  1. Is this only to the benefit of the EEC? The airport is a joint civil-military public airport., home to the U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield. The navy is the entity that signed a $9 billion contract to begin building the Eastern Airport City megaproject within in the EEC that was initiated by the military junta using its absolute powers. Will the Navy share in airport revenues, essentially bypassing any legislative defense budget allocations?
  2. Just a reminder: Jul. 30, 2019 "PM Prayut to personally supervise DSI investigations" Ref. coconuts.co/bangkok/news This is in addition to his self-appointment to supervise the entire Royal Thai Police force while remaining as PM.
  3. Shall Pattaya be renamed Crymea?
  4. A typical characteristic of an authoritarian regime is hypocrisy in law. In 2014 the Constitutional Court removed democratically elected PM Yingluck from office because she acted illegally when she transferred her national security head (to I recall to the PM's Office). The Court (and Democrat Party) argued she did so to place a relative into the position for the benefit (never explained) of the relative. But the position serves "at the pleasure of the PM", no reason for removal was required nor was the person required to still hold a government position. The Court also for the same reason removed nine of Yingluck's Cabinet members, essentially gutting the Yingluck administration. Coincidentally, just prior to a general election "redo" ordered by the Court when it invalidated Yingluck's election months earlier and about a week later, Gen. Prayut led a military coup to install himself as PM.
  5. A blood transfusion is one method (and the cheapest) to build WBCs.
  6. Start with the Basics. It's a Human Right that the military not overthrow elected governments, not control the writ of the people's constitutions and treat Thai people as Citizens of the State and not as Subjects.
  7. 50 page Traveler UK passport is about same cost as US 50 page passport $130.
  8. It was called Brexit
  9. It is US Congress that passes laws and the Executive Branch POTUS oversees implementation and enforcement of those laws.
  10. "My brother in law is ill" Without more details of the illness and blood test results, the issue may be low white blood cell count (WBC). If only two pints are needed and 1 or 2 not reasonably available, an interim procedure by my own need to increase WBC is one or several injectable solutions (ie., Neutrogen 300mcg/0.5ml) delivered maybe once per week. A Hemotologist should know of such solutions. I am not a doctor. They're not cheap. Also, again not knowing the extent of urgency, eating high protein foods and vitamin 12 in the interim may help make WBC.
  11. Prsyut has no sense of democratic accountability for his failed tenure as PM since 2014.
  12. My experience is that a hospital has to request blood from the Thailand Red Cross that is responsible for assuring the blood is disease-free and correct blood type. Furthermore, there are specific rules for who can donate blood. For example, if a foreigner must be a resident in Thailand for last six months, first time donor not older than 55, then cannot be older than 70 to donate.
  13. I Googled Immigration at IT Square. It's for "short-term" extensions and visa on arrival, not for annual extensions. Go to Government Complex Division 1 in Chaeng Wattana via taxi from BTS @ Laksi. You can book a time and date online or do a "walk-in." For a taxi go to the parking entry gate area on BTS side of IT Square.
  14. As these tanks as well as the Abrams are not currently operational in Ukraine, it will take 30-60 days to train Ukraine military to learn operation and maintenance. But the timing for activation in Ukraine might be in the Spring, about when Russia plans its next big offensive.
  15. Most of ASEAN won't care. Malaysia is a hybrid regime oscillating between democratic institutions and authoritarian practices. Laos and Vietnam are communist. Cambodia’s political system is a full-blown “hegemonic” authoritarian rule. Brunei is an absolute monarchy Timor leste is an authoritarian Mozambique-style suppression of opposition and freedom of speech vs Indonesia is still controlled by an oligarchy and virtually the same old elites linked to Suharto era. vs Singapore is a unitary state with a republican form of government in which the political power is vested in and entrusted to the parliament with confidence by its electorate. vs The Philippines where recently the family of the old dictator takes power again with militaristic tendencies but also a new family dynasty was established.
