  1. Yes... But quite often,, they find it very difficult to pronounce our name..
  2. Great idea, to copy your own bank statements, saves waiting 7 days, and paying the bank 200 baht, but Jomtien often change exactly how they require it to be done..
  3. You are correct... It's even better now with less Russians in my condo.. They used to let outside friends reserve the sun loungers, and before security was tightened.. They let outside friends use the car parks long-term, smokeing near pool, wet in elevator etc etc.. I don't think anybody misses them..
  4. I like Ngha rang, but in normal times there are too many Russians there.. Now, maybe good time to return...
  5. Simple... Because the 800,000 in the bank method, is very much easier.. Having another 400,000 in the bank is peanuts.. I have done both methods.
  6. I'm the same, except my entrance door is closed... Yet another benefit of a high level condo.
  7. I did not say that I can predict when the change rate will be high, but if i get 4 notifications within a few hours, of good increases, that take the rate to what I am comfortable with.. The end result in my BKK bank, always gives me a higher rate than what I would get from normal bank exchanges.. That's what matters most.
  8. I now transfer my Nz pension and other funds, through wise. That way, I only do transfers when the rates are quite high, like yesterday..
  9. I agree, ,,I have never seen them buying lots of food at 7-11.. I doubt if many/any stay in condos for free. They don't look roughly dressed, as that guy claims... Just rude and unfriendly.. And blocking the footpaths..
  10. ???? I live at Cosy beach, the local restaurants, not 3 mermaids etc, used to be full of Russians, especially Pen shop, owned by a Russian.. I have never seen them buying much at 7-11.only arguing over the price of vodka. Unfortunately there are still condos where I live, owned by Russians, but a lot less than 5 years ago.. It's not at all pleasant, living amongst them..
  11. I had the same two... But had zero sickness or bad feelings
  12. I bet they did not smile, or wave back.. Perhaps they did, with their fist..
  13. OMG, where do you come from?? It sounds like its normal part of life, for you?
  14. Agreed, too many expats move to Thailand with insufficient funds or they have alcohol problems, or very week and naive with Thai ladies.. Thailand is not a good place for these type of people. Their problems always catch up with them...
  15. I renewed my non O in mid November. Although there was large queuing , the staff were mostly helpful. The immigration officer even re wrote my application for me, as I had done it on wrong form, but... I had to return to BKK bank to get another bank statement, as the other one was more than 24hrs old.. When I returned, 2hrs later... They fast tracked me through the ques. I was very impressed with the service.. Same, the next day, when I returned to collect visa.. They had separate area outside, to collect these. The staff made extra effort to find my passport for me.. No complaints from me..
  16. Correct... It is a buyers market... But I've found sellers in Thailand are very very unrealistic with their selling price.. They would rather have a property empty for years.. Capital gains, seldom happen in Pattaya, so it's essential, to buy well...
  17. Please don't talk about it and give them ideas..
  18. I give a 9/10 for living in Thailand. I'm 70 with excellent health, formerly from Auckland NZ.. All my family still live in Auckland. I still own property in Auckland and Australia as ND have substantial passive income.. I own my own very nice condo near to Pattaya. I don't have alcohol problems or I'm not desperate to get married. I will remain a butterfly. I have funds available to cover me, should I ever need hospital care.. Pretty covid ,I used to like BKK as a very handy place to travel to many other countries to, within 2-3 hours.. I love the Thai weather, warm everyday, cheap living expenses, have friendly Thai people. Plus good nightlife, when I want it.. NZ is supposed to be one of the best places in world to live... But it's very expensive, cold winter, too many racial problems with immigrants etc. Most of the people i know in NZ, are very stressed from working long hours.. I worked excessive hours for 40+ years... But at least now.. I can afford a great retirement.. Don't move to Thailand unless you have very ample long-term funding...
