In ~ 20 years I haven't had one friend/family/member/first-hand acquaintance report contracting Dengue. Yes, I've heard secondhand of people having Dengue. This week, it's been two. And the neghborhood scuttlebutt is that there are ~ seven more.

"Good guys in, bad guys out." "Really bad guys in". The sheer volume of international criminals in Thailand at any moment is staggering. I'd mark it down to incompetence, but even Thais couldn't be that incompetent. It's corruption.

Order at 3am, delivered at 5am - wow!
bamnutsak replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in IT and Computers
Yeah, JIB has same day delivery (courier) if ordered before 11:00 AM (I think, maybe later)? They also offer 2-hour and 3-hour options. https://www.jib.co.th/web/howto/detail/3388/5 https://www.jib.co.th/web/howto/detail/2553/5 We ordered a notebook PC in 2021, in the AM, was couriered and deliveed by 14:00. -
+1 There are not reliable, consistent supplies so by the time you act on a recommendation it is likely to be sold out. The situation here isn't like the U.S, for example, where there is a consistent supply, over months and years, of a particular strain. Some of the larger retailers here publish new menus daily. Can you narrow your parameters a bit? Specific strains? Price range? Volume? Asking for random recommendations is likely to be fruitless. There is a staggering amount of import cannabis, (finished flower, not locally grown from imported seeds) most from the U.S. And you see the same strains, at the same time on line. So there are a few wholesalers, illegally importing cannabis, and pedalling it to the shops. I'd recommend Facebook, where the algo will have many choices after a search or two. and on LINE, use LINE Shopping and simply enter the strain name. Follow 10 - 15 suppliers on FB and LINE.

For many, Thailand’s UN vote on Russia still a puzzle
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think Thailand's change of "heart", after having voted FOR the first U.N. Resolution condemning Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, is a result of: - Appeasement, part of the Thai national character - Hopes of brokering a cease-fire at APEC - General incompetence, also part of the Thai national character The various defenses Thai functionaries have floated for this 'abstention' border on the absurd. By far my favorite was bobblehead Tanee Sangrat who said: "What or who gives you the right to pass judgement on Thailand's or any country's foreign policy." He later withdrew this statement, which tells so much about both incompetence and the Thai national character. -

You mean two separate tickets, each with a unique booking number? I think that the AirAsia intl-intl flight connection service, AKA:Fly-Thru, requires both segments be issued under one, single booking number... 7. I have already booked 2 different flights and noticed that I can opt for FLY-THRU service with a promotional fare. Can I convert my bookings? No. This service is only available when flights are purchased under one booking number. https://support.airasia.com/s/article/Does-AirAsia-provide-stop-over-en?language=en_GB So I'm not certain you'll be able to remain in the international transfer area? Maybe look for an FD rep on exiting the the first flight and ask them about your options? I based my opinion on three+ year old information, pre-COVID. Things may be different now. If you are forced to arriving immigration, and are denied entry, I'm not sure 3 hours will be enough to "negotiate" your way onto the DMK-SGN/HAN flight? I assume you have the proper visa for Vietnam. You could reissue the ticket under one booking and thus qualify for Fly-Thru, but this will require you to pay additional money. Maybe arrive a bit early at PNH and ask FD about some options? Is there a reason you purchased two separate tickets?

Cannabis has been removed from the Narcotics list as published in the Royal GAzette. ~ 4,000 prisoners, convicted on Cannabis charges, have been freed. Back-tracking on Cannabis would be a huge loss of face. Meth is the problem, and it is a huge public health crisis. The country runs on meth, and there are whole generations of meth-heads. Maybe get to work on the meth problem.

Onward flight unpopular forum opinion
bamnutsak replied to aussiexpat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Every airline has their own internal system which normally requires an agent, at the point of departure, to tick a box (saying this requiremnt is met with this passenger) which, in the event of a denied entry at the destinaiton can be referred back to. In the case of OLCI/Kiosk check-ins you might be referred to a live rep. for clearance. And you may be denied boarding (IDB) without proof of onward travel. Arriving Immigration can ask any questions they want, and ultimately deny entry based on any number of real or vague reasons. In all honesty, they already have a manifest (APPS), issued as soon as the flight departs for THL, which has been scrubbed by Imm and Customs for those who will get extra scrutiny at arriving Immigration. I guess you could get to the airport early, and if denied then book an onward ticket for the ~ $15. This can be done online in a matter of minutes. This might address the OP's concerrns? There are very few fully refundable tickets these days, maybe full fare F/J/Y. Yes, there are various levels of rebookings, credit, partial refunds. -
Can your US bank send an OTP to your Thai number?

If you are using a web browser to access Chase, then yes, you can use the mobile app for 2FA. Works fine here. Use it often, although I also use Google Voice, and UltraMobile for 2FA SMSes successfully with Chase here. I don't think the mobile app needs to be "open"? I just get a notification from Chase app, pull that down, then press Yes. Maybe simplest to jsut use the mobile app? Chase.com web browser message: We don't recognize this device It looks like you're using a new device, or you changed its settings. Before you sign in, we need to confirm it's you. How should we get in touch? Send a notification to my phone Open information dialog Contact me in a different way -
Interior ministry and police force declare war on drugs
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Excellent summary. The security apparatus (mostly ISOC, part of the RTA) here can dedicate dozens of personnel to track a single teenage dissident. You can be dang sure they know where the drugs are coming from, how they transit Thailand, and how much they skim for local sales. To suggest they don't know what's going on strains credulity.- 71 replies

Security beefed up for APEC with Putin participating
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think POTUS was being a bit "aspirational"... as in he hopes Putin is rational. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsyhRVhaWNM -
Thailand, Yep, what a bunch of "tools". Shame none are very sharp. Thailand: where the motto is: There won't be a coup...until there is. I think that if protests reach a critical mass - and I don't think they'll be allowed to approach 2020-21 levels - then there would be a sort of a self-coup, and a soft reset.

Interior ministry and police force declare war on drugs
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds easy - just three weeks of work, curious they didn't do this previously? And maybe build more prisons? Nothing about the source of the drugs, how they make their way into Thailand, where some fall off the truck, and then get shipped outside of Thailand. -
Security beefed up for APEC with Putin participating
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm surprised Putin would leave Russia, so many things could happen while he is gone. And who invited him to APEC? I assume some plenary sub-committee had to vote to issue such an invitation, and that Prayut couldn't do it on his own? I think he might bail at the last minute and let Lavrov handle it?
