We did our homework and understand the rules, but that does not make it fair. Why should someone living in say Minnesota USA get an uplift but someone living 10 miles across the border in Canada not get it?

Sure the Thai Government don't care about exchange rates but expats do. When i set up my original 800k it cost me 11,250 GBP. Now it would cost 18,200 GBP. A rise to 1.2m baht would cost 27,300 GBP.

The problem is that the 800k was set when the GBP was 70+, with the GBP at 44 the 800k is really now 1.3m.

I spent a pleasant few hours in a bar in Central Chiang Rai watching the clock tower change colour. The white temple is a must see in CR. The best in Thailand. -

Yes being alone is great but what about when you get in your 70s, 80s, 90s? Having a dependable younger partner is great as well, especially in a country where you might not speak the language.

Looks like that was a very smart move. An EV caught fire on a ferry yesterday in the North Sea. The ferry was carrying 3000 cars (ony 25 EVs). Looks like all the cars and probably the ferry will be destroyed, plus sadly one death and several injuries. Insurance cost of that @ $100 million? The insurance industry will probably ban them all.
