I had to get the MFA verified translation of the Embassy verified copy of my Passport which was the largest hoop to jump through... other than that the process was simple enough. For Witnesses we went with my mother-in-law.... (so its that witnesses are relatives if thats an option) We only had 1 witness, we were not asked for more than that.

Messy and Dirty are different things.... this woman was clearly both. My Wife on the other hand... impeccably hygienic.... but flipping ek she can be messy. Whenever we stay at a hotel within minutes it looks like we’ve been burgled !!!! -
Drinking on an empty stomach is NEVER a good idea.

To start with, I wouldn’t conclude that he’s an alcoholic and start advising him to seek help... The reality is that on this forum as soon as booze is mentioned some posters are tripping over themselves to accuse other posters of being alcoholics on the thinnest of information.... I haven’t had a drink for a couple of weeks. Yet, catch me at a different time and I may have had a drink every day for the past week, a few beers with dinner, perhaps followed by wine... then some Whisky.... Or playing football, then lots of beers afterwards with the guys.... or round a friends house and end up having as many as 2 or more bottles of wine each.... It just depends on the situation... Of course, motion that and some poster will always comment - 2-3 bottles of wine in an evening... you must have a drinking problem !!!.... Or.. drinking every day for a week, you need help !! etc etc... its predictable and boresome. -
Initially, it wasn’t just the 13 digit number that was required - When registering online with Mor Prom App there was also an additional number on the back of the Pink ID card that was required. .... it all worked fine, I had my first vaccination at the beginning of June 2021 when so many people were fretting and complaining that foreigners couldn’t register to get vaccinated etc... Of course, there were some posters (no names mentioned) that continued to argue that ‘we shouldn’t have been vaccinated and that we’d ’slipped’ through the system’.... the vaccinations at the time were only for Thai’s, it was a mistake !!!... From one specific poster, this ‘chip on the shoulder' against those with Pink ID has manifested itself in an almost fanatical manner - very strange behaviour.

Where have I rubbed anything in your face? What has my nationality got to do with anything I've said to you? Well, you never miss an opportunity to remind us that you have secured Thai Nationality. and then you make sweeping generalisations as if you are ‘representing’ all Thai’s because you now have Thai ID... its quite comical...

Dual pricing is practiced in most countries, and it most certainly isn't racist, as me getting the discounted price proves. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean you shouldn't follow the law, principles are everything. Pathetic trolling now.... ‘principles are everything’ !!! And no... dual pricing is not practised in ‘most countries’ the same way it is in Thailand - this debate has been held scores of times.... You’ll not find a similar comparison in many ‘developed nations’ where foreigners residents are charged more than locals.

Possible reason - so he can see up the road a little better. These junctions are a nightmare for edging out and you’re looking right into oncoming traffic and a motorcycle is riding the wrong way down the shoulder.... So.. he could be doing it simply for better visibility / safety at the junction to his area. Or, he just wants to give back.

So it upsets / irritates you that foreigners throw in a Thai word with their English sentence ??? Does it upset you when Thai’s are talking Thai but then thrown in an English word, or is it only foreigners who you think may consider themselves integrating into Thai society who you have some sort of aversion towards ? ‘Yellow Tabien Baan’ has become used as thats what it is... its like when talking about compulsory car insurance people use Por-Ror-Bor, or marriage documents Kor-Ror 2 and Kor-Ror 3 etc... it removes ambiguity of what the specific document is.

No... I’ve been rejected when trying to use a Driving Licence for a flight. Pink ID was fine (not a big issue anyway as I always travel with my passport - wallet is just easier to access). & Pink ID does get the Thai price more than the Thai DL (one example - entering Koh Samet - but who cares about 200 baht vs 40 baht - its not a big deal beyond principle). No they don’t - that is simply YOUR projection of how you THINK others feel... perhaps thats how you would feel in similar circumstances. Stupid analogy - its nothing like that whatsoever. Different experiences - I’ve found the pink ID handy but not essential. Particularly when out and about and not wanting to carry my passport everywhere. Agreed... useful, not essential. I think it was the Yellow Book I used to open my account... the Pink ID is used eery time I return to the Bank and need to do something inside (I don't carry my passport - Pink ID is very useful for this, they don’t accept a DL (not at BKK Bank in Bangkok or SCB in Bangkok)).

They’re in a racket together with the financing company. They make more money on the finance so are trying to force people into that. Either go further afield if you really want Filano... or look at another brand. My last 3 motorcycles all bought ‘cash'... a quick simple transaction on mobile banking.

Why keep the country secret ??? Sounds like extremely unfair treatment, and as you mention Thailand really is strict about people working here (i.e. helping out at their girlfriends bar etc)... ... but really, much of the paranoia is just the myth of barstool experts..... this guy is at no risk... he’s just cutting grass.

Love it when the ‘wannabe lawyers’ pipe up.... I’m waiting for the good old favourite.... ‘you can’t even paint your own house as you are taking the job away from a Thai’ !!!...

I agree.... of course that ‘pathway’ is entirely in the hands of those refusing to such tests. IF you have nothing to hide there is no reason not to take a test. - after that comment there will naturally be discussions of the accuracy of such tests - thus, a positive field breathalyser test should be backed up with calibrated test at a hospital or the police station. - And this ‘fleeing’ of the scene needs to stop !!... the charge for fleeing a scene (without mitigating circumstances - i.e. escaping a mob or needing medical care) should be higher than DUI. - Additionally, IF someone flee’s a scene and does not attend hospital, the time limit for reporting themselves should be less than 1 hour... not going home for 24 hours to sober up ! Good point... I wonder if the driving licence already includes something such as this.

It seems there are plenty of unscrupulous sellers on Lazada and Shopee who’s sole aim is to pull one over on the customer.... With all the quarantining I was doing over the last couple of years I was sick of using a plastic knife and fork... so I wanted a ‘neat travel set’ (fork, knife, spoon in a holder)... Lazada has just that, plenty of them... I chose one, the miniature set that arrived was suitable for the hands of a 4 year old !! The Lazada posting was deliberately misleading.... I now call this ‘pseudo bait & switch’ the ‘mini-chair-scam’ after this.... Where sellers advertise a ‘chair’ it looks good, price is decent... chair arrives and its a 'dolls-chair’... no where in the add was there any presentation of scale or indication that it was a miniature chair. There are lots of genuine shops these websites, but sadly there are so very many scam artists too... It’s a PITA filtering out the wheat from the chaff...

Probably right, but I opened my two SCB accounts with just my passport and my Thai driving Licence, in SCB, BIG C Pattaya South if anyone is interested. I think thats good info... There should be a ‘Pinned Topic’ highlighting where people have successfully opened a Bank Account without a work permit (or Yellow house book).... - Listing Area / Bank / Brach / Year.... as the question about opening accounts gets asked a lot. Personally - I always hit a Brick wall trying to open an account without a WP until I got my Yellow Book. I opened my first account in Bangkok two decades ago with a Work Permit and have had the same account since. About 10 years ago tried to open a second account at the same Bank and they wouldn’t without a Work Permit - ridiculous as I was already holding an account !!! I was only able to open a second account once I had the Yellow Book (that was multiple branches of SCB in Bangkok).
