UK Public Trust in Law and Order Undermined by Two Tier Policing
Thingamabob replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The reality is that the UK has been badly governed for generations. Two tier policing/sentencing is just a further indication that the downward slide in Britain is going from bad to worse. Very sad to see. -
My first ever experience of Songkran was many years ago. I was walking on a pavement adjacent to Lumpini Park in Bangkok when a Thai lady wearing traditional Thai dress approached me and asked if she might speak with me. I agreed whereupon she sprinkled a small amount of water, from a bottle she was carrying, onto my right wrist and wished me a happy new year. It was a charming gesture, very far removed from today's antics. Other old timers will likely have similar memories.

I wonder if you were speaking Thai with a Lao/Issan accent. That would put off a lot of Thai women. Anyway, don't give up, keep trying. -
74% of Thais Expect Political Changes After Songkran: Poll

The current government is failing Thailand on all fronts. It's ethical reputation abroad is poor, to say the least, while it's focus on China for trade is helping only a few Thaksin insiders. -

A cry for help, to the Universe, from Planet Earth.
Thingamabob replied to Jeff the Chef's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There are way too many people in the world putting a huge strain on services and natural resources. However we are continually being told to increase the birth rate in order to produce enough young people who can be taxed to provide funds for the care of the increasing numbers of elderly people. In other words we are either not willing, or not able, to come up with a solution to this problem other than to encourage world population to be forever increasing even though that will eventually lead to chaos. -
Missing Welshman Found After British Media Reported His Disappearance
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
A mature 26 year old would tell family and friends he intended to disappear for a while, thereby not causing concerns, and not wasting police/rescuers time. This 26 year old has a lot of growing up to do. -

You have managed to totally distort the issue. It was not the schools circulating porn, it was the pupils. Next time engage brain before opening mouth. -
Does living in Thailand drive you to drink?
Thingamabob replied to Don Giovanni's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I drank far more in my home country, the UK, than I have ever done in Thailand. -
China's Zero-Dollar Trade Sparks Thailand's Economic Woes
Thingamabob replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand suffers from an elite who couldn't care less about how it's market manipulations affects poorer Thais, and a historical subservience to China which was only briefly interrupted from the 1950s through to the 1980s during which there were fears of a CPC inspired communist takeover. -
US Expat in Thailand Faces 10 Years for Threatening US Senator
Thingamabob replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Good question. When I was a kid at school in the late 1940s/early 1950s black and white, postcard size porn pics imported from France were widely circulated. The idea that youngsters have only recently become exposed to porn is nonsense. -

62.9 million people voted for Trump in 2016, 74.2 million in 2020, and 77.3 million in 2024. I doubt that they are all stupid. A somewhat presumptuous statement on your part. -

A pathetically soft penalty. The scumbag who inflicted such vicious cruelty on a helpless little animal should have received a jail sentence.
