And in Australia you will be doing what exactly? Pay 20 bucks at a local cafe for a coffee and bun? Go home and watch the footy? At least your weekly doctor visits will be free 555

Car ecu advise needed, not working
DavisH replied to tomtaylor1's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Another option would be a standalone ecu like haltech. Not sure of the price though. Just go with the second hand one. Good luck. -
All finished now. When I handed my papers in I had organized for my school to cancel my WP that morning and bring me the paperwork. But having talked to the officer who first checked my papers, he said it was not necessary. So i contacted HR and asked her not to cancel it. Which she did. paperwork was fine, and I got a letter from out marriage registration office stating that then no longer kept the "single status" document that they said they required (not all offices require that). They accepted that, and also had an email from my embassy stating they cannot retroactively give a letter for that. Forgot to update the bankbook showing a transaction on the date, so wife sent her secretary to do that. Fortunately, we had a contact in immigration, so the process was smooth and in and out in less than 2 hours (waiting for the bankbook update took the longest.

Just bumping this up. My school contract and non-b are due to expire April 30 (WP also) I'm going to go to the Nonthaburi immigration office next Monday to submit my paperwork for a non-O based on marriage. My school plans to cancel my WP the same day. I'm concerned that if I have an issue with my paperwork and my WP gets cancelled. Is it possible to cancel my WP after I have submitted my paperwork for the non-0? What is the usual procedure?

O-marriage application - proving singe status?
DavisH replied to DavisH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The "single status" documents are apparently only kept for 10 years before they are destroyed. I really don't remember what documents I may have obtained from the Australia embassy at that time. So we will go back to the registration office in Ratchaburi to see what they can do. At the very least, they should provide a document to state that the record no longer exists (once we have all the documents ready, we will approach immigration to check its adequate. The wheels may need a bit of greasing for any missing paperwork, but my wife is fine with that...thai style. lol Embassy response yesterday: Apologies for the incorrect information below. We misread and thought that you would like to request a document to prove that you are currently single, but we can see now that you have been married since 2001 and therefore the CNI information provided below unfortunately does not apply to your situation. The Embassy is unable to issue any other document to prove that you were single in the past. You may wish to convey this message to Thai Immigration again that you have already contacted the Embassy and we had no document or service that is applicable to you in this case. -
O-marriage application - proving singe status?
DavisH replied to DavisH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We will go back the the Ratchaburi office where we originally registered out marriage. We will see what document they provide re: the "single status". It seems a silly requirement, as you cant get a marriage registration if you cant show you were previously unmarried. Going back to the original office was suggested to my HR officer when she later spoke to immigration (she turned up late so she was not there when my wife and I spoke to the officer). -
O-marriage application - proving singe status?

Well me and another teacher are being let go - we have close to 50 years teaching experience in this school. Basically, we are being replaced with cheaper inexperienced teachers (that's a whole new thread). We plan to get a letter from the amphur to state the document we need doesn't exist (they are destroyed after 10 years) and a copy of the email stating that they don't provide letter for my situation. Maybe some addition to their xmas fund will smooth things over (given the paper needed is insignificant in the grad scheme of things). -
O-marriage application - proving singe status?
DavisH replied to DavisH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well, the OZ embassy confirmed they won't make a letter for this purpose. I will see what we can do with the amphur, and will also inform immigration that my embassy won't make the letter. If they don't budge, I can just go on a retirement extension. I had planned to teach again in the future, and thought maybe I could d this on the marriage extension (provided the school was OK with it). Either way, I'll be at home cleaning the house while my wife it out working:) -

That's Nonthaburi. Im pretty sure we have the kor ror 3 at home somewhere and can get the kor ror 2. Wife phoned the local amphur already. -
Hi all, I'm Australian and have been on B visa and have been extending on that basis for 20+ Years. I got married in 2001 in Thailand. Now I need to move to an extension based on marriage, but there is one stumbling block. I can get 2 of the previous marriage documents from the local ampur office. However, as it was so long ago, the "single status" forms have since been destroyed. This is the form to show you were single and that you can get married. And I need this form as part of my application. Immigration suggested going to the Australia embassy and getting a stat dec? to declare I was single at the time I got married here (in 2001). However, I don't thing the embassy have this service, as this is visa related (according to their website). Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do? Thanks...

Where to buy Honda Jazz tyres in Bangkok and what type
DavisH replied to orientalist's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Try tyreplus, they sell michelins mainly. Or do you want cheaper tyres. Yes bquik are pricey for the same tire compared to other shops. Are they 15 or 16 inch tires? you can do a search here. This shop is in nonthaburi and the prices are as good as you will find. https://www.tivanon.com/?wfile=tires toyo cr-1 is a nice tire. soft and quiet. I used them on our swift. But then changed back to pilot sport 4. -
Engine oil not leaking but decreasing
DavisH replied to villageidiotY2K's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
As others suggested, just top it up and check it weekly. This is a relatively new car, I would suggest keep up the regular services at the dealer. Its not expensive. For major problems, like a damaged turbo, then find an outside independent nissan garage to deal with it, especailly if the car is out of warranty. -
Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
DavisH replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
O-net scores have shown a decline over the last decade. Average scores on 4-choice multiple choice tests average 25-35%. So the average student is basically guessing all the answers. Obviously there are a handful of excellent schools here, but the vast majority of the remainder skew the results. -

Autobacs is quite expensive unless they have a promotion on. For tires, I get michelin from tyreplus. -

So wat do you they are selling for? How much will a dealer bargain? The best wat is to sell privately in either case. -

Many of the owners fit lpg to it, so that's an option if you wanted to fix and keep it.
