Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So I should spend 2 million baht on an Elite Visa, and if I stay in the country all the time and never leave I still must do 90 day reports and annualy pay 1900 baht to extend my stay...vs. paying 100k for 20 years, 50k every 10 years, never having to extend every year or do 90 day reports...hmmm i know which ones the no brainer as in life everyone needs health insurance..... -

CODING ERA: Next Wave of Thailand’s Education

Of course, it is why one does research and then moves to an area, like I did in the US because they had the top rated schools. My ex was a school teacher. My 3 US children had 4 3, 4.4, and 4 5 GPA's and graduated college magna and Sima cum laude from OSU and UofO in Oregon. My Half Thai/American daughter is in the 19th grade now Wirth a 4.0 gpa -

CODING ERA: Next Wave of Thailand’s Education
ThailandRyan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Let's see, can we say Thailands behind the times. My kids learned computer programming and coding in high-school starting 15 years ago, each one slso built their own gaming computer and my oldest built her own DVD player....my half Thai American daughter who is now in High School took coding classes last semester and is currently taking pre-calculus as a 10th grader. Starting next year she will be taking AP Chemistry, AP Physics and AP world history...... Had she returned with me she would be way behind where she is now. Schools here are a joke unless your kids are in an international school, where my 9 year old step-daughter will start the new school year at in BKK. -

And as I said earlier TIT and they have been doing it for years. So people need to keep their underwear from getting bunched up and accept it..... -
Ao Manao and Sam Roi Yot are good swim areas if the surf is cooperating. But yes 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes south of HH.

The beauty of using an agent.

Even with an appointment at DMV its a pure pain in the rear, where here with an appointment at CW it was low stress and fairly quick. Glad I can still renew my California Driver License by using the DMV website. Just did it last December and the license mailed to my address in the US, and then forwarded to here where it arrived less than 6 weeks after I did the on-line renewal......so the DMV in California does make it easy... -
So he is registered both here at the local Amphur where he married and in his home country. That's the way mine was, and because at the time I was in the US prior to returning here I had an attorney file it there. He might want to look at seeing if he can file a divorce in his home country without being there.

You can see if they will ship it, but the main company is in BKK, and I know this government makes it hard for deliveries of alcohol now. I like the Taylor Red, Taylors fine Tawny Port. They do have a spot in Pattaya https://iwsthailand.com/product-650781-taylor-red-taylors-fine-tawny-port.html

Swedish Man Arrested on Samui Island for 75 Days of Overstaying

Since when is this not news here in Thailand? The issue of overstaying and being arrested has been splashed all over the place....are you just oblivious, or its not the type of news you want to see. If it is the later then avoid these types of OP's if it hurts to see it or if it offends you. TIT. -

You do realize your in Thailand and not in your home country. This is standard here, at least there is no finger pointing going on in the picture. -
Easy to file, at least in the US, using an attorney. My now ex Thai wife and I never saw each other after she ran off with another foreigner in the US. All the signatures were done by Docusign and by e-mail. Of course it was uncontested by her. The Divorce decree once signed by the judge was mailed to her and myself by my attorney. Hers sent to the US address where she is living with her now husband and my attorney who shipped them to me here as I had moved here just after the divorce process was started in California. The issue was getting the Amphur here in Udon Thani, where we married back in the day, to accept the US divorce paperwork and then divorce us in Thailand. I could have just skipped that except one day I want to remarry here and that cant be done if the system shows i am still married. Of course she also wants to register her new marriage here as well. That process was started in 2019 and took another almost 2 years, but I used a language school who also did translations and had them processed through MFA and notarized at the US embassy, which the Amohur then accepted and with her father, who had her original marriage cert, at the Amphur with me, and with her on a video call, the Amphur proceeded with it and I have that copy as well. Depends on how he wants his divorce completed and if he is from a country that would allow a solicitor/lawyer to then complete the paperwork. If he never lived with her outside of Thailand then he will have to do just a Thai Divorce. Good luck

Brings to mind a Paul Simon song: Your friend could do the same as the songs indicates, well to some degree "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" "The problem is all inside your head" She said to me "The answer is easy if you Take it logically I'd like to help you in your struggle To be free There must be fifty ways To leave your lover" She said, "It's really not my habit to intrude Furthermore, I hope my meaning Won't be lost or misconstrued But I'll repeat myself At the risk of being crude There must be fifty ways To leave your lover Fifty ways to leave your lover" You just slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just get yourself free Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free Ooh, slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just listen to me Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free She said, "It grieves me so To see you in such pain I wish there was something I could do To make you smile again" I said, "I appreciate that And would you please explain About the fifty ways?" She said, "Why don't we both Just sleep on it tonight And I believe in the morning You'll begin to see the light" And then she kissed me And I realized she probably was right There must be fifty ways To leave your lover Fifty ways to leave your lover You just slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just get yourself free Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free Slip out the back, Jack Make a new plan, Stan You don't need to be coy, Roy Just listen to me Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free

Board of Trade expects US bank collapses to impact Thai exports
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just two days ago they said Thailand had no exposure....hmmm, what else have they been hiding from the good people. I guess as usual Thailands PR folks from the BOT and TAT as well as the Cabinet don't look at the whole picture first before coming up with a response. Never fire off the cuff, I still find out the hard way when I do...especially when posting.... Also 2 years before the FTA with the EU is done seems a long way off and must includes mountains of paperwork to review..... -
Will Thailand’s Long Term Resident Visa work for you?
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Your right the interest has definitely been minimal because they set the bar too high for the other 4 types of Visas in this LTR class, in my view. They wanted foreign workers, such as digital nomads and people who could work anywhere around the world for there companies to come here, and unfortunately they created a visa which can only be obtained by someone whose company is very profitable. The onus for those individuals is they have to supply the BOI with paperwork showing the companies Financials, which to me is way to onerous. Whike some have succeeded with this Work from Thailand LTR class, others have not because the company does not meet the requirements laid out. To me its about the taxes needed to be paid to Thailand. The Visa class I have now is only 1 of 5 of the LTR visa types you can obtain. To me it was a no-brainer as I could qualify based upon pension alone, but the reality is they are seeking wealthy people and not the middle rung. I am not wealthy by any means and in the US I would be just in the middle to upper middle class, but by Thai standards I am wealthy. It is why I moved here to retire. 15 years ago the cost of living here made my money go three to four times further than it would in the US unless I tried to live a western lifestyle here, which I do not. Now not so much. However, here I can save money where in the US I could save very little and needed to use my savings to help live along with my pension. Here my savings are growing as my pension covers everything including putting money into savings. Not yet at the age where I will have to take the mandatory annual withdrawals from my 401 plans. How I wish I truly was wealthy.....
