once again, it would appear that the IT system and pre programmed Q&A are unable to respond to changes . A change in rules may not have been programmed into their Systems. A vexing scenario which is being experienced all across the globe as authorities rely more on robots. "Hey Doc, I think this patient is alive"! "No the m/c says DOA". ????

The uniform application of the Laws of Thailand.
fgmr replied to fgmr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
DrJack54, I presume you do understand that USA has Federal Laws and State Laws. You are confusing laws enacted by Thai Regional Authorities and those posted in the Govt Gazette. Question for you. Does obfuscation of the law assist the lawbreaker at the expense of law abiding citizens -
The uniform application of the Laws of Thailand.

Presumably this is an issue that does not concern the foreign diplomatic community in Thailand as they do not have to deal with it. Diplomatic immunity et al! Hence the normal law abiding foreigner trying to stay within legal boundaries is faced with this problem. Hence relevant dialogue regarding this topic with Thai Govt., is ignored. -
The regional variations to the application of laws passed by the Central Lawmakers is a continuing open gateway to corruption. I copy below a recent advisory from the UK Embassy regarding getting married in Thailand. "You need to make an affirmation of marital status in order to get married in Thailand. It is your responsibility to check which documents are needed by the district office (amphur/amphoe) where you will register your marriage before attending your appointment. Each district office has different requirements and Embassy staff are unable to advise you which documents each district office requires." The United Regions of Thailand? FGMR

I therefore conclude there must be a few foreign insane people living in the UK now. Perhaps that was just tongue up the £$^& comment. -

About time that the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office employees started working for their privileged overseas postings and high earnings. What processes are being invoked to ensure that the COVID Certificates are verified and genuine? I am sure the resources are available, it is the effort and leadership of the FCO staff that is required. -

Thailand Laws and implementation
fgmr replied to fgmr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks Mikesil, Having previously lived in LOS for 15 years and experienced personally the topics you have mentioned I concur. However, this does not explain why! There is a legal firm based in BKK which has advertised it's services regularly on ThaiVisa and whom I approached for advice on obtaining a Yellow Book. After diligently following advice and obtaining required documents I presented self and docs at the local Amphur Office based in Surin. I was turned away. Friends base in Buri Ram in exactly the same situ as self gor their books without any hassle. Querying this with the legal eagles in BKK I got a reply. "The rules are applied differently in each Province. Given the above what is the point of issuing National Laws. Do Provincial Governors have the power to over ride Parliament and the Senate? If anyone is aware of a cohesive document that explains the Thai Legal System please advise! -
From past browsing on this site I have come to the conclusion that the laws are open to different interpretations at many Immigration Offices. Are not the laws concerning Immigration applicable nationally? Are they so loosely defined that individual IOs can adopt and implement their own version? Why is there no avenue available to appeal against these various interpretations?

Longan growers seek help from Thai government as prices hit rock-bottom

What effort is being made to export this fruit either fresh or canned to Europe, USA and UK? In the UK the supermarkets display a large variety of fresh, canned and frozen fruit. There is no visible active marketing of imported Thai products. -
Any views more recent than 2008?

the last time I tried to contact the Thai Embassy in London was back in Nov and December 2019. It seems as though nothing has changed since then. I eventually took Ubonjoe's advice and travelled without. I got a tourist visa on arrival and was able to change it later. Thank you Ubonjoe, I am unfortunately back in UK and waiting for the gates to open again. At age 81 I am having a problem meeting the requirements of the C of E. I have been double jabbed with the AZ vaccine in the UK but I understand I will still have to quarantine on arrival. Who is going to provide be with affordable Health Insurance at my age? fgmr
