  1. Well that all depends on where the gym is in Pattaya and you make a great point about exactly who the customers will be .
  2. Yes , it's not easy living on a pension there and no free medical. If you have low cost housing in NZ then obviously you are not going to give that up
  3. Yes people here have only been to Manila & Angeles City and come back with a negative opinion about the Philippines!!! I it was terrible they say, nothing like Thailand in which most mean Pattaya . Stay away from Angeles City and head to Cebu , Boracay,Palawan , Duamegette,Baguio
  4. A lot of crime against farangs you don't hear about
  5. Good on you for coming out mate , I hope there is no homophobic comments.
  6. Ahh the Philippines, love Mactan island Cebu Duamegette,Palawan & Davao City ???? Hate Angeles City ????
  7. Love to hear your story again , I can't remember exactly,I know you separated from a Thai lady up north if I remember correctly?
  8. Yes people I notice tend to want to disagree with you if you post and they make up BS I believe. So they wrote they were away 7 years from Australia and still got it( pension) on arrival, whether they did ,how they did ,who knows? Some just want to post to disagree with you even if it's not true. Do I believe them,no !!
  9. You can apply from 67 So I guess from 65 you have the 2 years residency I don't know you hear so many BS stories ,I posted about this question and got posters writing they were away 7 years and still got it etc etc so whether they are BS I don't know
  10. Now your in new Zealand, any regrets ? What would you do differently ????
  11. Wow ! So you met your current wife (Thai) on a holiday to Thailand with your now ex wife?
  12. What business will you be turning it into ?
  13. On my recent visit I checked out several Pattaya gyms , 3 were for sale. Whilst I have no business experience in Pattaya I was very much thinking of leaving my job in Australia and buying a Pattaya gym Unfortunately one guy didn't have financial books , all his machine were very old I would have to spend money on more and he wouldn't budge on his asking price, but I would have to install a shower as he had none ,another was very desperate to sell and rang me when I got back to Australia to say I can have 100k off his 3 million asking price and can move in tommrrw if I want, I thought great until I saw his high monthly rent plus .. yes key money and knew no way he was making any money . Unfortunately there seems to be no direct debit in Thailand. So my question to you is in Pattaya what do you look for in a gym? It appears Air con is number 1 going by my questions to some gym goers ,is that important? What about machines? What machine do you want there? Many gyms are crowded at 5pm and machines are taken up,is multiple machines important? What about lockers ? How important is shower facilities? What about towel hire? I notices in my Pattaya gym travels some didn't even bother to enforce the towel policy of Western gyms where you must have a towel ! Is 24 hour important to you? Personal trainers? But he honest is pricing important? I know jomtien gyms are charging from 1400 to 1800 baht per month
  14. Theres a house owned by farang just near the Arcadia beach resort condos in Pattaya that has a construction site next to it ,they are building another condo. The balconies will overlook his backyard
  15. I wonder ....how many of you would go back to farangland now after a few years away if your ex said come back your welcome!!
  16. Did you leave your kids, wife behind, walked out ? Any regrets ? Any trauma from this?
  17. Certainly some sad stories I recall two stories a few weeks ago ,talking to a 62yo bar owner sitting at my table ( no didn't buy him a drink ) He had tears in his eyes as he told me he uprooted from farangland after been married 30 years , left his native Belgium leaving his adult sons behind who have refused to speak to him ever since !! "You left mum " they reply to him " It was her fault" he said , She was nagging nagging every night after my work !! He was tearing up ,6 years later he is living in a room on top of his bar, whether he is happy who knows He lets his ex wife keep the house she pays him half rent but never spoke to her since ,strange case and sad The second case was a cafe owner who only sees his grandkids via WhatsApp but the ex wife won't talk to him He had a nervous breakdown in 2015 in the UK ,lost his job etc "She caused me to have a breakdown he says Decided on a trip to Pattaya to get away ,and decided 2 weeks later to leave ,his ex wife bought his half of the house and he has never been back Strangely it's always the wife's fault !
  18. How did you do it? How did you make that first step to walk out in your ex wife / family and make it to to Thailand? I know there's some heartbreaking stories , but I want to know especially you guys in your 40's 50's with children Did you just walk out and say I want a separation I think I will have a better life in Thailand or Asia ? Did you say to your farang wife who you may still love " it's time to go love , I need to start my life !!! Your kids did they understand your separation ....did they understand your new life ... Regrets on leaving ...how much heartbreak did you leave back in farangland
  19. Yes ,although some buy in bad location but remember 10 years from now it could be a good location
  20. Yes your right , they are very small 1 bedroom 26sqm But I love the pool and good gym they have , I think the building fees are 18k a year compared to the view talay which I heard was 45k???? could I live in such a small room all the time ??? No
  21. Yes I do like some of those units in that road between Pattaya and jomtien but yes renting them out to tenant would be difficult.
  22. A lot of new condos still being built and I must say I'm very tempted to buy a studio or 1 bedroom for the future. I liked the Arcadia beach resort condominiums in jomtien ( well on the way to jomtien) I can't remember exactly where it is but I stayed there a few nights and enjoyed it Does anyone live in Arcadia beach resort condos ( it's no where near the beach by the way) But anyway the more I thought about it ,I couldn't live in a 1 bedroom 26sqm room and then there was tourist visitors with screaming kids by the pool to put up with. The thing is ,those type will be hard to rent out to people if I needed money as a landlord and no resale value really Some of these all completely same look inside ,no difference ranged from 1 million to 1.8 million.,I guess depending on floor There is going to be too many condo going up ,the question is why ? Do you think Pattaya / jomtien needs all these in the future?
  23. I don't like pools I saw the pool at the Nirun apartment ,I wonder if it's cleaned properly?
  24. I guess though if your say 67 and on a aged pension from your country and you had around 300,000 baht spare then buying in the Nirun would be ok. As long as I have a balcony ,air conditioning, and a good TV I would be happy . I guess you would get used to seeing the old drunk farangs around as you walk to the supermarket etc . The only thing I wouldn't like is if the neighbours are coughing everynight from smoking or music karaoke playing in the hallways outside your door or drunk farangs shouting etc. Whatever the case it probably would be far far better to live in the Nirun than say the government housing of Birmingham or Sydney's Mount Druitt
