  1. So you tip to receive a benefit from it And there is nothing wrong with that Others too because of feeling guilty or some are compelled ,eg the waitress tells you please give me big tip etc before she brings the food out and she tells you she is relying on your tip etc etc so you feel compelled you must tip ..at least something I had a limo (sedan) driver taking me to the airport several years arranged by my business class ticket ,he tried to "compel' me to tip by telling me most people gave him $30 I couldn't afford that so gave him $5, he wasn't happy
  2. Would that be the guilt reason? I'm have analysed what reason people tip Great service, compelled , guilt , a benefit from it
  3. Im not up to date on technology, I am learning this QR codes it's not easy looking at menus etc I even use the checkout at a supermarket where a person is serving you rather than a self scan Can I tap my HSBC card say at a 711 in Thailand nowadays?
  4. Well you have the 150 baht withdrawal fee plus the low currency exchange if you withdraw from a ATM
  5. So your in the Philippines? Philippines has a tipping culture doesn't it ?
  6. Tourists/visitors need to bring over rather than pay the withdrawal fees
  7. I'm working and I got knocked back ! Said I had a bad credit rating in 1992! I will just stick my debit card
  8. I have to wonder..though...I get the feeling sometimes several of the stalls are controlled by one group being Nepalese
  9. You Sir are a fine Gentleman .
  10. Just had a friend in WhatsApp staying in Pattaya 19 nights staying in Airbnb a Condo with no money safe Yes he should of asked first before renting it off Airbnb but he says you can't contact the owner first on this Airbnb . Do they have portable money safes in Pattaya stores he can go to ? Ok think there is a hardware store near Tony's Gym ,maybe they sell it hen but as I said useless without it being drilled down I suggested putting his cash in his suitcase under the bed ,I mean it's unlikely anyone is going to break into his unguarded Condo I think it's FLYBIRD Even if he was to buy a small money box it wouldn't be drilled down Freezer may be a good place Under the bed On top of wardrobe He is mentioning a PIR portable alarm apparently goes off if someone is in sight so could scare off thieves ,where do you buy these
  11. I found their prices horrendous! Far more expensive than Aldi in Australia Cheese , cold meats , even a lot of other stuff more expensive than ALDI
  12. I never forget that haggling skit ,don't know if it's on YouTube where the guy rings the Dentist asking for discount finally gets it down after asking if he can cut out the pain medication would it be cheaper Anyone can post a copy of that?
  13. Im thinking expats in those rural Isaan areas tip far less than say expats from touristy areas I could be wrong ,
  14. But ..your tipping in that reason because your getting a "benefit" back right I mean better parking etc
  15. But what are the reasons for tipping ? Is it because you"d feel guilty if you didn't ? Or because the "service" was higher than normal ? Or you feel compelled?
  16. I don't think it's ALWAYS a case of feeling sorry for the service provider whether they be a bellboy or waiter It's GUILT that gets most people to tip and in sure StickyRiceBalls as a experienced barman could psychological make you feel guilty for not tipping so people do ,
  17. So that got me thinking , and you should know by your hospitality experience Did people tip you because they wanted something, whether that was because they were going to see you again or extra service etc Or because they genuinely appreciated you ??? I guess it could be both but people are selfish Did they EXPECT more from you as tippers in your hospitality work and was you personally obligated to do that for them?
  18. Excellent viewpoint and if one must say...a fine Gentleman too
  19. Very true ,very true what you say especially regarding hospitality staff But I had it backfire on me a few times Eg tipping the hotel reception only to find out they were only working one day a week so wouldn't see them again during my stay , obviously i tipped to get a benefit during my stay but it backfired

Up ya mums bum Wheels! 😂 Does anyone remember the NRL back in 2002 when Queensland vs NSW were playing and a NSW supporter had a large banner displayed to QLD footy player Wally Lewis which read *Wally ,up ya mums bum ! And Wally Lewis saw it whilst playing and gave the guy the two fingers !🖕🖕
  21. Yes same me I think it's the psychometrics of it all to tell you honestly A interesting Statistical point of view which is related may I say to the financial collapse of the cost of living . Many of the retired expats are on fixed income of course Great to compile a great starting viewpoint thankyou
