Best 'Gummies' in Bangkok ?
richard_smith237 replied to richard_smith237's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
What's 'visible alcohol' etc ? You on the 'wacky backy' and ' life threatening poison'? That soap-box is getting slippery.... Its obvious ABC.. was referring to any form of alcohol within site plain site and you are being deliberately obtuse while trying to derail a thread you have no interest in contributing to... -

Do you also make similar comments on threads which discuss Wine ? Perhaps you find threads about Ladboys more 'family orientated' - have you ever posted a similar comment on those ? -
Qatar Airways - what happened to them?
richard_smith237 replied to samtam's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
If all airlines stopped pandering to about a 100 different ludicrous options than airline prices would probably be 10% cheaper all around Meat....Fish.....or go hungry Agreed... Airlines have a long way to go to please the more 'out-there' dietary restrictions... .... However, if someone is ordering a 'Vegetarian LACTO-OVO' mea or a 'special Asian vegetarian meal'... their expectations should not be high.... Thats obviously difficult on a long flight when hungry etc... but I see airline meals as simply filling a gap, I have no taste or quality expectations whatsoever. -
Regarding this..... I wouldn't want to sit there all day and watch anyway... So I can understand why they don't want you watching in a work-shop, especially as there is equipment in there that could end up hurting you. That said: We've just discovered damage to our car that highlights an important part of the servicing was not carried out leaving us in a potentially dangerous situations - Complaints filed to head office - Thus.... in the auto-industry, it seems people lie and cheat so much that we do actually need to be watching them... and, 'most' management are lazy and fail to put systems and checks & measures in place to ensure things are done correctly (or in my case done at all). Its difficult until we find good people we trust - the issue is that this can be quite a S£it show anywhere.

Is your Forza a new one ? Or did you purchase it second hand ? It will be easier to sell on with an official Honda Service history (particularly if its still new). If you are not bothered about that, then find a local shop and build up a relationship. I suspect local Honda dealership doesn't want to service the bike because they are likely busy enough and / or with the extra 'tub' parts on the Forza its just more hassle to service for them (they are lazy). Regarding purchasing spares: You should be able to easily get hold of any spares needed online (even lazada).

Qatar Airways - what happened to them?
richard_smith237 replied to samtam's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I think this issues is multifaceted. #1) The Use of pints issue with a partner airline seems a JAL issue rather than a Qatar Airlines Issue. Last Year I was able to transfer a load of Avios to British Airways and used them for family flights within Europe (on British Airways) - it was a surprising how easy it was. Thus: I suspect the 'set up' between Qatar Airways and JAL Rewards scheme is extremely clunky. #2) Contacting a help line - Pre-covid many airlines were much much better. It seems all airlines let a load of staff go - All airlines are struggling terribly on the customer service front. #3) Booking Air-miles tickets direct with some Airlines themselves is often easier than with others.... Wife was on the phone with TG for an hour yesterday to book Air-miles flights for next year (because they have limited availability even a year from now) - TG make it very difficult to get simple things done if not conforming perfectly to the very narrow lines they expect us to colour within. Thus: You [OP] are colouring outside expected lines - The system of using Air-miles of one airline to purchase a ticket with a different airline hits a 'does not compute' with most customer service staff as they are not familiar with such a request - hence the hiccups. All air-lines seem to have got worse I hope that tide chances, worse still the prices are massively elevated. As you are prepared to pay directly anyway, In your shoes [Op] - I'd be a little stubborn and play it out. As your timing seems little flexible... you have a number of options when paying out of pocket. Thus: Wait it out and see what you get - worse case scenario you have to buy a ticket, but as the cost of business class doesn't vary to the same extent Eco does, that shouldn't bother you and in the mean time you may get what you want. -
Checking into a Hotel without my Passport
richard_smith237 replied to Danderman123's topic in Pattaya
saved my queuing and time many times, from getting additional papers every time for official services, buying cars, motorbikes, emigration, departure and arrival from abroad. For hotels, I stopped trying using my pink card and driving license. When stay 50+ days on hotel year in Thailand it is to many miss than hit. Ignore him... idiots don't know they are idiots and there is simply no point in engaging with them whatsoever. Pink ID has plenty of uses, but thats not the subject. -
Checking into a Hotel without my Passport

Theoretically... yet they have worked all over Thailand for checking in for flights and hotels... So the 'geographical limitation' while correct is not an issue (until it is of course). -
Checking into a Hotel without my Passport
richard_smith237 replied to Danderman123's topic in Pattaya
That depending on the hotel being serious about doing their duty registrering foreigners who check in. Many guesthouses and resorts only bothering checking in wife if she is with me. Also travelling countryside they really do not care much Stayed at decent hotelsl... Centra / Marriotts etc... they're ok with the Pink ID... but thats a somewhat moot point if the Op doesn't have one. -
At the point of 98.5% downloaded there ceased to be anymore people online seeding to the torrent server (as you mentioned Seeders was zero) - that means at 98.5% the download stopped and the files are incomplete. There is 1.5% missing... which could be from anywhere within the 'package'... (You won't be able to really tell where that missing 1.5% is until you start trying to watch the programs... There could be a missing second here, a few seconds there, within any of the individual series within the download). The only options as I see it - Hope someone else starts re-seeding the full package (unlikely) Or, bin what do you do have and start again...(which is what I have had to do in the past). Best forward plan IMO - Bin your existing incomplete torrent. Look for the same TV Series (Torrent) elsewhere and look for the one which has the highest number of seeders, that should ensure the torrent doesn't drop out before you have full downloaded it. (also the more seeders, the faster your torrent will download).

