  1. By no means am I suggesting what the uncle did was right. However, his actions were in response to this boy bullying his son - I wonder how long the bullying was going on for before the father (uncle) snapped. There are two sides to this story and as a father I can understand the actions to put so much fear into the boy that he never so much as lays a finger on his son again. Barbaric? yes. Necessary? thats difficult to tell. What we can be quite sure of is that boy will never bully his son again.
  2. Given the current numbers of EV's on the road. Now, is the charging network superb enough for mass adoption ? - that was the point made. Are you sure your EV's don't have Cobalt in their batteries ??.. Cobalt is an essential part of lithium-ion batteries and give them their range and durability. It is highly likely the battery in your E.V. contains... - lithium cobalt oxide (LCO), - lithium manganese oxide (LMO), - lithium iron phosphate (LFP), - lithium nickel cobalt aluminium oxide (NCA) - lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) The mining for these heavy metals for batteries is most definitely not environmentally friendly. The transport and processing of these metals for batteries is most definitely not environmentally friendly. An E.V. has a higher carbon footprint than an I.C.E. when it rolls off the production line, primarily because of the batteries - it takes approximately 6-8 years (depending on use) for the average E.V. to break even with the average I.C.E vehicle from a carbon foot print perspective. At zero miles an E.V. has a far higher carbon-footprint than an I.C.E. Thats not to suggest E.V.s are no good, they are excellent and help significantly with air-quality in areas of high population density and vehicle use. But, people are pulling the wool over their own eyes if they think an E.V. is 'cleaner' than an I.C.E. - when considering the full lifespan of a car (from manufacture to disposal) they are not and they wont be. As much as I like E.V's I can't help but consider we should have gone the carbon capture route. What I dislike about E.V's is not the vehicle itself, but the owners making ridiculously polished claims that conveniently ignore absolute facts... i.e. your E.V. battery has about... - 8 kilograms of lithium - 14 kilograms of cobalt - 20 kilograms of manganese
  3. I also disagree with these comments which use phrases such as 'sexual harassment' and 'attack' etc... This was not sexual at all... and the implication made by the woke media attempting to inflame this situation weakens the genuine cases. Those jumping on the bandwagon are making equally flawed decisions - a brief peck, even if unwarranted is not sexual, neither is it an attack.
  4. You chose to interpret the comment in a manner which gave you the best opportunity to return an attack on Frits rather than read exactly what he was trying to say. You ran off on a tangent clutching on to misunderstanding - You are usually better than that.
  5. Indeed it is... particularly when age is married with the lack of medical care here at that age unless paying extortionate premiums for insurance. One of the things which may prevent me from living here well into old age is the absence of reasonably priced medical care - insurance premiums for the over 70's is huge. If someone has a secret, please let me know !!!... I wonder how closely the Op looked at brining his partner to the UK. OR, is he a realist and knows that her status may prevent such travel. Its an awful decision to have to make - leaving someone he cares about, I'm sure it was a significantly more difficult decision than some of the insulting and flippant comments suggest.
  6. Wow..... a number of toxic responses... You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
  7. An utterly ineffective Police force whose only intention is to profit from the public rather than protect them combined with mentally absent parenting. If such issues were dealt with with the severity they deserve the penalties would be a lot more severe. Brother in Law was caught with Guns - one of them licensed (handgun) another two, pump action shot gun and rifle - He'd valet parked at a nightclub, retrieved something from the boot (trunk) and the valet (rightly) called the police after seeing the guns. Penalty: 10,000 baht fine & report to police station once per month for a year - that was is. The reasons for people not to carry weapons here is insignificant to the point those who do carry don't give a passing thought to legal consequences as there really aren't any.
  8. These examples of which we read are not the 'tip of the iceberg' as some would wish to believe, but the extreme end of the spectrum. Most Thai's are not this stupid, otherwise as you mention, how would they have survived.
  9. Why would there be petrol vapours ???... tank was leaking or something ? This takes an exceptional degree of fluckwittery.... outstanding effort on behalf of this woman...
  10. I probably would too... But isn't that more a 'fear of the unknown' after being in a world where ICE's and filling stations are the norm? While suffering a dash of 'range anxiety' I'd still have to have a mental word with myself, point out a bit of common sense and remind myself that my car only needs to do about 60kms per day, yet has a range of 400kms. In short the 'range anxiety' issue is perhaps one borne more out of emotion and a lack of understanding than any genuine issue with E.V's.
