Deadly Altercation Erupts Among Friends Over 'Hitler' Drawing
Same here, remember one mate got very upset on awakening, lunged towards me and fell over as we'd ties his laces together ???? Back in the day (Rugby and Football teams), you'd end up with missing eyebrow.... .... falling asleep was an absolute no-no... ... one lad received the 'Friar-tuk' and had a bald patch shaved on the top of his head.

BS! People use weapons/objects to make the killing of others easier! It then follows that removing weapons makes people killing people more difficult! Don't bite - its just a facetious dig at the 'anti-guns argument'......

Local Thai restaurants
She suggested she'd teach KannikaP with some Education, as he claimed a very simple question was 'very vague, not very clear'.... Nothing wrong with the Ops question, plenty wrong with the utter stupidity of some of the replies. Yup... Yinn was a bit hard-core and many suspected she was a Western male playing the part. I thing its fair enough for us to give the Op the benifit of the doubt on this one - its a reasonable question, not to far off the 'where's the best burger' type of question. Yup... I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.... Once we have got past Nick Carter's trolling responses.

Local Thai restaurants
Great !!... if you were genuine of course you'd post the name and location. This restaurant has a a Michelin star.... (319 Maha Chai Rd - Raan Jay Fai) ... however, its well and truly on the tourists 'to do list'...

There are native English speakers who's grammar and spelling is worse. If what is being written is easily understood, then there is no issue. A 'grammar checker' would help someone learning the language (and many of us), but I wonder if your point is not to offer advice but to kick someone who is on the receiving end of some very unfair comments.

Local Thai restaurants
Fair enough - if you think that is a Thai Restaurant worthy of note...

Local Thai restaurants
She asked about Thai restuarants, and anyone who can't work out what that is is a fool. For the record... A 'Fish & Chip' shop in teh UK is a 'take-away restaurant'... ... and some of them you can 'eat in'.... in which case its just a 'restaurant' that sells Fish & Chips ! In this case its pretty clear that the op wants... A non-touristy, Thai Restaurant (restaurant selling Thai food) in which a person or group can sit down and eat..... Its really not difficult - why are so many people being pr!cks about this ??
-
Local Thai restaurants
So what... Difficult for you to get to is someone else's 'next door'.... so your point is utterly irrelevant. Very clear parameters.... Non-Touristy Thai Restaurant... Thats simple. If you dont understand that, it is you who is flawed. Good - What Thai restaurants in the LaSalle / Bearing area do you think are good ? (it wasn't difficult was it !) She's getting snarky answers because idiots are bullying a new poster. The question is a simple one and the answers could be handy to many of us who are interested in visiting different Thai restaurants.

Local Thai restaurants
Don't be ridiculous... We're in Thailand... a restaurant is somewhere where you can sit down an order food, in this case, Thai food - thats as complex is this question needs to get.

Local Thai restaurants
I think rightly so... A very simply and valid question has been asked and the Op has received some pretty moronic responses. I am personally interested in this thread as I often have guests visiting and it would good to learn of other Thai restaurants (restaurants which serve Thai food) that I could visit with guests. I know there are hundreds around, but some are better than others, some have a nicer setting etc, some are just rubbishy tourist rip-offs and some are spit 'n sawdust but authentic and amazing. This thread is not really any different than a 'best burger' thread which for some reason doesn't attract the same decree moronic responses.

De facto wife
Can we not just work on the premise that the Op isn't gallactically stupid and the fact that he is discussing visa options for his 'Partner' is clear indication that she is not Thai ?
-
Local Thai restaurants
You are either deliberately trolling or are genuinely unintelligent. A Thai Restaurant cooks Thai Cuisine. A Mexican restaurant in Thailand cooks Mexican Cuisine.
-
Local Thai restaurants
Op asked specifically for 'Local Thai Restaurant'.... Not Local Restaurant in Thailand. Thai Restaurant - Restaurant that sells Thai food. Local Thai Restaurant - Restaurant that sells Thai food (near you in Thailand). Local Restaurant - Restaurant (near you in Thailand) that sells any food. The assumption with the use of the worth 'local' is that the person responding is in Thailand, otherwise we'd have people such as yourself deliberately obfuscating the issue and listing their 'Local Thai restaurant' in Kentucky (or wherever they are).

De facto wife
It seems a couple of mongers are struggling with the idea that not everyone bin's their partner in lieu of banging prostitutes.... Exactly as DrJack54 wrote - the provision more info will yield better advice. i.e. is your Partner planning on living in Thailand full time or visiting for a few months at a time etc.

X-ray - Bangkok | Ankle fracture
Just curious - how much was the MRI ?? I just had two MRI's - One at Bangkok hospital which was 10,000 baht. - Another at Burmrungrad (2nd opinion) which was 17,700 baht (both costs listed are package costs before physicians charges are added). Dr's are more than happy to interpret the results from imagery taken at another hospital. Thus: as you mention, its possible to get an X-ray at a cheaper place and then go to a hospital where a Dr. will speak English and perhaps even do a better job of image analysis. There are a lot of good things said about Bangkok Christian Hospital too - so that is also an excellent option and much likely cheaper than the Hospitals I listed above. It's also very probable that the Dr's there will speak English.
-
X-ray - Bangkok | Ankle fracture
Of course it seems expensive if you are comparing a Top Tier International Private Hospital in Bangkok with a provincial government hospital in Nan !!! I'm sure there are numerous cheaper clinics and public hospitals in Bangkok too... ... Do the Dr's speak English there ? (part of the ops requirement).
-
X-ray - Bangkok | Ankle fracture
There are loads of hospitals in Bangkok. If all you need is an x-ray and a simple interpretation from a Dr to tell you that its ok to transition from a cast to a boot, then any will be ok. Of course, you want a Dr. who can speak English and explain things to you - Dr's in pretty much every private hospital will (should) be able to speak with you in English. As an idea, below is a list of the top hospitials I would use. - Bumrungrad - Bangkok - Samtivej - Med Park - BNH It really depends on your location - Find the nearest private hospital. For a simple x-ray, all will be find. Most have an online appointment system or you can all up and make an appointment. Most should be able to 'fit you in' that day or the following day. The issue of course is you'll need to book and appointment with a Dr. who'll then recommend an x-ray AFTER seeing you, and then you'll see the Dr after a follow up appointment - so you end up with 2 Dr's appointments and an X-ray.

