Why isn't every male in the UK living in thailand?
Peterw42 replied to Grecian's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Serious question, cant people just pay for sex in the UK ?? (If thats why they move here) I'm always amazed when I talk to guys who think nothing of dropping 10k+ on getting drunk and a hooker. I could do the same in Australia, and I know lots of guys who do. -
Thats a myth, the statement on the card says no travel if travel restrictions apply (Burmese migrant workers). The card is valid all over Thailand, there are no travel restrictions for expats, people with PR etc. I have personally used my pink ID in chaing Mai for a hospitial visit, Phuket to buy a sim card, Bangkok to sign land office documents and Pattaya, where the card was issued. It is an ID card, again, the statement on the card says its not a blue Thai national ID, that identifies you as a Thai citizen.

There are statements in the immigration act and rulings etc, that say a high level (or authorized) Immigration Officer has discretionary powers to approve extensions that don't meet all the requirements. 5. In the case where an alien applicant does not meet the full qualifications stipulated by the criteria herein or in other cases not specified in this Order but a competent officer equivalent to or higher than inspector is of the opinion that the alien has legitimate reason for staying in the Kingdom of Thailand, the application shall be forwarded to the Commander of the Royal Thai Police or an authorized competent officer for further consideration of the alien's application.

Maybe some of the proven vitamins, C, D, Zinc etc. Also one of those saline nose flushing bottles, flush out nose and throat once a day. There are a couple of Thai herbal remedies that work, but they really just provide a very mild fever reduction, that the paracetamol is doing anyway. My Thai wife set up a small pharmacy when I got it, but most of the stuff she had was not covid or virus medicine, it was antibiotics etc. (lots of arguments about wrong medicines) The best thing I found was a bell, that I could ring, and get sympathy, chocolate and chicken soup on demand.

Land office fees
Peterw42 replied to pontious's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
There are a few variables but its basically LAND OFFICE transfer tax of immovable property (land, house, condominium) Transfer Fee 2% over the appraised value of the property Business Tax 3.3% over the registered (sale) value or appraised value (whichever is higher) Stamp Duty 0.5% over the registered value Withholding tax; if the seller is a company withholding tax is fixed at 1% over the registered sale value or appraised value (whichever is higher) if the seller is a private person withholding tax is calculated at a progressive rate based on the appraised value of the property https://www.samuiforsale.com/knowledge/real-property-transfer-taxes-and-fees.html- 1 reply

The one I mentioned above, Siam legal, has offices all over Thailand and an international division. A google search brings up many, English websites and contacts

Any of the large legal firms (Siam Legal etc) would act on your behalf, arrange documents, visit MFA, pay MFA on your behalf etc. Then just a matter of paying them via bank transfer, credit card.

I live in Pattaya, (probably 50-100 friends, acquaintances, neighbors) and literally don't know a single person who doesn't use an agent. I think there is a huge silent majority that use agents. They are not on Aseannow asking questions etc It would be interesting to put it up as a survey.
-
Reality is, 90% of the population use agents to meet the criteria's. That's why you maybe wont see lots of discussion.

http://www.krabiimmigration.go.th/home You wont need a translator. You will probably need a couple of photocopies of your passport, entry stamp etc, and maybe a passport photo, there will be a photocopy shop close by.

Yes that's right, 100Mbps is fine for any "digital" data stream, BUT you are not sending/streaming any data, you are sending an analog signal over Cat 5 cable. As I said previously, any speed, theoretical data carrying properties of the cable are irrelevant, your not using the cat 5 for data. None of the design of a Cat 5 cable is to do with analog signals, its for data. You are asking which data cable (zeros and ones) is the best for an analog (sine wave) application. Any cable above a basic cat 5, wont make any difference for an analog signal. The best cable would be coax, but as you say, maybe harder to install, and possibly more expensive
-
It needs all 8 wires to do 1 Gbps, if you start using pairs for power then it cant run at 1 1Gbps. The most 2 pair can run at is 100 Mbps. Why not use Coax/power cable if the cameras are analog, there would be no real advantage using cat 5
-
Shouldn't make much difference but if you are going to bury or expose to the rain etc, then conduit, the main thing is to avoid proximity to power, fluorescent lights etc, no sharp bends. How are you powering these cameras ? Are you doing POE (using one pair) ? If so, that's a top speed of 100 Mbps, anything over a Cat 5 isn't really relevant.

Retirement visa for New Zealander
Peterw42 replied to Bill Kiwi 68's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He is in trouble because he doesn't have a passport, he still isn't in any trouble for doing a bogus visa, or using a bogus agent. As I said, nobody is being investigated, prosecuted, for using an agent, having a bogus extension.. -

Often the first one involves a fee for opening accounts, initial O visa etc, and there are different degrees of services involved, they pick up and drop off passport at your door, do your ongoing 90 days etc. -

The people in Phuket are not in trouble with immigration, or for breaking any rules, doing something illegal. They are in trouble because an agent took their money and did a runner. No different to buying somethin online and it wasnt delivered. Nobody is questioning or investigating the legalities of the agent use.
