  1. I have True Home internet with a True's wifi router... If my computer or phone has not been logged on for several hours when I go to my browser there is an initial True wife webpage that comes up - Is there a way to go into the router settings and disable this page from being required to pop up before I can surf or check my mail?...

It causes a problem because my email apps stop working on my computer & Iphone because they can't get to the internet...

  2. Get your thai spouse to obtain a gun license, and buy a gun.

There is no better deterrent than a few shots fired into the

    air! But practice first.

On a more gentler note, IR sensor lights on the house or fence

perimeter, once movement is detected all the lights turn on,

not many burglars want to hang around when the property is

    lighted.

One more I have - separate your indoor motion sensors into 2 sectors -

upstairs and downstairs - when you go up to sleep activate the

ground floor sector, make sure there is a very loud piercing alarm

piezzo speaker connected (with separate battery backup). Once this

goes off, all the soi dogs will start howling, the house will have 100 dB

piercing noise, the burglar probably will not want to stay.

Then fire a few warning shots about his head, he will crap his pants

    and run.

Spouses and guns do not make a good mix... Just like Spouses and high floor condos...

  3. You will need to have a IPhone that is unlocked from a specific carrier....

Go to where you bought the IP{hone and ask them if they will unlock the phone so you can use a carrier while on vacation.

(They may not do this siting their contract terms)

If not go underground... There are many way you can unlock you phone... surf your local Craigslist for "IPhone Unlock" to find dealers who will unlock it for a small fee or if you are computer savy you can do it yourself with Pwntool & UltraSn0w...

Once in Thailand go to either DTac or AIS (There are others but these are the biggest)... they will sell you a sim and get you set up with data (There are plans for 20hr ~ 100baht)... They do not have 3g in Thailand only the slower Edge...

Also if you are going to be out of the big cities - look for a carrier that has service in the area that you will live...

Here is a resource (Which I have not tried yet)... That may be of help for Tethering

  4. Any Walmart, BestBuy or Target store will sell this GoPhone for $20... you can just pop out the sim in it and put it in your IPhone...

An even cheaper option is to buy the ATT sim from ebay...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-ATT-3G-Sim-C...alenotsupported

You can buy it and have it delivered to your first stop in US... them just buy the standard top up cards at any Wallgreens/Best Buy/ATT...

Also look into a wifi data plan... such as TMobile wifi ($39/month - unlimited data)... You can go to any Starbucks, Airport or Barnes & Noble bookstore and get your UNLIMITED data fix and with IPhone skype... you can talk forever...

One last trick... there are many FREE wifi spots in most cities... Libraries, Malls and such... research the cities and find out where they are... the IPhone with skype is awsome and free to use.... No bitching or complaining :)

  5. You can go into any ATT store and they will sell you a Sim and you can have a prepaid plan (GoPhone - Simple Plan $.25/minute) It can also be set up with Data but the plan is not unlimited 100mb/$19.99

    http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-ser...one-options.jsp

Also you can go into any Target and buy a cheap prepaid phone and swap the sim card from the phone into your IPhone (Assume yours is unlocked)... But data option will only be available with ATT cards

  6. I have just been issued a Non- Immigration 1 year Multiple entry visa (Type B ) with the help of a reputable law firm sponsoring me...

My question is when does the 1 year visa start? - And more importantly when is the last day I can do my last 90day visa run?

My visa stamp was issued on May 13th, 2009 and states: "This visa must be utilized before May 13th, 2010"

I plan on arriving in Thailand on August 2nd, 2009

So is the one year term based on the visa issue date or the date I arrive in Thailand for the first time?

The confusion for me is based on the FAQ statement I found on this FAQ Page (See question #9) - Text below...

For how long is the Thai visa valid? Until when am I allowed to enter Thailand after I obtain the Thai visa?

Upon receiving the Thai visa, you are required to enter Thailand within 6 months, or your Thai visa will expire. By the time you enter Thailand that is when the one year will start. So you are approved and receive your Thai visa on the 1st of June, you have to fly to Thailand by the 1st of December. Then if you arrive in Thailand let's say, the 30th of November, your one year visa will be up by the 30th of November the next year.

If this FAQ statement is correct - How will the entry date be added to my visa in my passport at the airport that become the beginning of my 1 year visa term?

  7. It would be interesting to know if he flew off to Dubai because he was asked to leave Hong Kong?...

Is far as conspiracy theories: I can see an Emelda Marcos Hail Mary move... Wife divorced me and took "ALL" the money :o ... I am now just penniless sole who lives in these luxury hotels and fly in these private jets that are donated to me by my supporters ... I have seen the error of my ways... forgive me... I have only the Country at heart now.... Jail time commuted to community service... Uses his time as PM for community service credit... Starts new political party named the "Peoples CHANGE Party"...Yada Yada Yada...

  8. Yes, alot of the tailors touts are indeed Nepalese. As far as Indians in Thailand, well, there has been a large community for a very long time so there are many Thai Indians or Indian Thais, however they are called. They don't need work permits because they are born Thais. I think they encounter a good deal of discrimination here, especially compared to Thai Chinese, who run the joint.

Yes I was rather taken aback when the salesperson in the condo tower project I bought into proudly stated to me that they do not allow Indians to buy their condos!...

  9. I would agree that moderation in ones diet (20 cups of coffee a day!)... is always good advise...

But I would also suggest that some people (like me) are predisposed to high blood pressure... It runs in my family... I am active and eat a sensible diet but still have HBP... So I take very well tested and reliable medication to moderate it.

  10. the dates as per the other thread two days ago... but one can hopefully surmise that Potjaman's permission will be rescinded.
Court approves China, Japan trip for Thaksin and wife

Kamnuan Chalopathum, Thaksin's lawyer, said the former premier will travel to Japan and China from July 31 to August 10 and attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. His wife would later join him in Beijing on August 5.

The Supreme Court, however, rejected a request by the couple to travel to the United Kingdom from August 15 to 20. The court said the defendants were required to report to the court on August 11 after which they could re-submit the request.

Yeah it would look really stupid to allow someone already convicted to leave the country. Even with the 70 billion seized the 5 million bail is nothing to them.

5 million... Hum... That's just about how much one could stuff into a lunch pail... :o
