Trump Wields Executive Order to Dismantle State Climate Laws
Thingamabob replied to Social Media's topic in World News
62.9 million people voted for Trump in 2016, 74.2 million in 2020, and 77.3 million in 2024. I doubt that they are all stupid. A somewhat presumptuous statement on your part. -
Outrage as Puppy Dragged Behind Motorbike, Saved by Local

A pathetically soft penalty. The scumbag who inflicted such vicious cruelty on a helpless little animal should have received a jail sentence. -
Trump Accused of 'Market Manipulation' in Tariff Reversal Shocker!

Labour Revises Plans on Grooming Gang Investigations Amid Backlash
Thingamabob replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I doubt that Labour will ever be forgiven for this. They have stopped a full and proper investigation of the organized gang rape of young white girls by Pakistani men, by so doing hoping instead to attract grubby Muslim votes. Utterly disgusting and utterly shameful. -
Best you stay in Oz by the sound of. it. For myself, living and working in many countries, and retired in Thailand since 1993, every day has a routine involving chores, exercise, occasional shopping, and, at 83 years of age, periods of relaxation late morning and early evening. Never bored.

Outrage as Puppy Dragged Behind Motorbike, Saved by Local
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
He should get jail time and a fine, and a court order forbidding this specimen of Thai manhood to ever go near another animal for the rest of his life. It'll never happen, if course. This is Buddhist Thailand where the official line is all Thai people are kind to animals..... -
Chiang Mai's Raft Rumpus: G-String Dancer Causes Outcry
Thingamabob replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
At this rate it won't be long before moral guardian units are out and about promoting virtue and punishing indecency in the land of smiles. -
Phuket's Foreign Outburst: Drunk Man Chases Thai Resident
Thingamabob replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Nonsense. Cannabis, whatever it's strength, induces calm, not aggression. The story of the russian roulette incident has yet to be clarified however the use of nitrous-oxide, and a Lithuanian's dubious account of the event, are under investigation. -
The builder who constructed our house and outbuildings at our place in Rayong had great skills and knowledge. He and his team were hardworking, and they finished the project on time and to perfection. Could not have been bettered by anyone anywhere else in the world.

FTSE plummets to one-year low amid global stock market chaos
Thingamabob replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Way, way too early to draw any conclusions regarding Trump's tariff policy. Market panic has become a standard reaction to any policy change. Meantime be on the lookout to buy certain shares at bargain basement prices. -
One of the sadder aspects of life in Thailand is the dislike/contempt Thais have for trees. When, supposedly, trimming a tree they appear to attack it with what seems to be venom and hate. Strange. This must be a relatively new phenomenon. Many will remember when Sathorn, in Bangkok, was an attractive tree-lined a avenue, only to wake up one morning and see that all the trees had been chopped down in the dead of night. Sacrilege.

It all depends on the variable amount of funding available to each individual, in Pattaya or anywhere else. Some will happily get by on their basic pension and adjust their lifestyle accordingly. Others, with more available income, may run more than two homes, employ several staff, and will incur major maintenance costs re swimming pools, house maintenance etc. Then there will be those with substantial incomes but who prefer a modest life style, and others with less substantial incomes but who live beyond their means. Accordingly there can be no definitive answers to the questions put by the poster.

Put simply most tourists behave well, a few don't.

Foreign Tourist Punches Thai Driver During Heated Argument in Phuket
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Thuggish behaviour by the foreigner. Ideally he should get jail time, pay compensation, and then be deported with a lifetime ban. Reality is he will get away with paying a small amount of compensation. -
BBC Faces Backlash Over Use of Term ‘Revert’ in Islam Coverage
Thingamabob replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The UK civil service, the judiciary, the BBC, and the police, inter alia, are combining to bring about an islamic state in Britain governed under Sharia law. They are doing so because they have been promised, by Muslim activists, prominent positions in such a state. The reality will be that they will be eliminated almost as soon as an Islamic state has been achieved. -
