    So, the TAT awards itself 10 out of 10 for it's performance in spite of the overall decline in the numbers of higher spending visitors. 300 baht is a small issue. Way more important is the need for the Thai govt to decide, once and for all, whether it wants westerners to visit and/or reside in Thailand, or not.

    Well said. It's mandating the use of vaccines, not anti-vaccines per se, which is the issue. People should be allowed to make their own choice. Whether vaccinated ir not, however, individuals should observe all necessary precautions to avoid the spread of disease.

    According to my bookmaker Trump has increased his lead over Biden to over 5% in opinion polls. However, opinion polls have hardly proved reliable in recent times.

    The tax changes regarding residents are under discussion. Far from certain they will ever happen. Meantime I doubt the small 300 baht charge would make any difference to the number of visitor arrivals, whether applied or not.

    Married to my Thai wife for 40 years. She is 68 I am 82. We are still happy together. She is a great cook, drives a car with skill, and enjoys a laugh. I consider myself a lucky man.

    The majority, at all levels, were opposed to Britain being dragged into a second world war. At the same time, however, the majority supported a major increase in Britain's defensive capability on the land and sea, and in the air.

    The way in which Heath treated the dominions and former colonies when we entered the EEC was a disgrace. They were ignored. We should have encouraged a better, closer working relationship with them rather than joining with Europe.
