  1. Good to hear from you and from Bday Prang. We have 6 cats and 5 dogs at our place in Rayong. We have a walled garden but the dogs and the younger cats often take off when the front gates are open. We have never lost one of them in over 10 years. In Bangkok we have a female Tabby, Tiger, who mainly lives outside. Some years ago she lost a rear leg in a roof fan but is still doing well. My advice earlier was really for those who live in busy, built up areas, with traffic, where the dangers to pets are numerous. A TB.
  2. Should she have known that she was about to be hit by a bus speeding on the wrong side of the road ?
  3. Absent the customary report that the cobra was returned safely to the wild.
  4. A very sad occurrence for the little cat and it's owner. If your cats, or other animals, get outside their chances of survival are slim. You either need to be 100% sure that they are confined indoors at all times (which most cats don't like), or that a secure space is constructed for them outdoors, preferably within a high walled garden. Care for our animal friends can become an expensive exercise, best not attempted without full security measures being put in place
  5. Ignorant nonsense from beginning to end. As for your description of Amsterdam as a 'criminal, scum infested, cesspit of a place ' I suggest you should withdraw that comment at your earliest convenience.
  6. Good food, friendly people, warm weather, warm women.
  7. The govt is in chaos. There is a strong possibility that the new regulations will not be implemented.
  8. Illegal businesses ? I don't believe so. Also, drug dealers investing in transport and mules is not what is being discussed here. Perhaps you should read more on this subject.
  9. 'Fortunately my wife was never a bar girl' you say. I have friends who have been happily married to former bar girls for many years. Your comment is deplorable.
  10. The only evidence against her was circumstantial. How on earth a judge and jury came up with a whole life sentence is beyond belief. Also, some serious questions to be answered by senior hospital staff.
  11. At 83 years old, and having lived permanently in Thailand since 1984, apart from a relatively short spell in Taiwan, no health insurance and no problems. Have instructed family to under no circumstances to seek medical treatment as and when I become terminally ill. Just keep me going at home on painkillers until I expire.
  12. Met in 1983 in Thailand, married in 1990 in Taiwan. I am now 83, she is 70. Still happy together, living in Thailand, in 2025.
  13. I once read a couple of sentences. I have not done so again.
  14. A rather silly comment. This is a serious issue for Thais who have invested heavily in this business.
  15. Poor lad. What a rotten start to life. Parents entirely to blame. I just hope that the authorities will sincerely help him to gradually adjust to a more normal existence.
  16. Today's UK police get themselves involved in far sillier exercises than this.
  17. I got badly shafted in the 1990s after I went into a partnership with substantial Thai partners to build a hotel and college in Kao Yai. The 97/98 crash occurred, our supporting Thai bank collapsed, and the project died. My Thai partners ran away leaving me with unpaid debts and an unpaid workforce. I am lucky to have been well enough off to survive the huge losses incurred, but I would advise people to be very, very careful before investing even a small amount in Thailand.
  18. Reminds me of 1997/98. The difference now is that Thailand has significant reserves to draw on, or so we are told. Back then Thailand was being urged to devalue the Baht in order to urgently boost exports and curb imports. It failed to do so and the result was the monumental crash which reverberated all over the world.
  19. There is a lot more to be told about this story, starting with how he finished up unconscious in Pattaya having intended to spend the evening 'clubbing' with friends in Bangkok. Just for openers, where were his friends when he apparently disappeared, and who took him to Pattaya ?
