Thailand Faces Economic Question: China and EV Cars
Kenny202 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
To think these EV cars are a flash in the pan you would have to be blind. I live in a major north eastern city and EV's appear to be everywhere. I thought Thais would be more cautious / conservative about new tech but seemingly not. Would I buy one at this point? Probably not. The lifespan of the batteries and vehicle itself, quality of the Chinese build etc as far as I'm concerned not proven yet. And a lot of hoo ha at the moment Hydrogen is the way to go. In fact I think Toyota are heading down that path which speaks volumes. I will say this though, we got a Grab taxi a few weeks ago and rode in a BYD. Was stunned by the look, interior...the whole thing controlled by a tablet and last but not least the ride and acceleration was incredible. I have a 2014 Isuzu pick up which I bought new and haven't really been in a new car for some time. I must say made me feel old, like something from a futuristic movie. My feelings are the future of modern / future cars will be like current fad type items, like phones, TVs etc. Everything is disposable these days. If you don't have the latest, and in the case of phones anything over a year old is considered obsolete / dinosaur / wouldn't be seen dead using it. I mean the luxury car market (BMW, Benz etc) are so high tech now it's pretty much like that now where cars over 3-5 years old developing issues become uneconomical to repair -
Anyone reccomend a decent / legit antivurus program?
Kenny202 replied to Kenny202's topic in IT and Computers
Already downloaded and used Malware bytes. Seem to be on a free 14 day trial but the basic program is free after the trial finishes? It seems really good, I like how you can opt to run the scans when YOU want to. Picked up 72 PUP potentials which I quarantined. So far so good. -

Thanks Mike, does it include more than Windows virus protection can? Malware, spyware, ransomware etc? -

Is Microsoft Defender the virus program that is built into Windows 11 settings or do you need to download it as a separate entity? -

Yes well they're not free anymore lol...company I am using now, no names....original plan $59 US renewal they try it on for double that to resubscribe....then when you go to unsubscribe from renewal they instantly offer you a 50% discount. Not to mention the constant up sell, threatening warning messages. I often wonder if some of the spam ransom type emails are sent from these companies as a hurry up. Just overall not a good experience -
Been through 2 anti virus companies last few years and no viruses...but get so tired of being bombarded with threatening messages f how vulnerable you are and the constant up sell / warning messages for add on's that aren't included in their already expensive program. In some ways the prevention is worse than the disease. Also find it a little hard to trust my personal information to a company that behaves so unethically. According to this companies own warnings of how inadequate my basic $100 per year service is, telling me I need their other 15 add ons, I was wondering if what they provide is any better than the basic virus protection that comes with my PC / Windows

I did see a few of those videos on the cabin filter but I thought there were other external filters... Could be wrong. Do these pollen filters get blocked up? -
Anyone had experience replacing these? Difficult job?

You're a bit late to the party Crossy lol? I have at least 6 Japanese electronic things including guitar amps, effects units etc all Japanese 100v and the 110v 50hz transformers work fine. Usually the actual 100v transformers are hard to find and expensive but seem to be more readily available now (per my post above), particularly the smaller adapter packs.

Re set ups....I have been here 10 years and never heard one story of a girl, hooker....minor or otherwise setting up a guy for money which surprises me here when every other scam / set up in the book is on the table. I have heard plenty of these stories back home. How easy would it be for some girl to claim you did whatever without consent and demand money given how nasty and resentful they can get...experts at garnering sympathy and telling lies
-
I think its deemed as any form of "inducement" I had a friend got into trouble with I think a 19yo. Cost him a considerable sum of money too he said. He didn't give much detail, said it was too embarrassing but he claimed legal age of consent aside, there is some archaic law where the legal age of consent is only legal with parents permission until 19 or 20yo. The tricky thing was he claimed that permission could be given, then rescinded later after the fact....so for eg some guy promises he will marry the girl in the future, dowry etc. Then scarpers or changes his mind...the parents can also change their mind on permission and seek restitution. I think its called a "compoundable" offense meaning it's not necessarily a jailable offense, can be sorted out with money / settlement provided all parties are satisfied. All an oxy moron and contradictory but I knew this guy for 30 years and he is not apt to making up stories. Have heard it mention on AN quite a few times also. Not saying it is correct, just my experience

So this phone came out with Android 11, updatable to Android 14. If the phone has been factory reset can I still do Android updates independently after security updates have ceased? Are they a separate thing to security updates that you download direct from Google or are Android updates provided with factory security updates?

Problem is I need a really decent camera for business purposes and even 10000 wont buy that. I got good cameras too but for inside stuff without lighting etc you cant beat a good phone camera. Thus I have to compromise. I see people on forums talking like 2-3yo phones, TV's or electronics are ancient and how could you even consider these things. We have made a rod for our own backs these last 20 or 30 years. Things like cars and electronics used to be revered for their reliability and long life. That's why we paid more. We have been brainwashed into thinking everything is a fashion accessory / status symbol now that is obsolete soon after buying, nearly an embarrassment to have. It's quite unbelievable.

Thanks so much, that's all I was worried about that I couldn't at least get the last and previously available updates to at least get it up to date now. Not so concerned about future updates....from what I can gather any initial bugs were ironed out early. The last and probably final updates was Feb this year I think. Thank you so much for your time 🙂

Sorry, really don't understand what you are saying. I am not looking to gain anything, only reset the phone for a fresh start or maybe the seller has already factory reset the phone. I always do when selling a phone. I know they have stopped issuing NEW security updates but I would have thought they would have made the previous / latest ones still available should someone want them. I assume when you factory reset the phone goes back to its initial state that it left the factory. There may have been 10 bug fixes / updates since then. So are you saying I will be stuck with the original set up? Whats confusing me (with all respect) is you say Factory reset will remove all security updates, then you can update to whatever state it is in now....which I assume to mean including all and last available updates. Reason I am concerned is I believe there was a little overheat issue and a couple of camera bug fixes that were sorted out in the first few security updates. Why I want to be sure I can at least get to the last available updates. I don't care about future updates....only the ones up until the security update period expires. If I need to hack or root the phone or do other stuff probably wont buy it. Thanks so much for your help
