  1. Its a bit of a myth that these substances completely knock you out and potentially make you a liability in an emergency - suggesting so is a little sanctimonious. Medication such as this just 'takes the edge off ' - so that once you are asleep the things that might otherwise disturb you tend not to... the cabin noises, someone knocking your seat, a little turbulence etc'... that just doesn't disturb you... ... but, if a passenger who's taken such a 'sleep aid' needed the bathroom etc they'd have no issues... they can still get up and go... If something serious occurs they'll can wake up and can respond without issue. From that perspective, this is perhaps better than someone getting blind drunk so they can sleep.
  2. Link ? - & where does ex Stickboy get his information from ?
  3. Hey stupid replied again, how goes it champ ? Ignored... not dropping to that level of retardedness.
  4. ohh... you another stupid. wow AN has all the stupids coming out the woodwork lately. Oh dear... So because 'you can access funds quickly'... You draw the assumption that everyone can.... ... and you throw out the term stupid... Thats the pot calling the kettle black.
  5. No really, beds are hard - still a problem... Fly First Class - Problem solved... Or... get realistic - not everyone flys business class, so your of cuff remark is pathetic and serves no purpose. Best info has been provided for the Op.. get a prescribed sleeping aid. Another option is Melatonin, which works better for some than others.
  6. Brilliant for you.... But you still can't understand that others might not have such fast access to funds ???? What was your first line again ?
  7. If you can communicate from your PC to your phone directly (i.e. through AirDroid) you may not need a cable and can transfer the files that way. I used to have a huge music Library... 100's of albums meticulously copied from DC and downloads into my iTunes... then about 10 years ago or so, I got Spotify and never looked back.... Just make your own play lists that can get shared across your phone, computer etc...
  8. Only 14% of those stopped and breathalysed at check points blew positive ????... hmm... I'm going for... 14% of those who were stopped and breathalysed at check points blew positive met quotas... meanwhile a large proportion were able to circumnavigate official processing with a little lubricance.....
  9. Indeed.... what kind of antisocial ayhole drinks 10 beers then drives ??? Authorities need to come down on this behavior far more harshly than they currently do.
  10. A certain poster is going to sh!£ himself that this wasn't a Brit !!!!...
  11. True - but it offers more feasibility as to what the foreigner was doing in the truck in the first place. If true, its seems he was drinking / drunk at the bar the Thai guys were working at and they offered him a lift home - this seems completely feasible to me. He then got agitated and started a fight, this is also perfectly feasible to me.
  12. Was he walking ????
  13. Riding a motorcycle in Thailand is a known dangerous behavior. Therefore, if he were riding a motorcycle in Thailand, then... He would be culpable and responsible and irresponsible, and therefore not worthy of sympathy or financial support. Riding a bicycle in Thailand is not known as dangerous behavior ? Arguable, riding a bicycle on Thailands streets is more dangerous than riding a motorcycle - does that not make someone culpable, responsible and irresponsible and not worthy of sympathy or financial support ??? Reading between the lines there - it seems you might suggest that anyone riding a motorcycle in Thailand is not deserving of sympathy IF they are involved in an accident, even if its not their fault. Given that the roads are notoriously dangerous, where do you draw the line ??? ... Crossing the road - Its dangerous, no sympathy if someone gets hit by a car ?... Yes, I know thats gaslighting, but your comment is at the thin end of that wedge.
  14. I see that (robbery) and the IP in a drunken state reacting as a viable explanation, at least as viable as the 'two good Samaritans' story....
  15. I'm not quite sure about that - I've been work permitted here over various projects in the past, I was not aware of any social security health care I had access too (had private cover though). I believe the employer has to set that up, or, if self employed, he has to register for that himself. It may not have been something he was aware of, even while (if) working legally.
