Got a better idea, ban the young partying tourists from Bangkok and all high rise buildings and make them all stay in bungalows on Koh Samui or Koh Chang. It's a win win, these islands will get customers all year round and Thailand's image won't get tarnished with people falling off balconies and insurance companies will have to find another way of avoiding paying out.

When I first arrived here many years ago I took a high class apartment in Bangkok for six months. We were on the eighth floor. The building still stands proud today but has had a name change to Somerset Place I believe. The property is well built and well maintained. In the six months I stayed there, neither I nor my Thai partner, went on that balcony. Neither of us are a fan of heights. It's simply common sense with or washout alcohol. I am certain the insurance company has told the family why they will not pay out and I think the family is keeping this quiet or it could derail anybody who was willing to donate from helping, if the accident was caused by ' foolish ' or ' reckless behavior ' I hope the young guy gets the help he needs.

Is it okay to lie to your partner of 5 years?
Scouse123 replied to Isan Wanderer's topic in Marriage and Divorce
It looks like you have made your mind up already just to tolerate this behavior and the only thing you are looking for on here is sympathy unfortunately. Furthermore, your usufruct until registered is useless, but you know that. You don't want to follow her to this remote village in case you find something that you can't ignore, you know that too. So instead you are resorting to writing on any anonymous forum instead of taking action to find out the truth as to what is going on. Both gambling and playing away from home, as they believe they are smarter than us, is a common occupation for ' bored ' isaarn girls. It takes two to make a relationship work and from what you are saying she isn't keeping to her end of the bargain. -
Similar to Cambodia, the only ones talking about a color revolution are Hun Sen and his cronies in the CPP. Not the people on the ground, the public nor the now non existent opposition parties. All these things are designed so that those in power can use these things as an excuse to crush dissent against anything they disapprove of.

Do I have to pay the Pu Yai Baan to come to the Amphur with me?
Scouse123 replied to stubuzz's topic in General Topics
They get a salary plus ' bungs ' our Pu Yai Baan has just treated himself to a big fancy new tractor. His wife also grows next to our land Sugar Cane, which she shouldn't be doing inside village areas.( not even her land) It's a well known No-No because it sucks all the water and nutrients out of the land, the chemicals involved and spraying plus the amount of bugs and pests it attracts,............ but she carries on regardless. But of course, one rule for them and another for us. They pretty much leave us alone unless it's festivals, or parades then they send their minions ' on the tap ' for cash. Love the village life with the natives, me!...........Good job I have seven foot walls around the perimeter! -

I paid mine 300 baht for his time and trouble, especially if the Amphur asks for him to be there, go on the safe side. You don't strictly need them for this service, No. But if they have requested his presence I wouldn't rock the boat. -
I have private health insurance and always have had. My current insurer is Thai based Pacific Cross but members have said they can be very difficult to get them to pay for a claim, hence me looking around, not that I am ill in any way, I am not. I have three years no claims with them and an excess of 40K THB When I contacted my broker, she said it was true that they rigorously check the patients history, but in the event that pre existing conditions have been declared and nothing hidden or omitted, they pay out. I have also checked out Wr Life but I am advised that not enough is known about them as they are a relative newcomer to the market. Another poster suggested Mister Prakan on here and they have responded that Pacific Cross is best in the current market.

How to deal with a card game addicted wife?
Scouse123 replied to Toughsituations's topic in Marriage and Divorce
We cook fresh in my house and it gets cleaned every day by us, we have no maid. We also have a spare house on the land that gets cleaned weekly. My other half also has a gambling problem but doesn't have people round, its those casino things online! It's caused no end of fights. I go to bed and she pretends to watch movies but just waiting while I clear off to play online. She then tries to compensate by cleaning through the night time, once the cash is gone, and continues this for a week or so, then crashes and is useless for a couple of days because they just want to sleep as they have no money to play online. It is a big problem., I've started to ignore and be very difficult with her if she wants to ' advance ' from her salary. The motorbike is always getting pawned, but I don't pay it anymore, I make her pay out of salary as I warned her the pawn shop can take it. Some members need to know, that when the pawn the bike, they retain the bike but the pawn shop holds the ownership documents, so you can go for months not knowing that they have pawned something. She has a salary, pays no bills at all, a big house, brand new car, all paid for, fridges and freezers are full but still gambles. -
A hell of a lot more than that. But even I don't leave that amount of cash or valuables around the house and I am in my own compound with six dogs, a secure safe, an camera system with movement lights in the garden areas. I certainly wouldn't leave those sums in a 3/4,000 baht a month single room, and I don't know many Thais that would either, if the workers had that kind of money saved, which they rarely do.

We need a serious conversation about Joe Biden’s brain !
Scouse123 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Are there honestly any serious Americans on this board that think the USA will be better under Trump? That man is a walking nightmare, a liar, a menace, a draft dodger, and a danger to the USA on the world stage. Biden might very well be becoming forgetful and maybe he's not the man to represent the Democrats in the next election, but the USA certainly doesn't need another dose of Trump. It's a shame you can't have Obama again. -

It's common among Americans to claim Irish roots because their great great great grandfathers daughters boyfriends racing pigeon was Irish. -

OMG, That is bad. What a lousy way to have to live. -
He won't go to prison as a Royal Thai Navy officer defending a ' damsel in distress ' and the other witness is dead and had a loaded gun with him for no good reason. The military will swing into action to back up one of their own. This will be a classic ' self defense ' aided by the dead guys ex partner as the star witness for the defense. Then it's ' Move along, case closed, nothing to see here '

I was speaking to the rep from Pacific Prime yesterday and she basically said that they are very keen on checking up claims at Pacific Cross, and it's true premiums are linked to claims as well as age related. She did say that the majority of disputes with company and client tend to be a result of the client not informing about pre existing conditions. I don't know what is true. Cigna re quoting me in the region of 93K THB which is double Pacific Cross. Also, their quote was for a semi private room, not a private room, and cover applies only to Thailand and the UK, not to Asia such as Cambodia and Vietnam where I often travel. I am awaiting the quote from April International insurance, not April local insurance, from the French based company. The agent informed me the last quote I received from April was not an international based quote from April, but a Thai based quote, so they obviously have one for Thailand/Asia as well as an International quote. So, I have been following up on all advice given here on the board.