The owner said if you speak Thai then get out!!
richard_smith237 replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It seems some people struggle to understand the underlying purpose of the ‘The Pub’ sub-forum. As dumb as I think the thread is, it’s in the right spot & clearly you aren’t Joseph… If you want ‘Useful stuff’ don’t read a sub-forum designed for silly lighthearted stuff… -
Removing shoes going into a shop- selective hygiene?
richard_smith237 replied to Scouse123's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That 'machine' that takes your weight more commonly than not also measures your height - thats why the shoes come off. Why a hospital wants to measure your height whenever we go is another matter. -
A VPN is recommended when downloading copyrighted content... (which most movies / TV shows on PirateBay are).
-
No need to sign up to Pirate-bay... But hiding your IP and using a VPN is recommended as downloading torrents can otherwise be traced.
-
If the number of 'seeders' is zero... then there is no one is supporting the torrent feed any longer - there is nothing to download. (this is the reason why stoners group requires a 1 to 1 ratio - to keep streams alive).

Familiarity breeds contempt?
richard_smith237 replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think its a case of 'familiarity breeding contempt'..... .... in this case there is a growing level of contempt for the pathetic content of your threads... Its a shame for you that you post in a 'laugh at' and not a 'laugh with' manner..... ....in playing the village idiot you have become the village idiot - its rather sad but I really do hope its just a forum facade and that in person you are far more mentally sound that you appear. -
Why not? Do you oppose it? May. he spend the rest of his worthless life in jail. I'm not against the reporting of this at all.. But I do question the timing and motives for reporting this two months after the event... As I mentioned, I suspect this is published not because its news (its already history) but because this will attract views while 'piggy backing on the “bad farang” rhetoric'...

Pay money for a VPN ? If you want a decent VPN then yes... I use Express VPN... I think its about US$100 per year, for multiple devices.... If you don't want to pay for a VPN then you are left doing the constant dance of circumnavigating issues... When I want to log into UK TV to watch the Rugby on ITV or BBC (channels), I don't have to worry about finding a functional free VPN without popups and adds etc... Also, in some countries a lot of regular sites are blocked... so the VPN proves very useful.
-
Try switching to Brave... (browser)... I found this site (AN) almost unusable using Safari, FireFox & Chrome... But the add blockers on Brave have been very effective. https://brave.com/

Go through a VPN... A lot of ISP's can identify and throttle back and block torrent downloads (apparently).

I think this could be one of the most effective 'Go-to' for self protection against a couple of dogs which show aggression towards you and approach.... Although, once a pack exceeds a certain critical mass they are not fearful of anything... I'd hope that a 'zap' of one of these things is enough for a couple of dogs to yelp and run off and the others to learn a follow. Its also less 'offensive' than carrying and shooting a powerful BB Gun which I suspect may even be illegal and highlight the 'farang' as an aggressor rather than protecting themself, whereas the optics of carrying a cattle-prod is more obviously about self protection.
-
It doesn't... not when they get together in a pack... not a lot fends them off, not even a massive stick. I recall being up a small soi and about 7 dogs packed together an started coming towards me, growling, snarling, teeth showing... Whoever mentioned.. "don't let them know you are scared" has not been in this situation !!... I picked stones, threw them, even hit a couple of the dogs that didn't deter them at all. I think the only thing that might work if they are really aggressive is a powerful BB Gun... But then we'll read the headlines in this forum.. ... "Farang caught shooting innocent dogs"... and everyone will want him deported and blacklisted. As always, Thailand doesn't resolve its issues and the public are left stuck and at risk, but also at risk of blame when they do try and protect themselves. I remember such a news article a number of years ago about a 'farang' recorded by a member of public hitting a dog... of course the moral-traffic was mostly one way in pure condemnation of a 'bad farang' attacking an innocent animal... ... imagine the netizen outrage in the 'post Swiss & Russian kick / NZ Gun tussle ' era !!!...

It would be interested to know that figure in proportion to number of foreigners in Thailand... i.e. Are there more crimes per 100,000 of foreigner population compared to 100,000 of the Thai Population ? Foreigner 'issues' are certainly more news worthy... after all, who's interested in 5 Thai Youths beating up a disabled guy ?... its hot news for a day... But if it were a 'Foreigner' beating up a disabled guy - it'd be international news followed by weeks of outrage.

Familiarity breeds contempt?
richard_smith237 replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Its astonishing that Bob is completely oblivious to something so obvious.... ... but when evidence of such obliviousness to those in his immediate environment is provided in almost every thread he posts, then the reasons for the issue faced are not only obvious, but can be expected.
