  1. He's going to have to come up with a lot better story than that to be believed. Unless he comes up with something far more believable, his goose is cooked. He brought the tools with him, it was premeditated murder and then to come up with a pathetic excuse of the older man tried to force him to have sex and therefore resulted in the murder, is a very weak defense. He is a lot bigger guy and could have just refused. Nobody will believe this nonsense. The case is way too high profile to be swept away and after all, it's two foreigners in a lovers tiff as far as the Thais are concerned. I think it will be death commuted to life because he will have to accept his guilt, It will be the minimum eight years in the big house, then transferred under the prisoner treaty back to Spain for the remainder or balance of his sentence. He isn't going to get a Royal pardon for this heinous act. 29 years old, a business that was flying, a noted chef held in high regard, a good family with a good upbringing and he's thrown it all in the toilet. What a clown!
  2. Hun Sen was installed by the Vietnamese and kept on a leash for years as a puppet on a string to do their bidding. Yes he was Khmer Rouge and yes there are indeed plenty of surviving members in high positions of government within Cambodia to this day. There were just a few notable Khmer Rouge exceptions who were high profile and couldn't refute the evidence against them and went down for the behaviour of all the others. Hun Sen constantly interfered in the war crimes tribunals behind the scenes and constantly refused and blocked assistance to their investigations. He is indeed an evil dictator but unfortunately has the people where he wants them and is now going head on to form a dynasty of his own making surrounded by cronies, family, and sycophants. He is now hedging his bets and sucking up to the Chinese and North Koreans.
  3. Wow, You are cynical, I wonder why I was just thinking the same! Brother and father get a brief mention, obviously nothing of merit, almost a scolding for not sending regularly enough, but we got the full address for donations if anybody is minded to donate. At the end of the day it isn't much of a story except family having to pull together in sad and difficult times and some doing more than others. Reminds me of my own family in days gone by. I came from a family of seven children and a widowed mother who held down two full time jobs to keep our family afloat. There was no super ' benefits Britain ' in those days. The first up was the best dressed in our house!
  4. I think the Police would be up for the ' fine ' bit of the equation.
  5. Yeah well, Then maybe smashing the bike up of a kid with a gun toting meth addicted father isn't such a great idea?
  6. Well, nationality becomes relevant especially to identify the culprits, when shopkeepers and bystanders are all saying that these are ' Arab youths on rental motorbikes '
  7. No, he doesn't know because his narcissism won't allow the possibility.
  8. In 2018 they were connecting the rail line from Bangkok to Phnom Penn....????
  9. Give the pensioners more? They should with all the tax they have paid.
  10. I think they just get bored of things to announce and want to see if the waking public are still awake and walking upright, so they pull rabbits like this out of the hat ,as a test. I mean there's only so many times in a week you can talk about Thaksin's return, tourist numbers going up, how many times the Police have ' rushed ' to the scene of a crime, and how Pattaya is only going to cater to "high spending and high new worth individuals".
  11. I don't really think it has anything to do with religion anymore, even if it did have in the first place. A lot of these people are about as Muslim as those in Bangkok are Buddhists. It's about (in my view ) drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms, contraband and whatever else is on the agenda that is illegal.
  12. Yeah, good luck with the ten year lawsuit. True again, especially if it suits his purposes for a platform to say what he wants. The end result is the same for us all.....We die! People like Chuwit who is a rascal and has been around the block, know how this game is played. It wouldn't surprise me if he was kicking around in 2/3 years.
  13. It was never about Red shirts and Yellow shirts, it was always about finding a path for Thaksin's return.
  14. In a country of this size and power and the best they can manage to muster is Prawit? The guy can't stay awake long enough to tell what time it is on his Rolex let alone bend down and tie his shoelaces. So another who knows how many years of nothingness, hot air and stagnation.
  15. Why is anybody surprised by this news? And this is precisely why Prayut was so calm about it all blabbing on about peaceful transitions to the handover of power. This was always the game plan.
  16. I agree with another poster whereby a lot of these lists are compiled by firms that have something to gain by people pursuing these options through these firms. I think you would find ways and means in most of these countries to stay once you were actually in that particular country you were interested in relocating to. You would then learn the pitfalls and advantages first hand that you won't get from an online free sheet or flyer.
  17. I wouldn't want to be there for any length of time more than two weeks in Malaysia, I feel I would get a bit bored. I have been a number of times but not recently.
  18. Usually a great start for expats is to decide if they can assimilate into a country that they choose and not expect that country to change for them.
  19. I think he overestimates his importance these days. Times have moved on and we have a new generation of voters now and their latest plan to get power by getting in to bed with the devil will cost them dearly.
  20. It costs too much in the West because of all the human rights, appeals and high salaries to keep it all going. Not in the East, no money in the jail, then it's rice and whatever they give you with it. The Authorities here just refer you back to your Embassies, even though we know their remit is very limited when it comes to prisoners abroad. I remember a prisoner once complaining in Chonburi prison about his rights and needing a doctor. The response the prison officer gave was typical and he said ' It's not my job to look after you, it's my job to keep you in here ' and that is how they view it.
  21. And just like that a skilled surgeon's flourishing business and career as well as ' allegedly ' a top recognized chef and his businesses up in smoke. The world was at their feet career wise. Obviously more to this. The Chef has ' stewed ' over this and it is a premeditated act. The guy was definitely not thinking rationally. All for what? Allegedly, the Chef had decided to ' marry a woman ' Nah, more to this, If that was the case then why the elaborate charade of meeting up in Thailand, pre planning and purchasing the tools to do it, switching booked rooms. etc If it was a simple case of a relationship ending, it could have been done over the phone. There is a very nasty, vindictive, and callous aspect to this murder leading me to think the Chef, ( and a profession known to have a tendency to attract highly strung individuals at the best of times), is severely unbalanced.
  22. I am not anti death penalty. I just think it is too quick and puts them out of their misery and fear awaiting their unknown fate way too quickly. This is why I like the American system which goes on and on and years of solitary confinement, not knowing, appeals, let downs and further appeals whilst all that time they have to "stew" on whatever crime they committed and relive it over and over. They have the excruciating boredom to suffer day by day and one hour out of their cell whilst the wait for the inevitable. The mundane life and existence as well as the repetitive food day after day. A quick bullet or lethal injection is just far too quick.