  16. Thats good news... But I would also hazard a guess that there are many posters on here who do not have cover that stretches to 10 mil Baht - there are many policies that have a cap. Equally so, are you so confident that you were fully insured when going on holiday when you were in your twenties ??? - I look back and its not really something I considered - thus, I can actually understand it that others get caught out, more through naivety than anything else. As mentioned earlier - compulsory insurance cover would eradicate this issue and stop the authorities complaining about the burden of unpaid medical costs on Thailands health care system.... But, the practicalities are tricky to work out of course.
  17. Their knee jerk reaction has kicked the can down the road (literally and figuratively)... and created a greater danger elsewhere.... Your initial suggest or re-routing the exit from the Salt Factory seems a sensible solution, but it seems authorities are incapable of bigger picture thinking and lazily pursue half measures instead. How long before someoene else is killed hitting U-Turning truck on a busier road ??? ... no one really cares at all - this is so very apparent in these situations.
  18. The posted video clearly shows unwanted attention and unwanted physical contact. I am not sure how you can possibly defend the male in this interaction. Harassment and assault are clearly defined terms and this behavior falls firmly within those bounds. This is based on legal context not your 'assumption or interpretation'. The video shoes there was unwanted physical contact - this is both Harassment and an Assault - IF you had watched the video you will see there is no deviation from that behavior. The guy followed the woman into the elevator, followed her out of the elevator, followed her back into the elevator, cornered her in the elevator, touched her in the elevator, she tried to squirm out of the way, the guy cornered her in another corner of the elevator, he toucher her again, she exited the elevator and went to security, the guy fled. .... Is this something you think you could accidentally do ???? The guy didn't live there, he didn't accidentally find himself in a lift with a female, he targeted her. Yes we do, there a video !... And yes, the evidence is extremely clear. The assault was of a sexual nature, its Sexual Assault - you may have been of the assumption that a 'specific area' of the body need to be 'groped' for an assault to be deemed sexual, but this is not the case. Sexual Assault is quite a broad term and can include: - Unwanted physical contact - Inappropriate proximity - Coercion or Threats - Indecent Exposure - Non-Consensual Sharing of Sexual Content - Voyeurism - Sexual Coercion
  19. Yep, so theoretically, IF the girls motorcycle was taxed, it was also insured by Por Ror Bor. Also, If the car was taxed, it was also insured by Por Ror Bor. Thus, any medical expenses up to a 'cap' will be covered. But, if the injured party cannot work and the driver was at fault, a compensation request for lost earnings from work is not an unreasonable request - in fact, given the fact that its likely a very small amount, refusing this request is rather a nasty thing to do.
  20. Accidents happen all over Thailand... In area's of higher 'foreigner footfall' there is a greater liklihood of a foreigner being involved. In 20+ years of driving here I've been involved in 3 small road accidents... what do you say there ? fancy that it happened in Bangkok ?
  21. Why is his visa status relevant ? It seems he was running his own business - so no insurance through a school. Its not clear if had insurance that was capped, or if he did not carry insurance at all - which of course is foolish, but a lot of folk are in that situation, including many on this forum. There is no information that suggests he was riding without a helmet or unlicensed - like another poster you are alluding to something in a vacuum of information.
  22. Why would be be blamed for his own predicament while riding motorcycle but not a bicycle ? do you know something we don't ???
  23. The comment below (from the opening article) implies he was no longer a teacher, but was involved in placing other teachers in schools - perhaps through an agency he'd started (or something similar). But, to take this point a step further - many local polices have cap, and perhaps he'd already exceeded this cap with the insurance. I know a person here who worked at foreign Embassy - due to cuts they put this person on a local contract (with a local health care policy) when this person fell quite ill the policy was insufficient (ICU for 4 weeks), family had to re-mortgage their house in the UK. So, simply have 'a policy' may not always be sufficient.
  24. I think so too... I can't imagine any other way he could have fallen in... ... Drunk, dropped something, tired to retrieve it, fell in.... What a horrific way to go...
  25. It was already happening on the first day !!!
