  1. Yes. One "business" (working) day. And my previous experience was three business days. Not sure why I used the wrong description, but I thought most could figure out my mistake, and what I meant.
  2. Time to get off our a$$es and do our job. Well that and take some of the attention away from the daily police corruption news.
  3. Tangmo. Isn't that usually a female nickname? Like the recently deceased Nida Patcharaveerapong. I assume these shows are somewhat scripted and that he was playing a "role"?
  4. Thanks, wouldn't have looked there... Headline translates Waiting to see "71 MPs" after the documents at the meeting The Election Commission has leaked social media IMO, leaks from the Election Commission are not a good thing, and probably against more than a few laws. The EC members/leadership should consider resigning due to incompetence.
  5. Looked, could not find anything. Can you share a link? This would be extremely problematic, IMO. No unattributed source at the EC should be releasing this information, nor should any news source publish it. I'll look on Twitter and FB.
  6. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/793 Nothing in the code about "being a spy". Recent Espionage act charges...I think Edward Snowden stands charged as well? Former NSA Employee Sentenced to Prison for Willful Retention of Classified National Defense Information Nghia Hoang Pho, 68, of Ellicott City, Maryland, and a naturalized U.S. citizen originally of Vietnam, was sentenced today to 66 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for willful retention of classified national defense information. According to court documents, Pho removed massive troves of highly classified national defense information without authorization and kept it at his home. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-nsa-employee-sentenced-prison-willful-retention-classified-national-defense Federal Government Contractor Sentenced for Removing and Transmitting Classified Materials to a News Outlet Reality Winner, 26, of Augusta, Georgia, was sentenced today to five years and three months in prison for removing classified national defense material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet. Winner was arrested by the FBI at her home in Augusta, on June 3, 2017. The parties filed a plea agreement on June 21, in which Winner agreed to plead guilty to the one-count indictment charging her with unlawful retention and transmission of national defense information. The parties agreed that a sentence of imprisonment for 63 months followed by a three-year term of supervised release is the appropriate disposition of the case. The Court accepted the plea agreement at sentencing. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-government-contractor-sentenced-removing-and-transmitting-classified-materials-news
  7. Thanks for this. Can you share the source of this information? This would have had to come from the EC right? Not necessarily good news for Pita/MFP, right?
  8. Mike Pence judging wind direction hourly, and with 'Mother's' approval, barely dinging trump. This putz had months to stifle the delegitimization of the 2020 election, and only grew a pair at the last moment. He could have broken with trump shortly after the election, and all but guaranteed a decent shot at the POTUS in 2024, but no, he sniveled his way right up until Jan. 6. And even after that he was trump's stooge. He's weak, unprincipled and easily manipulated, that's why Manafort chose him.
  9. Networks of part of for-profit businesses, which are entertainment focused. ABC-Disney CBS-Paramount Global NBC-Comcast CNN-Warner Media Maybe loosen your grip on those pearls if you expect hard-hitting journalism from an entertainment company? It is ironic that Fox News is calling out others for under-reporting the shady activities of the Biden Crime family, and over-reporting on the legal travails of the leading republican presidential candidate.
  10. There is very little that he can do. He has little to no power, and serves under the Minster of the Interior and the PM. The police of course report directly to the PM. All he can do is slap a new coat of paint on the old bird, and hope she keeps flying. And push the big issues down the road for someone else to deal with. Amazingly he is only one of the two directly elected officials in Thailand. The other being the mayor of Pattaya. That's Thai-style democracy.
  11. AFAIK, Thaksin was not charged with any malfeasance or criminal activity for the "drug control" actions in 2003. There was a call from on high to deal with the problem, and he dealt with it. Did it go well? No, does any war on drugs go well? The number of deaths/killings associated with this action have been greatly overstated, but it is an emotional issue so it gets exaggerated in attacks on Thaksin. BTW the meth problem today is far, far, far worse than it was in 2003. There are ~ 325,000 prisoners in Thailand currently. ~ 80% for drugs, mostly Meth. I'd wager that more than 2,500, or whatever figure you want to pull out of thin air, have died as a result of Meth use, or as a result of the inhumane prison conditions. But not much yapping about that is there.
