  1. The BRN insurgency is ongoing and very dangerous. About time the Thai army go in really hard. Problem is, they won't. They'll just try to limit bad news to a minimum, and do very little.
  2. Reading the report in the Bangkok Post on the new bill indicates that, in spite of a lot of verbage, restrictions on the growth, sale and use of weed will not be onerous.
  3. Chadchart is going to help deal with the 'climate crisis' according to this article. Perhaps he could consider first dealing with traffic congestion, garbage disposal, klong pollution, overhead cable entanglement, and fire and safety measures generally. That's just for starters.
  4. The govt try to avoid any attention being given to what is a very serious situation in the south.
  5. What about tourists smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and visiting go-go bars and massage parlours ? Are they also to be 'discouraged' ?
  6. First visited Thailand in 1960, worked here from 1983 to 1987, retired here in 1993. In over 60 years and countless inward journeys arriving at various entry points, including Swampy of course, this has never ever happened.
  7. A case of 'last orders'. RIP.
  8. As I already said, I renewed my UK passport here through VFS and no embassy letter required by CW to make transfers. (Sorry, I forgot that VFS supplied embassy letter. My mistake).
  9. I think the word 'not' is missing in this report.
  10. Don't know about the precise numbers, but Bangkok has surely been a top tourist destination for many years.
  11. Years ago I had a part interest in the old Alleycat bar at the Silom end of Patpong 2. We met all the legal health and safety requirements, and never had any problems with the RTP.
  12. Oh dear. Lighten up for heaven's sake. Whatever his motives I reckon Anutin has made a good move on this issue.
  13. 6 months ago I received a new UK passport having applied in Thailand. CW transferred all relevant details from my old passport with no questions asked, including no request for an embassy letter. This was all done in Thailand so maybe not helpful in your case however, for what it is worth, CW seemed pretty relaxed about this procedure.
  14. That's a rather feeble example to say the least. This group are funded, and encouraged, out of the middle east via a neighbouring country.
  15. I reckon most of us knew this was never going to happen.
  16. Yes, why indeed ? Tell us precisely what is 'disgusting'.
  17. Surprise, surprise. This what was forecast. Ho hum...
  18. My Thai wife is 66, I'm 80. Married for 32 years of the 40 years we have been together. Couldn't be happier. Not sure what the author of this article is trying to say.
  19. However, over 70 million people did vote for Trump.
  20. Yes indeed. You could have saved your breath, but thank you anyway. I repeat that many people in the UK believe that Biden is an IRA supporter, unlike Trump.
  21. .....but he doesn't object to cigarette smoke apparently.
  22. I thought it was good news when Chadchart was elected. Now I'm not so sure.
  23. Wrong. They think Biden is an IRA supporter.
