Consular support for passport renewal
richard_smith237 replied to Malaikat Nakal's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
I very much doubt that would be given any thought or consideration whatsoever. Why should the Thai Authorities permit British Passport holders entry or permission to remain with an invalid (expired travel document). I have known that its taking at least 12 weeks to renew a passport. My sons British Passport Expires in September 23 - I’ll be making his renewal approximately 6 months before that deadline. While I am highlight critical of the utterly slack and atrocious service by HMPO, given the current widely available information regarding passport delays, anyone who has let their passport either expire or approach expiry without providing sufficient time for renewal only has themselves to blame. -
So are we back to the pre-covid scenario where no additional paperwork, insurance, etc is required if you're passport country is on the visa exempt list? Last two times I have entered Thailand at Suvarnabumi airport (last week and 2 months before) there were no additional checks upon arrival in Bangkok beyond the standard Immigration. There were no MOPH checks, no checks for vaccination status etc - on ARRIVAL. BUT... there is still a requirement to be vaccinated or take an ATK on arrival. (Qatar Airways at check in Last week didn’t know about the ATK part, and were expecting everyone to show proof of vaccination, I told them the were mistaken, but they said they were following IATA guidelines)... My Vaccination status was required at the point of departure when travelling to Thailand at both check in and while boarding.

First thing to confirm is if you are testing ATK positive. Then, its also positive to contract more than one virus at a time...i.e. its possible you contract tonsilitis and covid at the same time. i.e. Tonsillitis already weakened your immune system and you contracted covid very easily whereby otherwise you may have had some form of immunity / protection from your vaccines.

What if a tourist is tested positive in Thailand now ?
richard_smith237 replied to thairookie's topic in General Topics
The requirement to take a lateral flow test (ART / ATK - all the same thing) are individually dependant on the Airline or country of transit / destination. The vast majority of countries / airlines have abolished all requirements for testing (for vaccinated travellers). Thus: First double check the testing requirements if any. Then, IF tests are required, find out if an official test is required or simply proof of a home test. IF a home test (i.e. at a hotel) just extend your stay and isolate for a week or whatever is required. IF a ‘clinic’ test you will likely be told to isolate at home or hotel, extend your stay until testing positive. You may be able to change your flight free of charge. You may wish to get travel insurance which covers you for any Covid related delays / extensions for isolation. As I understand it, Thailand no longer has any ‘state isolation requirements’ but does ask that those testing positive isolate at home or their accommodation. -
Very true... throughout the Middle East whenever taking a drive outside of the city the roads are covered in tyre marks from burnouts and donuts.... We criticise driving in Thailand, but its much worse in much of the Middle East. Driving is quite an aggressive deal and often more dangers. Thailands road stats are crazy high because of the amount of motorcyclists and also motorcyclists without helmets, whereas in the Middle East the roads are better designed, but the driving is utterly atrocious with hideous tailgating and very aggressive driving styles....

I wonder how much of ‘this’ [article] is linked to ‘this’ [article linked below].... Seems Thailand has or is become popular for Arab tourists to come and get away with completely misbehaving, racing bikes was always an issue with a couple each week dying when they decapitate themselves on a street sign... but now this is getting more attention... I’d like to see the police deal extremely firmly with all and any who are racing their motorcycles in groups whatever the nationality - Impound the vehicles of all those caught with a high cost to release. Patrol the roads and prevent the racing in the first place or deal with those who can be caught. This may send the message out... Unfortunately the Thai police only want to react to situations rather than act proactively as a form of prevention. I guess there’s less money to be made by the Police from patrolling and relying on their presence to prevent street racing and general lawlessness on Thailands roads - its easier to fine people after they have an incident.

DOH! If he wanted to that he wouldn't have asked the question. There are several reasons why I would not take them out myself. Maybe he [the Op] was not aware that this is something easily done ourselves. I’ve removed 15 stitches myself a few months back (from 3 different wounds) while holidaying in the UK (after receiving treatment in Thailand the week before). It was just easier taking the stitches out myself, with the help of my Wife that it was bothering with getting a Doctors appointment etc.

Good trainers… Hoka - recommend earlier is a good choice. & of course Nike Air - do what they say on the tin… & ASICS Gel. I also know Sketchers trainers are extremely soft under foot (I know a few older folks who wear them & are happy).

All the hospitals are good.... Listed below are a handful of the top hospitals in Bangkok. Any of the Cardiologists at these hospitals will be very good. - Bumrungrad - Samitivej - Bangkok - BNH - Med Park The key point being is that if you are encountering any difficulties, get to one of them as quickly as possible.

The brother has already done a running (according to the ‘gossip’)... Mum and Pink being held. Former husband must be glad he got out of that family.... he claims he left her because the family were demanding 100,000 baht per month from him (because she is a celebrity), he had enough. She claimed she left him because he wouldn’t let her do her ‘show-biz’ work....

