  1. Is this a case of typical Thai logic ..... was in Tesco where I saw  protex offering a deal of buy one get one free, well I quite like the product so went to pick a bottle up and realised they are only half full ! Since then any time I see them being sold in a store I check the bottles and every single one of them is filled half way . Am I missing something ? I know it sounds trivial but I’d rather just have one full Bottle then two half full .

If they keep skimming I’ll be forced to start using the hotel soap bars, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles my wife has been hoarding for years.
When I ask her why we save them she says we may need them when we travel. Okay but we always stay in a hotel and they give us what we need? Her answer is, do I have a problem with it? I’ve concluded they’re just souvenir memories of good times and leave it at that.
  2. I did faux wood finish on mil’s concrete columns. First I used a mid tone paint as the base and then some red toned lacquer stain they seem to use on everything. Looks close to the wood tree columns they had painted with the red stuff.

  3. I got a coffee at 7-11 and the water was so hot I would have been there for 10 minutes waiting for the cup to cool down enough to pick it up so I doubled up the cup which is a totally common practice in the States. Some shops even give you the double cup when they prepare it for you or at least those little cardboard sleeves. The keen eyed girl behind the counter making 30 baht an hour was quick to stop the thief (me) and started commenting in Thai to her co-slave that I had 2 cups and asked how to handle the situation. I overheard and told her in Thai to relax and just charge me for 2 coffees. And she did. Free stay at Bangkok Hilton averted. Someone could be stomped to death outside the shop and she would look away but TWO CUPS?! NO WAY MISTER!

At one time they took inventory of cups in the 7/11 in the USA which is why they provided an optional cardboard sleeve to insulate hot cups.
  4. I’ll take a stab and say the embassy is not a “financial institution” and recommend a global financial institution which the treasury should consider reputable like Citibank Central World Branch between Siam and Chit Lom on the sky train. Maybe call Citi first. I’d bet one could fudge the form as the treasury just retains it to cover themselves and have no way or interest verifying the counter signature. Not that I suggest you fudge it, just saying.

  5. It’s interesting how expats living in a certain southeast Asian country give full support to the draconian immigration procedures and 100% enforcement of immediately expelling and or incarcerating along with bans on re-entry for overstayers yet advocate the United States should make some type of exceptions for people who are found to be in the country without proper “permission to stay”, ie: visa or green card.
I guess “Guests in their country, their rules” doesn’t always apply.
