  1. The clown running the BoE was largely responsible for the mess.
  2. A great way to treat someone who regularly gave him money and food.
  3. He has bought his way back into Thailand. Be prepared for some odious developments, both for locals and for foreigners.
  4. Not at all offended. Have a nice day !
  5. If you were doing Visa trips to Cambodia that's not so long ago. The Cambodian border used to be closed to all visitors.
  6. Personally I find peoples' updates/experiences of dealing with government departments interesting and sometimes useful. I also enjoy the occasional joke, albeit very occasional these days.
  7. Changed from marriage to retirement some years ago because it involves less hassle, although more expensive. A personal choice that would not suit everybody.
  8. Nothing worse than a pompous, self-righteous prig. Lighten up.
  9. Brits have suffered under mostly rubbish governments ever since the end of WW2.
  10. I think it is almost entirely down to never being colonized when their neighbouring countries were under either French or British rule. It was actually convenient for the colonial powers to have Thailand as a bulwark separating their colonies in east Asia. Thais, however, are taught that it was due to the colonialists fearing Thai bravery and military expertise. The downside today is that few Thais have the language skills to communicate in international forums.
  11. Brave guys, taking on two girls.
  12. Fair enough, but not in my experience.
  13. I should have said property owner. Sorry about that.
  14. Forgive me, I was referring to visits by Immigration to people who are sick or disabled but who needs extensions etc. I thought that they would no longer do this but from what you say I am wrong.
  15. Sorry about this. Now I can't find the thread. Let me know where I am wrong on this.
  16. The change is that Immigration no longer make home visits. Maybe I'm wrong. Kindly let me know.
  17. As far as I know Thai immigration no longer makes such visits.
  18. With all this going on Britain is sitting on huge reserves of gas and oil (and coal) which the government is refusing to exploit, preferring to import the same fuels from overseas in pursuing its' net zero policy. Completely daft, and a betrayal of British people.
  19. For the arrested workers this is more a violation of visa and work permit laws than an infringement of regulations regarding cannabis. Remains to be seen if the Thai business owner had the necessary permits to process cannabis.
  20. Going back to 1962, when I first arrived, rules regarding foreigners in Thailand were always enforced.
  21. 83 years old, and living mainly in Bangkok for over 40 years, and until recently a cigarette smoker (now down to 1 small cigar per day), so far so good. No lung issues.
  22. In happier times. a long time ago, immigration officials, if requested, would visit the homes of sick and disabled foreigners for the purpose of granting extensions of stay etc.