Deadly Altercation Erupts Among Friends Over 'Hitler' Drawing
I suspect that this has nothing to do with the 'hitler' symbols itself (which I assume to mean Nazi swastika) and that one of the 'drunk' men fell snoozed off and his 'friend' saw it funny to draw on his others face.... the fight then ensued...

Thai condo owner discovers shocking state after foreign tenants leave
They do mean the same thing, though, and the article is written in English. They don't mean the same thing. Farang = White Westerner in Thailand Foreigner = Non Thai (when used in Thailand) In the context of the article the use of the word foreigner clearly means a 'non-Thai' person.

X-ray - Bangkok | Ankle fracture
X-rays are inexpensive, even at the hospitals known for being more expensive. i.e. An X-ray at Bangkok Hospital will cost you around: - B1600 - X-Ray - B500 *Nurse Fees & other charges - B650 Physician fee

Child drowning tragedy: 11 year old boy loses life in Khon Kaen Pond
Agreed... either post a photo of the actual pond as part of the article to highlight the specific circumstances... But.. to post a stock photo of an apparently drowning child is in horrific taste.

Child drowning tragedy: 11 year old boy loses life in Khon Kaen Pond
It is comments such as the above which single you out as an utter buffoon. 'Many parents are idiots'.... as a sweeping generalisation to explain the lack of water safety education. "Many parents are innocently ignorant of the risks".... just as I'm quite certain many of use are "innocently ignorant of the some of the risks our children face" and in generations to come our children will be surprised that we allowed them to do x-y-z....

OTP while abroad
You created a lot of 'whatiffery' in your attempt to argue that Wifi Calling is not a viable option. The only scenario anyone would need an OTP is one in which they are already connected to the internet making a purchase or online banking etc. They will be connected to a Wifi network, or hotspotting to a second phone etc. I have suggested my solution which you refuted - its is those comments I contest for the Wifi Calling option is a perfectly viable solution, one which I find the better solution and has worked perfectly well for all of my travels over numerous years (UK, Europe, Middle East, Japan, all of South East Asia) I am travelling overseas approximately 10x per year and often require receipt of my Thai OTP. I also contest the suggestion that the Wifi Calling option is complex - I'm astonished that such a simple solution could be called complex when the step are so basic. - Get off the plane leave Airplane mode on. - Connect to Wifi - Ensure Wifi calling is toggled on (Thai networks allow Wifi calling) (if you are trying with an overseas SIM (Lemsta69 & VFS - that is different). Already more to do than Wifi Calling then... no issues with that, SIM roaming is also a perfectly viable solution (with its own risk if you haven't correctly toggled of data roaming etc). If you need your OTP you are doing something on a Wifi network already. & it is this response to which I am arguing. Yet with Wifi calling (and receiving OTP over Wifi) I have never found the need for SIM roaming once. No, I have not suggested that at all. I have suggested Wifi Calling as a perfectly vaible solution which has worked perfectly for my Wife and myself over numerous trips over numerous years (at least the last 5). As stupid as dispelling someones solution because you disagreed with their opinion on a different thread.

OTP while abroad
Did it really need to be explained that after turning on Airline mode you have to turn on Wifi ?? Thats a bit basic... But go back to my first comment: 1) Enable WiFi calling. 2) Keep the SIM in your phone but use Airplane mode (connect to Wifi). Lemstat69 failed to note that because he didn't read it. Also, Lemstant69 is trying to do something different and receive an SMS from Australia while in Thailand & going by his wording [according to their website doesn't require pre-activation] I'm not sure his AUS SIM is even active. You aren't the Op - it was the Ops Post I was answering when suggesting a solution to receive OTP from a Thai Vendor to your Thai SIM while travelling outside of Thailand. As Lemstant69 is doing, it seems you are also trying this in reverse (to received an overseas OTP in Thailand) Its a different issue, Correct some don't (for example networks in the UAE). Thailand Networks do - A Thai OPT can be received over Wifi anywhere else in the world. Some other carriers (from other countries) may not support Wifi calling, that does not mean Thai carriers don't. Its the simplest solution I have found - I'm not sure why you find it so complex. Perhaps because you are trying it in reverse, to receive an OTP in Thailand from the UK. Excellent - SIM Roaming works, As does the Airplane mode & Wifi Calling option. I am not argueing that SIM Roaming doesn't work - I am arguing those who are suggesting receiving SMS over Wifi calling doesn't - and then create different scenario's to the Op (i.e. receiving in Thailand from Overseas - thats a different set of network permissions). Both Lemsta69 and yourself have slightly different requirements in that you are attempting to receive OPT in Thailand on an overseas SIM and not receive a Thai OTP on a Thai SIM while overseas. For clarity, I've nothing against SIM roaming either other than there is a risk of roaming charges if you don't get the settings correct (and accidentally leave data roaming on or answer a phone call etc).