  12. Go to the AIS shop in Central World. It's huge, they have a lot of staff, but you'll have to take a number, obviously. There is a lot of construction in Siam Paragon currently, and I think the AIS shop there is somewhat impacted. The Serenade space is like those specialty spaces all the banks have in the top-end malls, for high net-worth customers.
  13. Who is on the Election Commission? https://www.ect.go.th/ect_en/news_page.php?nid=1905 How were they selected? All commissioners are appointed by the king, with the advice of the Senate of Thailand; for a term of seven years. The current commission is the fourth team of election commissioners, appointed 12 August 2018. Who replaces them when their term ends in 2025? There are so many fingers on the scales, all on one side of course.
  14. I can't remember which "crimes" he was charged with, or tried/convicted/sentenced to in absentia, but those may have a statute of limitations? Third-party share nominees? Inside real-estate deal in Ratchada? Yes I realize any Somchai could file new charges against him. Maybe he has some sort of pardon in hand? He's never struck me as unintelligent, and returning without some assurances (even if that would require him to depart again) would be anything but intelligent. Do/did I like the guy? No. I was never one of the tens of millions of people who voted for him. Was illegally overthrowing a government worth it just to get rid of him? Uhm, no.
  15. He's toast, unfortunately. He just doesn't realize it as it's happening so slowly. Even if MFP retains more seats than PTP after red/yellow cards, and even if he is nominated for PM, he doesn't have enough votes (376). The difference between now and 2001 is that Thaksin had a gigantic electoral mandate, ~ 248 seats from 500 and no patrician Senate "overseeing" the unreliable politicians. So the court had to allow him to be PM for fear of public outrage, by an 8-7 vote some six months after the King approved him as PM. He was of course dealt with subsequently. That said, Pita might get enough votes - the Senate will be in on the fix, understanding that the courts will remove Pita within 4 months, to temporarily allow him to be PM to make things look "good".
  16. Eric DID accompany Dad to/from the courthouse. Trump rode to court with his son Eric, who accompanied the motorcade from the former president's Doral resort to the federal courthouse in Miami. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/trending/trump-indictment-former-president-says-he-will-plead-not-guilty/R7BEVZPP2NEXBKCK6Z25ETS2WY/
  17. Yeah, there hasn't been a Thai School Lunch Corruption expose since, what, last term? Last week? And did the cook lose two fingers?
  18. Projection. You could tell his comments were written, and he's reading the prompter. Rarely does he use full sentences. Low energy too.
  19. Republicans doing the People's business. Not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7PyIP839N0
  20. Home brewing was legalized Nov. 2, 2022. Not sure if foreigners can home brew though. Over 20 YO, can brew up to 200 liters per year. Smaller craft brewers have also been legalized. Previously they had to produce 10 million liters per year. The craft brew market has exploded here since this legalization. Much more so than the cannabis market. Small distillers have existed for a long time, made legal ~ 2001 via OTOP. They had been prohibited from advertising, but that ban has been somewhat lifted. Many of these white spirits (rice or cane sugar) are extremely popular and sold out. MFP PM-candidate Pita mentioned a few of his favorites last week, creating a rush.
  21. I thought it was sad because, normally, one's family accompanies them to court for support. And Trump being such a family man, it must have been tough on him. I guess he'll always have Walt Nauta. Nixon had Manolo Sanchez - referred to him by Bebe Rebozo - and of course his wife, daughters and sons in law. BTW, like his dad, I forgot about Eric. Sorry. Will he run for president without any family support? Surely Melania will pitch in and help him get re-elected?

  23. We need playing cards to keep all these pretties straight. And one name only for each. Nepotism is not viewed as a negative here, it's just baked in to the Thai social contract. And is acceptable to all. I have no issue with that, if that's the way they want to roll. In the case of the rapidly advancing pretties I suspect it's mostly nepotism, with looks and education finishing a distant second and third places.
  24. BS. That's just plain WRONG. Everyone accepted him as POTUS, unlike the right which has not accepted that Joe Biden won the 2020 election. You're confusing criticism with acceptance. And the bulk of your post is just you complaining about further criticism, with a bit of conspiracy theory thrown in.