  16. Work-from-Thailand-Professionals Remote workers working for well-established companies overseas Current Employer - Public company on a stock exchange or; Private company in operation for at least three years with combined revenue at least USD 150 million in the last three years. Contact BOI @ Ph. +66 2209 1100 ext. 1109-1110 The two Thais on these extensions speak English. M-F 8:30am-4:30pm (Bangkok time) I don't see any requirement for the above category that the company has to be Thai. LTRbrochure_EN.pdf
  17. "The government hopes ... an inexpensive" There is a saying that 'hope' isn't a plan. Case in point: "Tackling BTS fare at root cause" April 18, 2021 "the crux of the problem is the government's lack of long-term and integrated planning to streamline the fares for all routes in the electric mass transit system. https://tdri.or.th/en/2021/04/tackling-bts-fares-at-root-cause/ I believe this "lack" is driven by a national government that rushes to deliver popular mass transit systems without regard to the fare contracts it signs, then when the operators raise fares in accordance to the contracts, the government refuses because higher fares increases economic inequality of income.
  18. Y The problem with Prawit's policy is that the whole political structure in Thailand is nationalized at the highest government levels. As such there is no sensitivity, action and accountability to lower levels of grassroots government (ie., to towns and villages). Case in point the Army ISOC political oversight goes to the lowest levels of government. The PTP party et al consolidated opposition parties in the House of Parliament tried to introduce legislation to break the political power of the Thai national government to allow for more regional and local self-rule and taxation. The pro-military House majority defeated the efforts. So Gen. Prawit can tell officials whatever he wants, but "the proof is in the pudding." To maintain military control over 67 million lives, decentralization of national government cannot be allowed. Decentralization of government is the bane of national coups.
  19. Maybe not "all the way to the top." The National Police Policy Board is chaired by PM Prayut. It is the Board that must approve promotion of police generals to national police chief. Prayut has been PM since 2014. Many times over the last several years Prayut has promised to eliminate government corruption.
  20. US embassy says it's in effect in a covid-19 lockdown and only see people that it must such as interviews for US visas.
  21. If you qualify (four options), the 10-year renewable Long Term Resident Visa provides for Fast-Track service at international airports in Thailand and no re-entry permits are required (multiple re-entry is stamped in passport). 1-year report to immigration vs 90- days. Cost 50,000 baht. Get your own BMW.
  22. While you pay for the new passport via Pay.Gov., you will also be asked to also pay the embassy 100 baht to cover the cost for the embassy to mail to you via EMS both the new and voided old passports. The embassy required a Thai bank draft but give you instructions on how it is completed. It took my bank KB an hour to digest and produce the draft as I don't think it has ever been done. There was a minor charge for the draft. Include the draft in your mailing - you'll have a bank copy. The embassy used a printed portion of your completed DS82 showing your Thai mailing address taped to the mailer envelope. Note the embassy advises that ONLY Thailand Post and DHL will be accepted for receipt of your current passport. However, according to DHL Thailand it does not do Thailand deliveries and especially passports; only to foreign destinations. DHL E-Commerce does handle Thai deliveries via an online account but I was told by phone contact that it will refuse handling a passport because they don't want the liability if it's lost. "It's too much of a risk." I used Thailand Post but be aware you may be asked to show your passport as ID which is in the mailer! I showed my Thai driver license that has my passport no., explaining my envelope has my passport to be replaced. Not a problem. I also have mobile photos of my "old" passport. Note that you will also need an embassy certification to allow Thailand immigration to transfer applicable current stamps (start-end visa period, any multiple re-entry permits, etc.) in your "old' passport to your new passport. Mention this need in your mailer for old passport/DS82 to the embassy. The embassy will include it in the mailer to you included with your new and old passports. There was no charge. I also had several immigration items stapled in my old passport that needed to be placed in the new passport as well. Caveat. This was my experience.
  23. Sponsored by Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) located at 18th floor, Chamchuri Square Building (MRT Sam Yan Station). https://www.thaievisa.go.th/ltr-visa https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/thailand-long-term-resident-ltr-visa Several Thai law firms can assist with the application - just Google them.
