Gosh , you seem to know everything about him ? You ought to help out in this investigation! Sounds like a personal grudge to me against all police , or a case of putting all your eggs in the same basket.
I have witnessed and been up close and personal with the Thai Police at very high levels and I know very well how they work.

I have never been and always been curious.
Friends of mine put me off when describing the levels of poverty and they said particularly in Manila, they always felt on edge, and unable to relax.
I have met many Filipinos on cruise ships, working in Thailand and the UK, as well as Cambodia. I even have a Filipina tenant in one of our houses, but I just don't fancy going there.
Stories of machine guns at shopping malls, and guys who have been there 20 years suddenly cross the wrong Filipino mafia at some random beach resort.
My tenant says she feels the stories are exaggerated, but she agrees Manila is a dump and she prefers living in Thailand herself.
The Philippines is way too big to judge on its capital.
I have heard the women can be downright vicious, and things can turn very ugly, very quickly once they get a hold of you over there, there is none of the ' Mai pen Rai ' attitude there.
I like my breaks in Vietnam and Cambodia, with a bit of Koh Chang thrown in.

And with equal respect to you Sir, that is not the criteria for a straight cop here. He made every effort to ensure that Immigration policy and law was being followed and tried to stamp out payments under the table. For that alone, he should be commended. And for that alone he is hated by many of his less straight colleagues.
Yeah,
Because that was a great photo opportunity to further his career.
Why mess about with Immigration corruption when there is far more money to be earned in online gambling?
When he gets up to nonsense, you allow him to play the victim and commend his previous ' deeds ' as though one cancels the other out.
He tried to stamp out nothing, but none of them did, it's a pure deflection or somebody up the pole isn't getting their perceived share and you class this as an ' honest cop '

OR
You can pay somebody in an office outside the test centre 300 baht to sit in the mundane classroom bit and fill out your necessary paper forms. I did it yesterday.
That leaves the difficult bit of handing in your old licence plus yellow book and Pink ID, copy passport and extension, doing the 2-minute competency test for depth and colour blindness, paying your 505 baht for a CAR driving licence, and off you go!
I am not sitting through all that nonsense when I have had a full UK licence for the last 40-plus years, which is far harder, when we go through proper testing to pass, than a Thai driving licence.
🙂😆

but am I the only that thinks everyone is really making a mountain of a molehill, here?
Yeah,
But it's got this lot fired up on a warm Tuesday!
Nobody outside, it's too warm, so they're all frantically getting their opinions across about somebody nicking egg fried rice! 🤣

I think that the restaurant should have reported the couple because of the dire potential consequences for the Waitress. Also, I doubt if this was the first time they had cheated a shop or restaurant.

Can't believe the restaurant done nothing and let them go with an apology and payment.
Obviously doesn't want the word to get around what happened as they think it will scare their other russian customers away .
Money wins !! 🙈
And how do you think they should be dealt with?
They were informed they were in the wrong and therefore returned and paid the bill.
Also, before we all gather for the stoning, we haven't heard the flip side of the argument, or aren't you interested?

Even thought there a scumbags from every country, Russia seem to have far more than their share.
Unfortunately, some highly placed groups in Thailand see only money, money, money.
Well, you wanted the Russian....you got the Russians. Sadly, for me it is just one more item to consider when
making my potential exit plan from Thailand.
You'll be missed terribly, when do you leave?

That's always been the case. Low class destination.
I'm driving almost every day in Samui, there always a steady flow of tattooed, shirtless, no helmet scum around me, trying to break the road rules in every possible way. I feel that I'm living in Thai version of Mt Druitt or Blacktown.
So a person shirtless in 40C is scum to you?
All people with tattoos are scum and so are people who ride bikes without a crash helmet.
It must be difficult living up to your standards of perfection when everything is rosy in the garden, and we all pop around next door to share our parsnips with the neighbours.

I wonder how many newspapers and messageboards we could fill if we reported in the UK every time somebody left a restaurant without paying?
Even going so far as to include video stills as evidence of the misdeed.
A public flogging is warranted for such a heinous crime.

Not sure if I believe this story.
I don't. It's too far-fetched IMO.
That aside, if it had been an 18-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl he would be in jail facing severe charges of rape etc

Big Joke woes: Warrant issued for money laundering
in Thailand News
Posted · Edited by Scouse123
]There was a warrant out for his arrest by the court for failing to comply with previous orders and that is why he attended the police station for bail so no they don't ' leave the country ' because their egos don't allow it and they think they can bluff their way out, and on many occasions, they can.
At the moment they are still gathering statements and information and deciding on further action because not only are there criminal charges involved, the situation is further complicated by the fact that he is a senior police officer, so that comes into play as well.
It is not like a member of the public that just jumps bail and disappears.
