  1. No offence, or at worst a minor breach, committed. Political chicanery clearly involved.
  2. Jibberish indeed. Doesn't make sense. This guy needs to understand that many middle and upper class Thais are very well off indeed. They certainly won't welcome foreigners into their family who are anything other than equally or, better still, more wealthy than they are.
  3. It sounds a bit late to be giving any advice. The guy appears to have spent a lot of money already. Many bar girls are/have been good wives to their foreign husbands, some have not. Hope it works out for them.
  4. Generally speaking I agree. My experience comes mainly from negotiating/ re-negotiating oil and gas production sharing agreements, and oil derivatives trading agreements. Relatively easy with goodwill on all sides, hard-edged if one party is virtually forced to the negotiating table. In the case of the UK and the EU the UK is in a bind due to the appalling ineptitude of it's negotiators, and successive Tory governments.
  5. Nothing 'touchy-feely', as you put it, about agreements of all kinds being amended, all over the world. Happens all the time. Been involved in many myself. Statement of fact.
  6. Any agreement, of any kind whatsoever, can be amended if goodwill exists between the participants.
  7. I cannot make recommendations regarding specific locations, service providers etc. but, generally, the elderly are respected and well cared for in Thailand, far better I would say than in many of our home countries. I think you will be making the right move in bringing your mother here. All the very best to you both.
  8. Oh dear ! Life in Thailand must be a constant challenge for you. My advice, for what it is worth, is take care of your money generally but don't get over-exercised by issues involving small change.
  9. What is the point of a posting that does nothing more than state the obvious ? Could apply to women on the game anywhere in the world.
  10. Message to the RTP-stop grubbing about on this kind of thing, stop focussing on minor offences committed by the poor, and go after the big time criminals. Will never happen, of course.
  11. Why on earth would you want to get rid of them ? Please do not harm them. They are an asset. They will help you to keep down rodents and other pests.
  12. Just do what immigration have asked you to do, in person if possible.
  13. You appear to know him very well.
  14. Thai cigarette monopoly hard at work protecting its' interests.
  15. If you hit a vehicle in front of you, you were either going too fast or not looking, or both.
  16. Don't threaten people here with legal action, or any other action for that matter. It only causes trouble. Once you delegate your extensions etc to an agent they can really mess you up if they choose to.
  17. Always best to go in person if possible.
  18. No surprise whatsoever. There was no way the Taiwanese had anything to gain by making this up. Be interesting to see what happens next....
  19. Another IMF 'forecast'. It's only January 2023. Wait and see how things look by the end of December.
  20. Bar girls in Thailand come in all shapes, sizes and characters. Some are doing the job because they like it, others because they can't find any other way to make money. Some are honest, some not. I have two friends from the UK who married Thai girls from pretty low dives but both have remained happily together for over 30 years. Another, though, was cheated rotten by a girl from a similar background. Main message- take your time, watch your money, and don't commit to anything until you have fully tested the integrity of a potential partner or long term girlfriend.
  21. Hardly worth the bother. Find something else to worry about.
  22. No sympathy. He cheated on his Thai partner in Holland, and then he himself was, apparently, cheated on by another Thai woman in Thailand. Bit short on brain power by the sound of it.