  11. Does it ??? How many times do you fill up every week ???... We fill up about once per week (which takes about 10 mins I guess from pulling in, filling, paying etc to driving off). IF we had an E.V. filling up the car wouldn't take any time at all, as it would be filling up when parked at home... The only time it would take is to plug it in and un-plug it. So... Theoretically, when considering the factors involving every day and regular use, 'electric' fills a lot quicker than ICE cars unless of course the E.V. is regularly being used for journeys which exceed its range, in which case the E.V. is not the ideal car for that situation anyway.... not yet at least.
  12. Do you worry about where to find a petrol (gas) station when your tank gets to 25% full ? If not, why would you worry about a charging station when you have 25% range remaining (which would be about 100km on a normal E.V.)... Additionally, if being used for 'normal use' (work and back / school run etc) then there is no need to find a charging station as the car is charged at home... Thus making the question about looking for a petrol (gas) station when the tank is 25% full somewhat redundant, as the need for any filling station or charging station is primarily removed. I don't own an E.V. (my car is actually diesel), but I do like to see intelligent pro and con arguments and not poorly thought out emotional bumf on these threads which are often informative when facts are discussed and emotion ignored.
  13. Pathetic trolling again.... try harder.
  14. I think he meant that 'He' [Luis Rubiales] would loose his teeth if it was his kid [frits' kid] who was kissed on the lips.... But.. its just virtue signalling on the woke bandwagon with a bit of personal emotion thrown in for added dramatic impact..... Creating something more out of what is effectively a non-event if it weren't for the media going so crazy.... IF Jenni Hermoso was the victim of 'sexual harassment' neither she or her team-mates were bothered about it at all.. see photo below, she's laughing about the kiss showing not the slightest indication that it was unwelcome during the post game celebrations.
  15. Look inwards.... Anyway, I've feed the troll enough, no more wasting my time with this ridiculous trolling thread.
  16. And you are comparing in person comments with Thai's to random strangers on an anonymous forum ??... Its also excellent that you can have in depth fluent conversations in Thai with Thai's so you can compare the quality of interaction on a level playing field with that of the Westerners you meet - that is so, right, you are fluent in Thai ?... you can speak Thai, right ?
  17. And there you have it... Trolling anti-farang sentiment which is clearly design to trigger a negative response.
  18. I don't think you thought this through. On a lot of the threads you are often at the centre of the bickering because of a lot of inflammatory and triggering comments you make, such as 'Farangs have a lot to learn' which is obviously designed to trigger some negative responses, or if not by design, then you clearly didn't think very carefully before posting. But, to take your comments at face value: How many anonymous Thai forums do you read ?... just so you can compare like for like.
  19. At 3:30am its quite likely the driver was drunk and over-reacted to the dog in the road. Speed was also certainly involved (there's also a video doing the rounds on Thai social medial which shows the incident).
  20. Seems like you've loaded the comment with an 'anti-farang' bias to dig for comments.... ... All just a bit too trollish to bother with...... you'll have to troll a lot harder and be a lot less obvious.
  21. As usual... the headline is completely wrong when laying responsibility at an inanimate object.... Speeding driver in pickup truck shatters young life in Nonthaburi accident There, re-written for accuracy...
  22. It seems you are ridiculoisly bias against Marijuana. I don't consume it at all... But.. How is it dangerous ???.... I mean, at all... how is it even slightly dangerous ?
  23. Similar clearance to mine.... no issued for decades. Mr "There is nothing you can teach me about laundry equipment" will be along shortly to tell us all how experienced he is and that
  24. Ok Mr "There is nothing you can teach me about laundry equipment" !!!... This is like when someone asks which would be the best small Toyota for a family... and someone pipes up that they were an HGV driver for 40 years and through their vast driving experience yadda yadda yadda... ... hilarious...
  25. There's that cultural hegemony, race supremacy delusion again. Put a sock in it. OR... the degree of conformity described is a factual observation many have made. Having asked numerous Thai's why they still wear a mask, the answer is usually that they are not sure and because everyone else is. Ask they why they don't take off the mask and the answer is usually 'mai-dai'... push a little further and its because they don't want to be the only ones not wearing the mask. Call that 'race supremacy delusion' if you like... but is it such if Thai's themselves have come up with the exact same answers ???