Riding down a quiet Soi a couple of days ago. A couple kids gave me the ‘three beeps’ sign. They were delighted when I complied and beeped at them..... all good fun and gave me a giggle... I really don’t see whats dangerous about it... There is nothing ‘anti-government’ about it... its just a craze about kids getting lorries to pap their horns, we used to do the same in the UK on roads trips as kids...

What are signs of a bad girl?
richard_smith237 replied to Brian Nose's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I know some extremely wealthy Thai’s (male and female) with tattoos... Obviously there are the poor quality tattoo’s that can look rather awful, then there are the obvious ‘tramp stamps’... but there are also plenty of very artist, high quality tattoos around. Those wealthy Thai’s with tattoo have no need whatsoever to conform to social constraints - their tattoos could be interpreted as a sign of total freedom. Regardless, as with peoples clothes, tattoo’s do not make the person and every person is an individual... there’s no need to or call to judge anyone on appearance alone... -

You’re not only living in the wrong decade, you’re in the wrong century. Anyone judging someone solely on their tattoos is well... a judgemental fool. -
Clearly 100% the motorcyclists fault... But... that will not be enough for some posters here who with 20/20 hindsight will be tell you how you could have avoided the incident, breaded earlier, predicted what might happen etc etc... To be honest, when the motorcyclist first pulled out there was an element of disbelief; body not believing the eyes.... then I figured the motorcyclist may be going straight across the road... The relevance to your video ? - Even though it is anecdotal, it is perfect evidence of the utter flookwittery we see on the roads. Does this video mean the foreign guy hitting the 4 on the motorcycle were not at fault? No.. it doesn’t mean that, but it does highlight how the incident could have been the fault of the motorcyclist carrying 3 passengers.

Do you have a mortgage?
richard_smith237 replied to Na Fan's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
IF you want to live in a shed in the middle of nowhere. Renting land and building a house for that much in Bangkok... - no chance. A Kitchen extension cost 500,000 Baht... -
Not sure if its a hack... But I wanted ‘dash-cam’ capability all the time and didn’t want to rely on ‘go-pro’ type mounts and worry about charging or switching it on etc... I have an INNOV-K2 camera set up (one at the front one at the rear) which covers most angles except directly from the side. Its hardwired to the battery so it's always on when ignition is on and records on a loop (files are protected if there is an impact).

before 2021 I had never ever heard of myocarditis Neither had the vast majority of laypeople... yet some of us will have suffered from it through various interactions in from diet to illnesses caused by viruses and bacteria without even knowing... sometimes the symptoms are so mild... Or in rare cases, when we are feeling quite unwell (i.e. influenza) we are weak and and our body is aching we may have myocarditis at the same time... There seems to be this crazy panic around myocarditis as if it always results in death... its inflammation of the heart... when we are unwell, much of the body becomes inflamed, in the case of myocarditis, the heard muscle becomes inflamed - it can of course be very serious, but more commonly symptoms are brief.

To make you feel better, I did get another bout of Shingles after my second jab, not the third though.......???? I had ‘covid arm’... a dull ache in my arm from all of the Covid-19 vaccines, this is the body's innate immune response.. I also felt a little feverish the next day, again, the immune response... The ‘negative reaction from the vaccine’... is similar to the bodies response from many other vaccines taken.... Now... there are serious issues that the vaccines have caused... it would appear that in very rare cases the mRNA vaccination can cause myocarditis - JAMA article suggests 9 out 1 million vaccinated people show symptoms which last a couple of days and could be attributed to myocarditis. Reports also suggest that there is a greater risk of developing myocarditis from the Pfizer vaccine than Moderna - but there has also been greater hysteria surrounding Pfizer in Europe, so this statistic could be distorted by local concern rather than any genuine statistical difference. There is also the risk of VITT... this risk is not specific to covid vaccines through, this risk is present with most vaccines to the same almost infinitesimally small factor. The above mentioned risk factors which do exist with the mRNA and conventional vaccines (myocarditis and Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia and also Thrombosis) are also present in many every day factors of our lives, such as catching colds, suffering from Influenza, alcohol consumption, even certain foods can increase the risk factors..... ... And of course, one of the the biggest risks of both thrombosis and myocarditis is Covid-19 itself... The risks of facing these issues from ‘ever day factors’ is significantly greater than that presented from takin vaccines (any of them) and also mRNA vaccines. So.. for those who are considering ’not taking the vaccine’ because they believe the risk of Myocarditis is too high... they should perhaps spend great efforts avoiding Influenza, avoid red mean, avoid high-fat dairy products, cut down on salt, avoid alcohol.....

In such circumstances those supportive of the vaccination simply counter the ridiculous claims made by anti-vaxxers that ‘it must be the vaccine’...... just because someone has had a vaccine it does not automatically lend to cause for any issue subsequently encountered... 600,000 plus people in the UK die each year... most of them have had the vaccine.
