes.
  2. Well actually, I am not a Barclays, so I have no vested interest, but I did read their FAQs out of interest and they do seem to be somewhat ambiguous. My own bankers, Nationwide BS however are quite clear on this matter. They are quite happy for me to register an overseas address as I have done for the last 20 years without any issues.
  3. No problem. You have your multi entry, which allows you to leave and return as often as you wish without any further action Don't worry about the 90 day report either. That will stop when you leave and start afresh from day 1 when you reenter. Have a good trip.
  4. Life (as we know it) wouldn't BE without them. ????
  5. I think that the front end damage says otherwise!
  6. Maybe you should have a look a her profile here before commenting. @isaanistical Some kid reporter!
  7. It does not matter how many 'plonkers' ignore those pathetically shorts barriers. Solid full width barriers would stop them all. End of problem. Again I say, 'apathy is no excuse'.
  8. When there are a lot of 'plonkers' on the roads it's best to make provision for that, not just leave matters to fate. As mentioned in the post there have been many accidents here in the past. Apathy is no excuse.
  9. Well that's the front offside wheel, but yes, that's almost certainly the transmission, or what's left of it.
  10. * Misquoted post removed * There certainly is a barrier on the far side, but calling either of them a 'barrier' is a bit of a misnomer. It's high time 'proper' barriers are installed on this obviously dangerous crossing.
  11. It's easy to blame 'falling asleep' when it cannot ever be proved. Accidents usually have more than one cause, This Rama 2 is obviously a fast highway, and yet we have a fully laden motorcycle/sidecar pottering at what cannot have been more than 40 to 50kph. Did it have any rear lighting or bright reflecting surfaces? Where the riders wearing bright clothing? A following vehicle, travelling at high speed, as this Fortuner clearly was could easily have failed to see it in time. I wonder how thoroughly these accidents are really investigated.
  12. Sounds to me like they were glad to be shot of you.
  13. Ah, so it's an assumption, not a verified fact. Thank you for your honest answer.
  14. How do you know they are culling all non-resident accounts, did they tell you that?
  15. Two factor authorization is already built in to banking apps. That's why they are regarded as more secure than computer based on line services. If I do a transfer on line, I have to await the OTP via an SMS, but not when I do it using the app.
  16. The restrictions on Joint accounts came in quite some time ago. Our joint account with Krungsri became virtually useless because of the very limited on line services that were available. I think that it's no coincidence that these restrictions came into force toward the beginning for the Covid pandemic, when people were being locked out of the country for long periods. Husband in one country and wife in another. You get my drift? We binned ours altogether and I arranged that my wife can access my account in emergency.
  17. Such rulings usually emanate from on high i.e. BOT. I believe Krungsri have the same restriction.
  18. They don't steal the wood, they forage for it as they have done for many generations. And the air quality up in the north east is just fine thank you.
  19. If it bothers you so much why don't you offer to buy one for him?
  20. I wonder how many people would have the good heart to say this: “I was heartbroken and couldn’t bring myself to speak or even think about my wife and her lover. I let the two of them go in peace, hoping they will find happiness together. Then I made up my mind to return to my hometown with my dogs” I hope he can find his own peace.
  21. Fair enough. Someone has to don't they.
  22. Well let me add this one sentence from the O/P 'In response to Thailand’s repeated requests for technology transfer and teaching on China’s high-speed rail technology at joint committee meetings', Now, if Thailand knew it all already, they wouldn't need to make this request (repeatedly) would they. I don't think any further comment is necessary.
  23. I've visited quite a number of temples in my time here and I haven't encountered that situation once. In fact I've never encountered it at all. I find almost all dogs here to be quite placid.
  24. Well I have to agree with you on one point. Chiang Mai is a far more agreeable place to visit than Bangkok! I can't stand that city. However the next time my passport comes up for renewal I'll be 80! Travelling to either city from my home here in Sakon Nakhon will, I suspect be a daunting prospect , so an agent it will have to be.
