    He's said far too much already. After all these years he has still not learned to control his big mouth. If he's not careful the hierarchy will have had enough, and he will be on his way to Dubai, again, probably accompanied by the PM, his daughter.

    As has been said earlier Buddhism is not a religion, it is a philosophy. What is mainly practised in Thailand is not Buddhism, it is a combination of animism, idolatry and business. In the latter case a lot of money is made out of fortune-telling to a largely gullible and poorly-educated people.

    Looking at a period in time from the 1960s to today I would say the nightlife was the most fun during the 1970s and early 1980s. Great music in the bars, girls not pushy, everyone friendly and up for a laugh. The original Queens Castle on Patpong 1 was amazing, and was voted the best bar in Asia by Time Magazine.

    Strange question. Only answer could be along the lines of 'sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes maybe' when out and about with the Thai lady to whom I've been married since 1990. Certainly neither of us are remotely interested in looking 'cool'. Couldn't care less.

    Just heard unconfirmed reports, described as big news, that Robert Kennedy will join the Trump campaign.

    Abortion is a tough subject. Many years ago my first wife and I agreed that she should terminate her third pregnancy for reasons concerning her physical and mental health. That decision has troubled us both, now in old age, ever since.

    After many years of living and working in Thailand my impression of the way in which the Thai elites regard poor Thais has never changed. They couldn't care less.

    First arrived in Bangkok in 1962. So many changes. Mostly good, but nightlife atmosphere nothing like as much fun as it once was.

    The Thai govt say they are stepping up efforts to curb Chinese business dominance ? Stunning hypocrisy. It's the Thai govt which has opened the door for the Chinese already. Too late now.

    I've lived in retirement in Thailand since 1993, having previously lived and worked here during the 1980s. I apply for an annual retirement extension at CW, previously at Soi Suan Phlu, Sathorn. Never once used an agent. 3/4 hours of minor inconvenience once a year is a small price to pay compared to the cost funding someone else to do it for me.

    She's in a spot of bother regarding her involvement in the illegal purchase of monastic land. That didn't take long to emerge, post her appointment. Meantime, Daddy's still not been given the all clear on an important outstanding charge re 112.
