Thai Authorities to Promote More Traditional Songkran
ThailandRyan replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Has not been any real party Songkran since 2019, so the country should already be conditioned to the traditional value Songkran celebrations, which is about family. -
How long has she got is why the husband started doing his business over here it appears. But as another poster on here has alluded to, it ain't cheap to get a divorce in the UK and he seems to be hedging his bets for now that she won't file for divorce and is why he is visiting and possibly building a flush bank account....but then I could be totally wrong.

So no water throwing will be allowed as it is not the old ways and what Songkran is all about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songkran -

Russian mafia-style ‘gangs’ causing concerns for Phuket businesses
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Russians are not scared of anything except maybe being put down on their knees with a gun to the back of the head, but then that occurs where they cam from, so its a free for all.........when they stand facing you with their hands in their pockets and their feet making a T they are telling you to go flick yourself.... -
Global conditions arrest Thailand’s economic recovery
ThailandRyan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It has been stated by many that believing what Thailand publishes about its economy needs to be taken with a grain of salt instead of believing there inflated numbers. This article is a prime example of how the economy is not doing as well as this government says it is doing. One wonders why the exports and especially the imports, as far as the market shelves of certain foreign items, are bare or the price is way higher than it was. Inflation and a recession are coming. Yet as Prayut has said the economy is doing well. -
Yet Thailand has always insisted Thai tourism was but a small fraction of the GDP. It turns out they are more reliant in tourism then they say.

Ukraine war: Blinken says China may give weapons to Russia
ThailandRyan replied to Scott's topic in World News
Rama 5 gave away Siamese cats to the leaders of the surrounding countries while giving territorial concessions to the British and the French in order to gain railways through the country which could be used for trade as well as to ensure Thailand's Sovereignty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chulalongkorn China did try through the Haw Insurgency to take land from Thailand and it failed Haw insurgency[edit] In the northern Laotian lands bordering China, the insurgents of the Taiping Rebellion had taken refuge since the reign of King Mongkut. These Chinese were called Haw and became bandits, pillaging the villages. In 1875, Chulalongkorn sent troops from Bangkok to crush the Haw who had ravaged as far as Vientiane. However, they met strong Chinese resistance and retreated to Isan in 1885. New, modernized forces were sent again and were divided into two groups approaching the Haw from Chiang Kam and Pichai. The Haw scattered and some fled to Vietnam. The Siamese armies proceeded to eliminate the remaining Haw. The city of Nong Khai maintains memorials for the Siamese dead. -
So an overcross across the rail lines are not needed in places where a town is cut in half by the ral lines and the only way to cross is either over the actual rails where safety is an issue. Also there are very few lights at road crossings and is why there are u-turns where accidents occur daily. What Thailand needs is more traffic lights at these cross intersections and U-Turn locations ergo why the horseshoe bridges over the tracks....Safety from being hit by the soon to come high speed trains.

Its that stupid Rama 2 traffic section with all of the construction. When thats finished it will be great. Headed that way this weekend for the GF's brothers birthday. Then make a run on Tops Club to reload the coffee and Sparkling Italian water, plus maybe a few other items. Was thinking Monday would be the best day to return here to PKK.
