  1. A good move by the USA. There are risks, of course, but they are outweighed by the potential reward of preventing the current Iranian regime from arming itself with nuclear weaponry.
  2. Me likewise. Now 83 years old, retired to Thailand in 1993. So far, so good.
  3. Almost impossible now to avoid the effects of mass tourism, anywhere. In the 1970s/1980s my Thai wife and I used to visit many of what were then beautiful and restful places in Thailand. Koh Samui, for example, was a paradise. No roads, and accomodation was a rented hammock on the beach, cost 10 baht, meals shared with local people. Happy days...
  4. The RTP will mount strong opposition to this idea for obvious reasons.
  5. It's not a scam, it's an up front request for money. Not that unusual. If your drinking friend doesn't want to pay tell him to just walk away.
  6. Understood. You indeed did not say or imply anything of the sort.
  7. Sad, but no deal would have meant the complete demise of US steel and the loss of employment for it's workforce.
  8. One thing clearly going well for Obama is that Michelle still looks good in a skirt.
  9. Possible, but unlikely. The Shinawatras favour business with the Chinese rather than with the west. Hopefully the next Thai government will take a more balanced approach, as have most Thai governments historically.
  10. People tend to care less for others who can't be bothered to take care of themselves. I agree you would think somebody would have done something to help this guy, but we don't know the full story. Well done to the driver for standing by.
  11. Good for Pattaya, not good for Japan.
  12. Not a good idea to be lying down drunk and unconscious on the street, especially after dark.
  13. Number one rule in Thailand, share your profits.
  14. Fair comment. I would only say that although Thailand appears disorganized it does work in it's own offbeat way, not without charm.
  15. There must be more to this tragic story. The parents have some questions to answer, to put it mildly. RIP young man. Just hoping you are now in a better place.
  16. The PM's recorded comments were naive unless she actually intended to take on the military. Either way her days in power are numbered, as are those of her father. I don't expect a coup. Possibly some sort of arrangement between Anutin and the PP.
  17. Not a bad smell, and much better than cigarette smoke.
  18. ...and an English aristocrat, Diana Spencer. In other words he is in no way related to the Saxe-Coburg Gothas who led Britain into 2 World wars, and into its' subsequent decline.
  19. I find it incredible that Labour initiated this. What were they thinking ? This could result in the murder of a small baby.
