  1. a little more to this story.........out of the blue, my on-line SCB Easy account started working again (computer based) and the Mobile App doesn't, just keeps going to a sign up page..........okay, I will "let sleeping dog's lie" now the on-line account works again...........I had noticed the interest rate seemed a little lower than usual, I was getting a steady 24-2600 baht a month, now that has dropped to around 1200..........wonder what has changed???. I saw this on their website: Deposits 1-1,000,000 baht = interest 1.50% >1,000,000 baht = interest .050% this makes no sense to me at all. Wasn't there a notice that only 1,000,000 baht will be insured in any bank account, or was that scrapped. Thanx again for the good information.
  2. Agree totally with first sentence You totally lost me on the second sentence, unless I missed the 'tongue in cheek' I can't for the life of me figure out what current President Biden has to do with it, he has failed in everything he has attempted, 'cept maybe doing business with China.
  3. 40 Baht per $$ by years end. - Oh wait!! - I said that last year.............oh well, this may entice some tourists, 34 baht per $$ is nothing to sneeze at.
  4. Let's just hope this is the First Step to make changes............I know, I am the Eternal Optimist..........but if the start putting people in jail, and they start losing their jobs, and can't pay for their cars - moto's - Insurance goes up, maybe they will learn. Right now they can just get a ticket and pay the fine, or bribe the cop. It's gonna take the cops to start taking bribes as well (did I see hell freeze over) Peace
  5. Well what do you know............logged on just fine on Mobile App, guess I'll just have to wait until I get back to Thailand to try & straighten out the On-Line Inernet version..........Mobile App loses some functionality,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but haven't played with it yet. Just got the E-Mail (on-computer)warning I always get when I log on so "Life if Good" I had horrible versions of things that have happened in other banks where some bad tellers started cleaning out foreign accounts............but every single baht is still tucked away for the future. Thanx for making my day!!!
  6. On-Line internet only, I never use my phone for banking - call me old school. I tried to change password, it asks for Debit Card number (which I have) but still says.........Cannot log into account with this Username..........I added that username in 2016 and have used it every month at least 2 or 3 times a month.
  7. My problem is slightly different. I am in Hawaii at the moment, I usually log onto my account a few times a month to check bill payments, interest etc etc etc. Have had this account for about 15 years, I just tried to log onto my account (on-line as usuall) and got the message "Username cannot be used to log onto this account) I am asking forum if anyone with SCB has received any notices that usernames or passwords have to be changed?? Any help will save me a bundle in Telephone calls from here. Thank You in advance
  8. At last, a voice of reason, shows someone is actually reading the news and reports - Kudos - Vietnam used Sinovac from China exclusively at first, My Lady and her sister are now scheduled for their fourth shot - since the Chinese vaccine is only good for a very short while. Thai Govt needs to fall in step with the rest of the world and realize China is not your friend.
  9. American and western arrogance Yeah, it's all our fault, it was America that released the Corona Virus, and China saved the world by creating a vaccine.............who writes this crapola...... when will Thailand realize China never does anything for 'nothing' there will always be a price to pay............soon menu prices will be in Yuan and Baht. Thailand wise up, you will reap what you sow. Peace
  10. Make it a Thousand and they won't eat for a week, now that would be an incentive Peace
  11. and confiscating motorcycles until fines are paid, the Police have parking lots full of them i- fines not paid in 120 days get auctioned.
  12. I am with you on that, just because the Govt doesnt require it, doesn;t mean the Airlines cannot mandate it in the interest of Public Saftety.............Who does Thailand think they are not requiring say Lufthansa or Air Nippon to not require a test before boarding. I say the airlines can and should issue their own mandates,
  13. If I am not mistaken Dek a Jaan's are what in the east we call Katydids.............tons of the up North, they eat them quite regularly in Isaan and Laos..............but I agree with the above folks, I think these are frogs, tiny lil fella's in the rice fields, but hundreds start the noise at once and can get quite deafening. Cicada's have a shrilling, whirling sound that can last five, ten minutes each.................good thing they only come out every 7 years or so in US Central states
  14. An addendum to this - I lived in Cambodia for 2 years in early Nineties (Wild Wild West days) tens of thousands of motorcycles, you could literally walk into one end of Russian Market start picking your parts, and drive out the other end on a motorcycle..complete with registration and plates........but when people started breaking the Laws, the police would stop you, confiscate your Moto for a few hours, make you clean the streets etc etc etc...........then the roads started becoming organized chaos, but Traffic Police were everywhere. Same in Vietnam.............there are so many motorcycles, it's almost like there are more Moto's on the road than People..............the Police will confiscate your Moto in a heartbeat, they have parking lots full of them - waiting for people to pay the fines, no pay, no motorcycle. No excuses like "How am I going to get to work, school, markets??" Bribery?? probably happens, but when you can spend 10 years in prison for accepting a bribe over $400 USD, how many cops are willing to try................ they auction most of them off I am told. It seems that Thailand only confiscates the ones that are involved in street racing..........dunno.........I only know what I read. Peace
  15. You know, I see this comment "Change the rules, Thai people just wouldn't accept it" I am wondering "What choice do they have, give them enough fines and they will learn the law" The laws are on the books, they just have to be enforced...........consistantly, without bribery and corrupt Police. Yeah, pipe dream I know, but when they start confiscating motorbikes AND cars for awhile - then people will listen - eventually. There comes a time when you have to bring the hammer down. Okay, I'll get the popcorn and wait for the flamers.............Peace
  16. Richard Barrows, the Ubon Joe of the British Empire.........Kudos to you Richard. Peace
  17. Witnesses?? or Co-Defendants. Video footage is not a witness, it is evidence............Peace
  18. He's still about half the age of the average Ex-Pat living in Phuket, Pattaya, Bangkok............I say "Living" in Thailand, not visiting.
  19. I know this is about LGBTQ hiring issues, but to illustrate the Thai mindset, I was on a hiring board of for a job where I worked, and after interviews we narrowed it down to five very qualified individual's. One of the requirements of the job is the selectee must be Thai. The chairwoman of the board rejected my selection............when I asked why she said "The job is for Thai people, he is Muslim, (from Narathiwat) he is not Thai" Incredulously, his application went into the No bin. I would think the Thai would think a Trans person "not a woman" for the purpose of hiring for a job, requiring a woman. Mi Dos Centavos Peace
  20. "While the boat was traveling at 8 knots," Hmmmmmmm That's a little more than 9 miles an hour, I can walk/run faster than that, no way will she have hit the water so hard to cause injury, then drowning..............They have to come up with a better one than that. He never drove a boat before?? How does he know he was going 8 knots, or even what a "knot" measurement is?? Now, if someone has the link to the 'Cat Fight' that was supposed to have happened, that would shed a little light on the matter. Peace
  21. I always did, just to tie up any loose ends that may occur...............an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure(?). You know Thai Officials, they just love, and I mean love, using their "I am Important Stamp" o a piece of paper, or in your passport.
